      • 정신분열증 환자와 우울증 환자의 MMPI-2 프로파일

        Background: Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory-2(MMPI-2) is superior to its predecessor in differential diagnosis. this study was to investigate MMPI-2 profiles of the patients with schizophrenia and depression and to discriminate among two groups. Methods: The sample consisted of 35 patients with schizophrenia(male 24, female 11), 35 patients with depression(male 18, female 17) diagnosed by the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders(DSM-IV) for schizophrenia & depression at department of neuropsychiatry in WonKwang University from January 2005 to December 2007. The data from the results were analyzed statistically by t-test and discriminant analysis. Results: The results were as follows. First, according to t-test results the comparison of schizophrenia patients and depression patients in MMPI-2 among two groups showed significant differences; the validity scales: F, F(P); The clinical scales: D, Pa; The restructured clinical scales: Rcd(dem), RC4, RC6, RC8; The content scales: ANX, DEP, BIZ; The supplementary scales: AGGR, PSYC, Mt, GF, O-H. Second, as a results discriminant analysis, BIZ, D were significant predictors in distinguishing patients with schizophrenia from patients with depression. Third, probability to be discriminated schizophrenia in schizophrenia was 91.4%, probability to be discriminated depression in depression was 85.7%. Conclusion: Finally, we remind readers that although the MMPI-2 may prove to be useful in the task of differential diagnosis, it should be used only in combination with other patient information. 배경: MMPI-2는 감별진단에서 기존의 MMPI 보다 더 우수하다. 본 연구는 정신분열증 환자와 우울증 환자의 MMPI-2 프로파일과 두 집단을 판별하는 연구를 하였다. 방법: 2005년 1월부터 2007년 12월까지 원광대학교 병원 신경정신과에서 정신분열증과 우울증으로 진단된 정신분열증 환자 35명(남성 24명, 여성 11명), 우울증 환자 35명(남성 18명, 여성 17명)이 본 연구에 참여하였다. 자료는 t-검증과 판별분석으로 분석하였다. 결과: 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. t-검증 결과, 두 집단간 유의미한 차이를 보인 척도들로는 타당도 척도에서 F, F(P) 척도, 임상척도에서 D, Pa, 척도, 재구성 임상척도에서 Rcd(dem), RC4, RC6, RC8척도 였다. 내용척도에서는 ANX, DEP, BIZ척도 였으며 보충척도에서는 AGGR, PSYC, MT, GF O-H척도 였다. 2. 판별 분석 결과로서, 정신분열증과 우울증을 구별하는데 가장 유의한 예언요소는 BIZ, D척도로 나타났다. 3. 판별함수를 통한 진단율은 정신분열증을 정신분열증으로 판별해주는 정확도는 91.4%였고, 우울증을 우울증으로 판별해주는 정확도는 85.7%였다. 결론: 본 연구 결과를 통해서 MMPI-2가 두 집단을 감별하는데 유용하다고 증명되었을지 모르지만 더욱 정확하게 감별하기 위해서 환자의 기타 정보를 사용해야 할 것이다.

        Investigation of Electrical Responses to Acupuncture Stimulation: The Effect of Electrical Grounding and Insulation Conditions

        Acupuncture in Oriental medicine has been widely used as a core therapeutic method due to its minimal side-effects and therapeutic efficacy. However, the electrical response to acupuncture stimulation (ERAS) has not been clearly studied under acupuncture conditions that might affect the efficacy of acupuncture therapy. In this study, the ERAS was objectively investigated by measuring meridian electric potentials (MEPs) when the electrical grounding conditions of the operator and subject were varied, and when the insulation conditions of acupuncture needle were varied. MEPs between Sang-geoheo (ST37) and Ha-geoheo (ST39) of the Stomach Meridian (ST) were measured by stimulating Jok-samni (ST36) with an acupuncture needle. For non-insulated acupuncture stimulation (NIAS), the average MEP peak was 148.6 ± 20.6 when neither the operator nor the subject were electrically grounded, 23.1 ± 8.8 when the subject only was electrically grounded, 348 ± 76.8 when the operator only was electrically grounded, and 19.9 ± 4.7 when both the operator and the subject were electrically grounded. The MEPs presented various magnitudes and patterns depending on the electrical grounding conditions. The MEP pattern was very similar to that of the charge and discharge of a capacitor. For insulated acupuncture stimulation (IAS), the average MEP peak was 20 ± 4 in all electrical grounding conditions, which is not a significant electric response for acupuncture stimulation. In terms of electricity, this study verified that acupuncture therapy might be affected by acupuncture conditions such as (1) the electrical grounding condition of the operator and the subject and (2) the insulation condition of the acupuncture needle.         An Evaluation of the Effects of Rehabilitation Practiced in the Coal Mining Spoils in Korea 1. An Evaluation Based on Vegetation

