Jain's hand retractor system and stand: an innovative device for hand surgery
Jain, Aakansh Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surge 2021 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.48 No.4
Solo hand surgery is becoming increasingly common, mostly due to a lack of assistants and dedicated operating theatres. The solo hand surgeon faces challenges of proper hand positioning, elevation, and skin flap/tissue retraction. Most commercially available hand retractors or stands do not address all the relevant problems and are not economically feasible for trainee surgeons. The Jain's hand retractor system and stand, described herein, provides solutions to all these problems, and its simple design helps surgeons to reproduce it easily.

Out of many complications two major problems facing in formulation industry are poor solubility and short half-life of drugs which results into poor bioavailability after oral administration. Solid dosage forms are coated for a number of reasons, the most important of which is controlling the release profiles and bioavailability of the active ingredient. Thus the development of a significant dissolution procedure for drug products with limited water solubility has been a challenge to the pharmaceutical industry. Aceclofenac (Biopharmaceutical classification Class II drug) is a novel non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) having anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, and is widely used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. The investigation revealed that there is no official dissolution medium available in the literature. The objective of present study is to formulate film coated tablet of Aceclofenac and Chlorzoxazone having short half-life by coating with hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose (E5 LV). Then the formulated tablets were evaluated for its physicochemical properties and in vitro release studies. The incorporation of drugs into polymer matrices is considered a valid tool in order to optimize insufficient features of the drug molecule, like solubility, stability or toxic effects. In the present work, the incorporation of aceclofenac was performed in inert HPMC and there was no chemical interaction between the drug and polymers as concluded from the FTIR studies. In the present study, parameters such as solubility, medium pH, surfactant type, dissolution behavior of formulations, stability, and discriminatory effect of dissolution testing in different dissolution mediums were studied for the selection of a proper dissolution medium. The drug showed an enhanced release rate in the dissolution media containing pH 6.8 phosphate buffer, 900 ml with 0.5 % sodium lauryl sulphate at 75 rpm for 60 min and thus was chosen as the discriminating dissolution method for film coated aceclofenac formulation. It was found that greater than 80 % of the label amount is released over 60 min.

This paper deals with a general contraction. Two fixed-point theorems for a limit weak-compatible pair of a multi-valued map and a self map on a D-metric space have been established. These results improve significantly, the main results of Dhage, Jennifer and Kang [5] by reducing its assumption and generalizing its contraction simultaneously. At the same time some results of Singh, Jain and Jain [12] are generalized from a self map to a pair of a set-valued and a self map. Theorems of Veerapandi and Rao [16] get generalized and improved by these results. All the results of this paper are new.
Removal of beta blockers using polyelectrolyte monolayered membrane and its antifouling performance
Jain Maria Thomas,C.T. Aravindakumar,Usha K. Aravind 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.87 No.-
Surfaces of commercially available polyamide membranes were modified by polyelectrolyte monolayerby dip coating method. The formation of monolayered membranes was confirmed by spectroscopic andmicroscopic methods. The membrane performance is evaluated for the removal of beta blockers (β-blockers) from aqueous solution and resulted in nearly complete (98%) removal. Also, in presence of ions, surfactant and humic acid above 85% of removal was observed. For atenolol (ATL), metoprolol (MPL) andtimolol (TML) the rejection was very poor at acidic pH values and from pH 6 onwards nearly completeremoval was observed. The removal percentage was unaltered for propranolol (PPL) and labetalol (LTL). Areduction in rejection percentage was observed for PPL (42%) and LTL (17%) respectively as theconcentration of the salt increases from 0 M to 0.2 M while the others were almost completelypermeated. The adsorbed β-blockers could be desorbed from the membrane (ATL (86%), MPL (93%), TML(83%), PPL (44%) and LTL (32%)). The performance of the membrane was also evaluated by continuouslyexposing it to the feed solution. The removal was found to be decreasing on increasing the feed volume atsteps. The performance was further improved by the inclusion of chitosan/poly(styrene sulfonate) (CHI/PSS) multilayers.

Since showrooming has been a key trend among luxury con- sumers, this study tries to understand the major drivers behind luxury consumers’ showrooming behaviour using a moderated mediation framework. Drawing from Stimulus-Organism- Response (S-O-R) Model and Value-Based Adoption Model (VAM), this research aims to bridge this gap in the existing work. Systematic sampling method was employed for data col- lection from 404 luxury fashion consumers in India. AMOS 27 and Process SPSS Macro were employed to analyse the data. Findings from the analysis revealed that sales-staff assistance, evaluation convenience, deals and discount and online purchase convenience significantly influence showrooming intention. Mediating roles of in-store search value and perceived value of online shopping were confirmed in the relationship between antecedent variables and showrooming intention. Furthermore, the mediating role of in-store search value is moderated by product involvement. This is the earliest work performed to examine the influence of product involvement in consumers’ showrooming behaviour for luxury goods. This paper will assist luxury players to create appropriate marketing programmes to facilitate or counter showrooming.

A number of mouse strains transgenic for B-cell receptors specific for nucleic acids or other auto antigens have been generated to understand how autoreactive B cells are regulated in normal and autoimmune mice. Previous studies of nonautoimmune C57BL/6 mice heterozygous for both the IgH and IgL knockins of the polyreactive autoantibody, 564, produced high Levels of autoantibodies in a largely Toll-like receptor 7 dependent manner. Herein, we describe studies of mice homozygous for the knockins that also expressed high levels of autoantibodies but, unlike the heterozygotes, exhibited a high incidence of mature B-cell Lymphomas and enhanced susceptibility to bacterial infections. Microarray analyses and serological studies suggested that lymphomagenesis might be related to chronic B-cell activation promoted by IL-21. Strikingly, mice treated continuously with antibiotic supplemented water did not develop Lymphomas or abscesses and exhibited less autoimmunity. This mouse model may help us understand the reasons for enhanced susceptibility to lymphoma development exhibited by humans with a variety of autoimmune diseases, such as Sjogren syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, and highly active rheumatoid arthritis.
