        In this paper, reflex RGB data captured from WebCam is stored to HDD through USB port at every 5 seconds intervals. Also, if strangers are detected through Motion Detection routine, warning voice message is broadcasted and invasion message is transmitted by e-mail and transmit the e-mail title to mobile phone through WAP(Wireless Application Protocol) Push. The detected image is stored to hard-disk in 'month - day - hour - minute - second . jpg' data type. And the image data is transmitted to web server through FTP(File Transfer Protocol) because invader can deletes or destroys the image data on hard-disk. We implement a surveillance system which is able to utilize through internet regardless of time and space.

      • Horse Grazing Pasture Base On Warm Season Grass

        This experiment was conducted to compare forage production and grass intakes of warm season grasses for grazing horses in Jeju. The experimental field located at 450m altitude(Jeju Horse Training Center of Korea Racing Association) was divided into 3different treatment plots(3replications) without a fence between treatments, and sown by three treatments(bermudagrass, bahiagrass, bermudagrass+bahiagrass mixture). Three castrated adult horse a were kept on pasture from the 1 of October to the end of October without supplementary concentrates. 'Bahiagrass' cultivar showed the highest dry matter (DM) yield with 8,887㎏/㏊ than those in other treatments (bermudagrass 8,699, bermudagrass+bahiagrass mixture 8,385㎏/㏊). The percentage of grass intakes was higher in the treatment of bahiagrass(92%) than those in other treatments(bermudagrass+bahiagrass mixture 89, bermudagrass78%). The results indicate that the warm season grasses of bermudagrass, bahiagrass, bermudagrass+bahiagrass mixture can be used for grazing pasture of horses in the Jeju.

      • Optimization for an Isoflux Pattern From a Multiring Microstrip Array via Least-Squares Regression

        <P>This letter presents a novel optimization via the theoretical modeling of an array geometry for isoflux patterns from a satellite antenna. The array has a multiring geometry capable of realizing the source distribution and ring radii similar to a sinc function shape. Additionally, the array uses the sequential changing of the phase excitations in order to favor circular polarization. By means of the cavity model, a synthesized electric field from the array antenna is formulated. For the desired isoflux pattern, the formulated electric field is analytically optimized via the least-squares regression iteration process. The results of the optimization show the approximately uniform electric-field illumination on the ground from a satellite antenna.</P>

        방목 초지에서 우분퇴비 시용이 목초의 무기성분 함량에 미치는 영향

        본 시험은 2003년부터 2005년까지 방목 혼파초지에 우분퇴비 시용에 따른 사초의 무기성분 함량변화를 구명하기 위하여 난지농업연구소 조사료포장에서 수행되었다. T1) 화학비료 100%, T2) 화학비료 50% + 퇴비 50%, T3) 화학비료 25% + 퇴비 75%, T4) 퇴비 100%, T5) 퇴비 100%(1년차) + 화학비료 100%(2년차) + 퇴비 100% (3년차), T6) 퇴비 100% (1년차) + 화학비료 100% (2년차) + 화학비료 100% (3년차)로 처리를 두어 우분퇴비 시용이 혼파초지의 다량무기성분 함량변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 연간 총 건물수량을 비교해보면 시험1년차에는 T1 처리구가 11,342 ㎏/ha, 시험2년차에는 T5 처리구가 13,468 ㎏/ha, 3년차는 T6 처리구가 10,724 ㎏/ha로 가장 높은 수량을 보였으며 시험기간 동안 평균 건물수량은 화학비료구가 11,486 ㎏/ha으로 가장 높은 건물생산성을 보였지만 처리 간 유의성은 없었다. 식물체의 다량무기물 함량은 목초의 K 함량에서 T4 (우분퇴비 100%구) 처리구에서 높았으며 (p<0.05), 년차가 진행될수록 함량이 다소 증가되는 경향을 보였다. 식물체의 Ca 함량도 T3 (화학비료 25% + 우분퇴비 75%구) 처리구에서 3년 모두 일정하게 다른 처리보다 높았으며 통계적으로 유의차가 인정되었다 (p<0.05). 목초의 Ca 및 Mg 함량은 모든 처리 일정하게 조사기간 3년 동안 2003년에 가장 높았고 2005년, 2004년 순으로 함량이 감소되었다. 목초의 Na 함량은 모든 처리 일정하게 Ca과 Mg 함량과 반대되는 경향을 보이고 있었다. 결론적으로 우분퇴비의 시용은 목초내 다량무기성분에 있어서 결핍이나 과다함유되지 않았으며, 가축이 섭취하는 데 있어 안전하다고 사료된다. This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of cattle manure application on macro contents change in pasture. The treatment consisted of T1: 100% chemical fertilizer (CF 100%), T2: 50% CF + 50% cattle manure (CM), T3: 25% CF+75% CM, T4: 100% CM 100%, T5: 100% CM(1st year (yr.) + 100% CF (2nd yr.) + 100% CM (3rd yr.), T6: 100% CM (1st yr.) + 100% CF (2nd yr.) + 100% CF (3rd yr.). The highest substitution effect of chemical fertilizer with cattle manure indicated by the highest yield of 11,169 ㎏/ha was obtained from the application of 100% CM (1 yr.) + 100% CF (2 yr.). The forage yield of plots applied with 100% CM (1 yr.) + 100% CF(2 yr.) was only 4% more than the yield of plots applied with 100% CM. It was only 3% less than the yield of plots applied with 100% CF. In this study, cattle manure application recorded slightly lower forage dry matter (DM) yield than 100% CF application but they were statistically comparable on the third year of production. The all treatments have narrow range of P, K, Ca, Mg and Na contents 0.25~0.32%, 3.08~3.71%, 0.42~0.55%, 0.21~0.38% and 0.08~0.15%.