        This study evaluated the effects of rehabilitation of existing coal mining spoils on species composition and species diversity. The species composition of most rehabilitated stands differed from that of the reference stands, and thus did not suggest successful rehabilitation. However, stands subjected to restorative treatment many years ago showed higher species diversity than the reference stands and thereby met the goals of rehabilitation. Our results demonstrate that restorative treatments practiced in the past created a heterogeneous ecological space with regard to the surrounding areas. Therefore, even though species diversity increased several years after rehabilitation, this does not indicate that the treatment achieved true rehabilitation success. The treatment did result in temporary stability through increased species diversity, but it could not be described as successful rehabilitation in terms of biological integrity with the surrounding ecosystems.

        An Evaluation of the Effects of Rehabilitation Practiced in Coal Mining Spoils in Korea: 2. An Evaluation Based on the Physicochemical Properties of Soil

        The effectiveness of rehabilitation programs for coal mining spoils in Samcheok, Jeongsun, and Mungyung were evaluated based on the physicochemical properties of soil in the rehabilitated areas. These spoils were reclaimed by introducing plants such as black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), pitch pine (Pinus rigida), birch (Betula platyphylla var. japonica), alder (Alnus hirsuta), bush clover (Lespedeza cyrtobotrya), and grass (Lolium perenne) in planting beds covered with forest soil. In the surface soil, the pH, organic matter, total N, available P, and exchangeable Ca showed significant changes over the years after reclamation. The pH and exchangeable Ca content decreased exponentially over time, whereas organic matter increased linearly and total N and available P increased exponentially. Changes in the physicochemical properties of subsurface soils displayed a different pattern. There were significant changes over time in the organic matter, available P, and exchangeable Ca and Mg contents of the soil. Organic matter increased logarithmically with years since rehabilitation and available P increased exponentially. Meanwhile, exchangeable Ca decreased exponentially, and Mg decreased logarithmically. The changes in the subsurface soil were not as dramatic as those in the surface soil. This result suggests that the ameliorating effects of the establishment and growth of plants more pronounced on the surface soil layer. Stand ordination data showed different relationships with time since rehabilitation in the early and later stages of the rehabilitation process. In the early stages of rehabilitation, stands tended to be arranged in the order of reclamation age. However, in the later stages, there was not a clear relationship between reclamation age and vegetation characteristics. This result suggests that soil amelioration is required for the early stages, after which an autogenic effect becomes more prominent as the vegetation becomes better established.

        부산 건축에서 드러난 지역성 표현의 새로운 징후들

        This study intended to discuss about the new expression of regionality in Busan city. Particularly, we focused on the formal aspect of regionality and the relation among these forms. The reason is that the form influences the meaning of regionality, even changes it. Moreover, a form or a style is evolved out of another style. In this paper, we discussed the form based on Pepper's root metaphor and have attempted to show that the new formal expression leads the regional novelty in Busan.

        1960년대 이후 부산(釜山)근대건축의 지속과 변용

        Modern Architecture is generally regarded as the architecture developed from 18-19th century to the early 20th century with reasonable and industrial environment, that is completely different from traditional architecture in western society. However, the meaning of Modern Architecture in non-western society is so different and hard to define because it is usually mixed with non-modern elements, such as tradition, regionalism, and humanism. German philosopher, Jurgen Habermas's idea of ‘Modernity’ is very effective tool to explain this case because he advocate the meaning of modernity not as the severance from tradition but as the continuity and transformation of tradition within critical view. In the context, this paper attempt to analyze the meaning of modernity in the architecture of Busan City since 1960's with reinterpretation of Habermas's idea of ‘Modernity’.
