      • Case-control Study of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of PSCA and MUC1 Genes with Gastric Cancer in a Chinese

Li, Fang,Zhong, Mei-Zuo,Li, Jian-Huang,Liu, Wei,Li, Bin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.6

Aims: A case-control study of 300 gastric cancer patients and 300 controls was conducted to investigate whether the polymorphisms rs2294008 in PSCA and rs2070803 in MUC1 might be associated with risk of gastric cancer in a Chinese population. Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were genotyped using the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. Results: The data showed that the rs2294008 TT genotype increased gastric cancer risk to an adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 2.26 (95%CI 1.25-4.07), TC to 1.72 (95%CI 1.23-2.42) and TC/TT to 1.81 (95% CI 1.31-2.50), while the rs2070803 GA genotype was associated with a decrease in risk to an adjusted OR of 0.42 (95% CI 0.28-0.62) and rs2070803 GA / AA to 0.46 (95% CI 0.32-0.67). Further stratification analysis revealed that rs2294008 in PSCA consistently increased risk of both intestinal and diffuse-type gastric cancers. The effect of rs2070803 in MUC1 was noteworthily also consistent with both subtypes. Conclusions: Our study suggested rs2294008 in the PSCA gene to be associated with increased risk of gastric cancer and rs2070803 in MUC1 to play a protective role in a Chinese population.

Chemical and bioactive comparison of flowers of Panax ginseng Meyer, Panax quinquefolius L., and Panax notoginseng Burk.

        Li, Fang,Lv, Chongning,Li, Qiao,Wang, Jing,Song, Dan,Liu, Pengpeng,Zhang, Dandan,Lu, Jincai The Korean Society of Ginseng 2017 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.41 No.4

Background: Although flowers of Panax ginseng Meyer (FPG), Panax quinquefolius L. (FPQ), and Panax notoginseng Burk. (FPN) have been historically used as both medicine and food, each is used differently in practice. Methods: To investigate the connection between components and enhancing immunity activity of FPG, FPQ, and FPN, a method based on a rapid LC coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight MS and immunomodulatory activity study evaluated by a carbon clearance test were combined. Results: According to quantitative results, the ratio of the total content of protopanaxatiol-type ginsenosides to protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides in FPN was 0, but ranged from 1.10 to 1.32 and from 0.23 to 0.35 in FPG and FPQ, respectively. The ratio of the total content of neutral ginsenosides to the corresponding malonyl-ginsenosides in FPN ($5.52{\pm}1.33%$) was higher than FPG ($3.2{\pm}0.64%$) and FPQ ($2.39{\pm}0.57%$). The colorimetric analysis showed the content of total ginsenosides in FPQ, FPG, and FPN to be $13.75{\pm}0.60%$, $17.45{\pm}0.42%$, and $12.45{\pm}1.77%$, respectively. The carbon clearance assay indicated that the phagocytic activity of FPG and FPQ was higher than that of FPN. A clear discrimination among FPG, FPQ, and FPN was observed in the principal component analysis score plots. Seven compounds were confirmed to contribute strongly by loading plots, which may be the cause of differences in efficacy. Conclusion: This study provides basic information about the chemical and bioactive comparison of FPG, FPQ, and FPN, indicating that protopanaxtriol-type ginsenosides and malonyl-ginsenosides may play a key role in their enhancing immunity properties.

      • Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Ni/CNTs Nanocomposites for Hydrogen Production from Hydrolysis of NaBH4

Li, Fang,Li, Qi Ming,Kim, Hern Trans Tech Publications, Ltd. 2012 Advanced materials research Vol.622 No.-

<P>Hydrogen production from NaBH4 hydrolysis is very important for environment-friendly fuel cells. Here Ni/CNTs nanocomposites were prepared by microwave-assisted method and used as the catalyst for catalytic hydrolysis of NaBH4. XRD and SEM characterization showed that uniform Ni/CNTs nanocomposites can be obtained through microwave heating and solvent optimization. Ni/CNTs nanocomposites exhibit excellent catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of NaBH4, i.e., the average hydrogen generation rate at 25°C is 840ml.min-1.g-1 for the CNTs-supported Ni/CNTs, while the hydrogen generation rate of 86ml.min-1.g-1 for unsupported Ni catalyst. Compared with the unsupported Ni catalyst, Ni/CNTs nanocomposites presented higher catalytic activity for hydrolysis of aqueous NaBH4 solution.</P>

Li Fang 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2022 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.18 No.2

Background Cerebral apoplexy is currently the main cause of mortality and disability globally. LncRNAs play important roles in the pathophysiological process of cerebral apoplexy and the effect of LncRNA SNHG14 on cerebral apoplexy remain unclear. Objective Here, we investigated the biological function of LncRNA SNHG14 in cerebral apoplexy and underlying molecular mechanisms. Results Patients with cerebral apoplexy and normal volunteers were collected. Mouse hippocampal (HT-22) cells were then placed into a hypoxic incubator with 1% O 2 , 5% CO 2 , and 94% N 2 for cerebral apoplexy. LncRNA SNHG14 was overexpressed in patients with cerebral apoplexy. LncRNA SNHG14 was found to induce inflammation in vitro model of cerebral apoplexy via the inhibition of miR-124-3p/TRAF6 axis. In addition, the down-regulation of LncRNA SNHG14 reduced inflammation in vitro model of cerebral apoplexy via the induction of miR-124-3p/TRAF6 axis. Conclusion LncRNA SNHG14 plays a crucial role in inflammation of cerebral apoplexy by miR-124-3p/TRAF6 axis, thereby it may be a promising therapeutic target for cerebral apoplexy.