        이탈리안 라이그라스, 귀리의 혼파비율, 예취 횟수가 사초 생산성 및 사료가치에 미치는 영향

        본 시험은 제주지역에서 동계사료작물(이탈리안 라이그라스 및 귀리)의 단파 및 혼파시사초생산성과 사료가치를 평가하기 위해 국립축산과학원 제주출장소 조사료포장에서 2003년 10월 상순부터 2004년 6월 중순까지 수행하였다. 시험처리는 예취횟수를 주구로 하여 1회 예취구, 2회 예취구 2수준으로 하고 세구는 혼파방법으로 이탈리안 라이그라스 단파구(T1), 귀리 단파구(T2), 이탈리안 라이그라스 25%+귀리 75% (T1), 이탈리안 라이그라스 50%+귀리 50% (T4), 이탈리안 라이그라스 75%+귀리 25% (T5) 혼파구 등 5처리로 한 분할구 배치 3반복으로 실시하였다. 처리별 예취시 생육상태는 1회 예취구(5/19)의 이탈리안 라이그라스는 유숙기, 귀리는 황숙기였으며, 2회 예취구 1번초 예취시(4월 14일)의 이탈리안 라이그라스는 출수직전이었고 귀리는 출수초기였으며, 2번초 예취시(5월 28일)의 이탈리안 라이그라스는 출수기, 귀리는 유숙기 상태에서 수확을 하였다. 건물생산량은 1회 예취구의 평균 18,680 ㎏에 비해 2회 예취구는 16,771 ㎏으로 유의적인 차이 (p<0.01)를 보였으며, 1회 예취구에서는 귀리가 높은 생산량을 보인 반면, 2회 예취구에서는 이탈리안 라이그라스 단파 또는 혼파구에서 높은 생산량을 보였다. CP 함량은 1회 예취구에서 평균 7.88%인데 비해 2회 예취구는 11.27%로 52%의 높은 증가율을 보였으며, 초종이나 혼파비율에 따른 CP 함량은 이탈리안 라이그라스 단파구나 이탈리안 라이그라스 비율이 높을수록 CP 함량이 다소 높아지는 경향을 보였다. ADF 함량은 l회 예취구에서는 35.8.%로 T5(이탈리안 라이그라스 75%+귀리 25%)에서 가장 높았고 나머지 처리구에서는 24.7~33.3%의 범위였으며, 2회 예취구에서는 T3(이탈리안 라이그라스 25%+귀리 75%)에서 27.5%로 가장 높았고 나머지 처리구에서는 23.4~27.2%의 범위로 나타났다. NDF 함량은 1회 예취구에서는 55.6%로 2회 예취구의 49.5% 보다 높았다. 단파 및 혼파구에서의 NDF 함량은 T1(이탈리안 라이그라스 단파)과 T5(이탈리안 라이그라스 75+귀리 25%)에서 57.4%로 가장 높았고 나머지 처리구에서는 53.5~55.0%의 범위였으며, 2회 예취구에서는 T2(귀리 단파)에서 50.8%로 가장 높았고 나머지 처리구에서는 48.4~50.0%의 범위로 나타났다. TDN 함량은 2회 예취구에서는 68.4%로 1회예취구의 64.0% 보다 높았다. 단파 및 혼파구에서의 TDN 함량은 1회예취구 T2(귀리 단파)에서 69.4%로 가장 높았으며 나머지 처리구에서는 60.6~64.3%의 범위로 나타났으며, 2회 예취구에서도 T2(귀리 단파)에서 70.4%로 가장 높았고 나머지 처리구에서는 67.2~68.8%의 범위로 나타났다. 이상의 결과에서 생산량을 고려할 때 귀리는 1회 예취이용을 권장하고, 이탈리안 라이그라스는 단파 또는 귀리와의 혼파이용 시에는 2회 예취가 적합하며, 혼파비율은 이탈리안 라이그라스 50+귀리 50%가 적합하다고 사료된다. This experiment was conducted to compare forage production and feed value of winter forage crops at the experimental field of Livestock Division, National Institute of Animal Science from 2003 to 2004 in Jeju. The experiment was arranged in slit plot design with three replications. Main plots consisted of two cutting times, one time cutting and two times cutting. Sub plots consisted of 5 different seed combinations, T1 (Italian ryegrass), T2 (Oat), T3 (Italian ryegrass 25+Oat 75%), T4 (Italian ryegrass 50+Oat 50%), T5 (Italian ryegrass 75+Oat 25%). One time cutting showed the highest dry matter (DM) yield by 18,680 ㎏/㏊. Tow times cutting showed the highest crude protein (CP) content by 11.97%. The all treatments have narrow range of total digestible nutrient (TDN) from 60.6% to 70.4%.

      • Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Yogurt Added with Artemisia argyi

        In this study, we investigated the physicochemical characteristics and in vitro antioxidant activities of yogurt added with Artemisia argyi. The A. argyi yogurt was prepared with powdered skim milk, oligosaccharide, and A. argyi at doses of 0, 0.5, 1, 2%, and then fermented with commercial starter for 18 h at intervals of 6 h. During fermentation, pH of yogurt added with A. argyi was decreased to 4.43 to 4.46. However, the acidity and the number of viable cells of yogurt added with A. argyi were increased during fermentation period. The yogurt added with 1% A. argyi at 18 h fermentation had highest lactic acid at 9.08 mg/g compared with other yogurt. In addition, total polyphenols and flavonoids contents of yogurt added with A. argyi significantly increased in a dose dependent manner. Furthermore, the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2’-azubibus-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid radical scavenging activities of yogurt dose-dependently increased as the amount of A. argyi increased. Therefore, these results suggest that the addition of A. argyi in yogurt is considered to be suitable for functional fermented milk products by antioxidant activity.

      • Anti-Atherosclerotic Effect of a New Synthetic Functional Oil Containing Mono- and Diacylglycerol from Corn Oil

        <P>Synthetic oil containing diacylglycerol and monoacylglycerol, called ‘functional oil’ (FO), was newly produced and evaluated for its putative anti-atherosclerotic potential by in vitro assays and in vivo test using hypercholesterolemic mice (C57BL/6). The FO revealed good inhibitory activities against both liver acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase and serum lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A<SUB>2</SUB>. The FO showed enhanced activities on lipoprotein interaction such as HDL particle rearrangement to produce different sizes of HDL species. In control mice, hypercholesterolemia was induced by consumption of high-cholesterol, high-fat (HCHF) diet that contained 1.25% cholesterol/15% fat/0.5% Na-cholate with or without 5% of corn oil. In experimental mice, 5% of the FO + HCHF diet was fed during the same period. After the 4-week administration of the diet, serum total cholesterol concentration of the FO-fed group decreased by 38 or 20% when compared to the HCHF diet control group or corn oil (99.9% of triacylglycerol) diet group, respectively. The percentage of HDL cholesterol to total cholesterol was 36% of HDL cholesterol in the FO-fed group, while the HCHF control group and corn oil-fed group showed 21 and 25%, respectively. These results indicate that the FO possesses a blood cholesterol-lowering effect in mouse model and inhibition effects against the atherogenic enzymes.</P><P>Copyright © 2006 S. Karger AG, Basel</P>