Preventive effect of Lactobacillus plantarum HFY09 on HCl/ethanol-induced gastric injury in mice

        Li Fang,Sun Hailan,Ran Guangjun,Liu Xinhong,Yi Ruokun,Tan Fang,Zhao Xin,Liu Huazhi 한국응용생명화학회 2020 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.63 No.5

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Lactobacillus plantarum HFY09 on gastric injury induced by HCl/ ethanol in Kunming mice. The results showed that HFY09-H inhibited any increases in gastric juice volume, maintained the normal pH value of gastric acid, and reduced the damage caused to the gastric mucosa and gastric wall, the inhibition rate on the injury area reaches 63.70%. Compared with the negative control group, HFY09 increased the levels of serum somatostatin (SS) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), and also decreased the levels of substance P (SP), endothelin-1 (ET-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-12 (IL-12), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interferon-γ (IFN-γ). In addition, real time fluorescent quantitative PCR (Q-PCR) also confirmed that high-dose HFY09 ( 109 CFU/kg/ day) upregulated the mRNA expression of copper/zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn-SOD), manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD), catalase (CAT), endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), and neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), and downregulated the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). At the same time, the results of the HFY09 treatment group were similar to those of the ranitidine treatment group. These results indicate that HFY09 can prevent gastric injury induced by HCl/ethanol in vivo. Therefore, HFY09 may play a potential role in the treatment of gastric diseases.

SOME SMALL DEVIATION THEOREMS FOR ARBITRARY RANDOM FIELDS WITH RESPECT TO BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTIONS INDEXED BY AN INFINITE TREE ON GENERALIZED RANDOM SELECTION SYSTEMS

LI, FANG,WANG, KANGKANG The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2015 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.33 No.5

In this paper, we establish a class of strong limit theorems, represented by inequalities, for the arbitrary random field with respect to the product binomial distributions indexed by the infinite tree on the generalized random selection system by constructing the consistent distri-bution and a nonnegative martingale with pure analytical methods. As corollaries, some limit properties for the Markov chain field with respect to the binomial distributions indexed by the infinite tree on the generalized random selection system are studied.

      • Fire & Life Safety Challenges in Sustainable Tall Building Design

Li, Fang,Reiss, Martin Council on Tall Building and Urban Habitat Korea 2013 International journal of high-rise buildings Vol.2 No.1

The movement towards sustainable building design can result in unique fire protection challenges and concerns, especially with super tall buildings in relationship to traditional prescriptive code compliance. Different countries haves different code requirements as well as local best practices and may cause conflict with the design features when designing green buildings. These include, but not limited to green roofs, sprinkler water quality and testing, fire department access and areas of refuge with direct or indirect impact by the perspective code compliance. The solutions to these prescriptive code challenges and fire safety concerns can range from simple alternatives to more detailed engineering performance-based design analyses with good solid practice.

In Situ-DRIFTS Study of Rh Promoted CuCo/Al2O3 for Ethanol Synthesis via CO Hydrogenation

Li, Fang,Ma, Hongfang,Zhang, Haitao,Ying, Weiyong,Fang, Dingye Korean Chemical Society 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.9

The promoting effect of rhodium on the structure and activity of the supported Cu-Co based catalysts for CO hydrogenation was investigated in detail. The samples were characterized by DRIFTS, $N_2$-adsorption, XRD, $H_2$-TPR, $H_2$-TPD and XPS. The results indicated that the introduction of rhodium to Cu-Co catalysts resulted in modification of metal dispersion, reducibility and crystal structure. DRIFTS results of CO hydrogenation at reaction condition (P=2 MPa, $T=260^{\circ}C$) indicated the addition of 1 wt % rhodium improved hydrogenation ability of Cu-Co catalysts. The ethanol selectivity and CO conversion were both improved by 1 wt % Rh promoted Cu-Co based catalysts. The alcohol distribution over un-promoted and rhodium promoted Cu-Co based catalysts obeys A-S-F rule and higher chain growth probability was got on rhodium promoted catalyst.

Permeability Anisotropy of Columnar Jointed Rock Masses

        Lifang Zou,Weiya Xu,Guotao Meng,Yu Ning,Huanling Wang 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.10

This paper investigated the anisotropic permeability of columnar jointed rock masses at Baihetan hydropower station in Southwest China. Discrete element analysis is conducted to evaluate the hydraulic Representative Elemental Volume (REV) size of jointed rock masses. It is found to be 5m×5m and it is seven times of the column length. Research shows that permeability tensor of the jointed rocks exists. The maximum principle permeability is 3.47 × 10−14 m2 and the minimum principle permeability is 1.39 × 10−14 m2. The direction of maximum principle permeability is 72 degrees anticlockwise from the positive x- axis direction, which is along the same direction of the column length. A continuum hydro-mechanical coupling analysis is carried out on water infill of a tailrace tunnel in columnar basalt. An equivalent anisotropic mechanical model is applied in the numerical simulation. Anisotropic deformation and anisotropic permeability characteristics are investigated under the condition that the angle between maximum principle stress axis and maximum principle permeability axis is 72 degrees. Results show that anisotropic seepage field has an effort on anisotropic deformation field.