        Research on usage of syngas produced by waste gasification is on going all around the world. Syngas which consists of H₂, CO, CO₂, N₂, has different combustion characteristics from current city gas; due to distinct flame propagation speed of the fuel, syngas has different spark timing and air fuel ratio at maximum generating efficiency. This is why finding both the optimum point of spark timing and air fuel ratio is so important in order to improve thermo efficiency and secure stable running of gas generated by relatively low heating value syngas. Moreover, since emission of NO_x is strictly regulated, it is important to operate lean burn condition that reduces NOx emission.

      • Effects of a three‐month combined exercise programme on fibroblast growth factor 21 and fetuin‐A levels and arterial stiffness in obese women

        <P><B>Summary</B></P><P><B>Objective </B> We examined the relationship between brachial‐ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) reflecting arterial stiffness and the levels of novel hepatokines fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) and fetuin‐A. In addition, we evaluated the effect of a 3‐month combined aerobic and resistance exercise programme on FGF21 and fetuin‐A levels as well as arterial stiffness in obese women.</P><P><B>Methods </B> Forty nondiabetic, obese women (body mass index = 27·6 ± 2·4 kg/m<SUP>2</SUP>) were included in the study and were compared before and after a 3‐month exercise programme, which was composed of 45 min of aerobic exercise at an intensity of 60–75% of the age‐predicted maximum heart rate (300 kcal/session) and 20 min of resistance training (100 kcal/session) five times a week. All exercise sessions were supervised by a professional exercise physiologist.</P><P><B>Results </B> At baseline, baPWV levels were correlated with age, body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure (SBP), high density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting glucose and serum FGF21 levels. In a multiple stepwise regression analysis using baPWV as a dependent variable, baPWV levels were associated with age, BMI, SBP, FGF21 and fetuin‐A levels (<I>R</I><SUP>2</SUP> = 0·744). After the exercise programme, BMI, waist circumference, SBP, diastolic blood pressure and triglyceride levels were significantly decreased. Moreover, baPWV values were significantly improved (<I>P </I><<I> </I>0·001) along with modest decrease in FGF21 levels (<I>P </I>=<I> </I>0·043). However, fetuin‐A levels were not changed significantly (<I>P </I>=<I> </I>0·202).</P><P><B>Conclusions </B> A 3‐month combined exercise programme decreases the FGF21 levels as well as arterial stiffness in obese Korean women.</P>

        Genetic Distinctness of Sorex caecutiens hallamontanus (Soricomorpha: Mammalia) from Jeju Island in Korea: Cytochrome Oxidase I and Cytochrome b Sequence Analyses

        To examine genetic divergences of two endemic Sorex caecutiens subspecies from Korea (S. c. hallamontanus in Korean Jeju Island and S. c. annexus in the mainland Korean Peninsula), we obtained partial cytochrome oxidase I (COI) sequences (429 bp) and complete cytochrome b sequences (1,140 bp) from the two Korean subspecies, and we compared these sequences to the corresponding sequences of S. caecutiens, obtained from GenBank. We found that Jeju S. c. hallamontanus is one of three clades within S. caecutiens, with an average Jukes-Cantor distance of 1.57% in the COI sequences and the distance of 2.07% and 11 fixed site differences in the cytochrome b sequences, indicating that Jeju S. c. hallamontanus is one endemic subspecies with concordant genetic distinctness, although further analyses with nuclear DNA sequences are necessary to confirm these findings. However, S. c. annexus from the mainland Korean Peninsula was not divergent from S. c. macropygmaeus from northeastern China and adjacent Russia, indicating that S. c. annexus from the mainland Korean Peninsula is another endemic subspecies with only morphological differences, although it is necessary to reexamine the subspecies status of S. c. annexus.
