Kyeong Ah Ahn,Young Chan Choe,Hye Bin Cho 한국농식품정보과학회 2014 Agribusiness and Information Management Vol.6 No.2
HMR is a home-style food product designed for convenience and cooked outside the home leaving out cumbersome cooking process and consumed at home. The present paper aims to find out factors that influence the consumption of HMR by analyzing data on food consumption during the 3 years between December 2010 and November 2013. Following the classification of Costa et al. (2001), this study categorized HMR products as 3 types as follows: C1 (ready to eat), C2 (ready to heat) and C3 (ready to cook), and examined factors affecting purchase rate and per capita purchase price for each type of HMR product. The results of our analysis show that only the purchase rate of C3 products was influenced by whether the purchaser was housewife with job or not. For those who do not live together with parents, per capita purchase price for HMR was high; and the more they ate out, the higher the purchase rate of HMR was.
Analysis of Multi-climate Controller Data in Tomato Greenhouses
Kyeong Ah Ahn,Won Hyuk Jung,Jin Young Byeon,Young Chan Choe 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.7
Most farms in South Korea have not applied the best use of greenhouse controllers. The system is used at a basic level, which is only possible to turn on/off at the facility. Therefore, further data analysis is needed to improve greenhouse management and to develop the future value of the technology. This study tests a growth model of the greenhouse tomato by analyzing a set of data collected from a multi-climate control system. The growth model is used to examine the growth rate of tomatoes depending on the climate variables. The results show that the growth rate of the stem thickness and leaf area is affected by temperature, CO2 concentration and humidity. Since the variables fluctuate between control points, a nonlinear model would fit the data better than a linear one. The results could be posted up on a dash board or sent via a smartphone to the management decision maker.

Conditions of farm crop switching are affected by several important external factors such as agricultural products import opening, policy support, and climate change. Farming environment is always changing; barriers to imports are becoming lower and lower because of FTA and others, and climate change affects a boundary line of cultivation. Those situations give farmers motivation to change crops in order to cope with them. In addition, crop switching has been done in response to the local government measures about purchase of local agricultural products according to the local food and the expansion of organic agricultural products in school meal. Even though the favorable environment toward crop switching has been created, there are not many researches or outcomes regarding crop switching. Only few studies focus on the list of decision-making in crop switching, and locally suitable crop selection is not treated. In order to utilize crop switching as a farm management strategy, the proper frame should be studied and practical researches on application possibility also need. Therefore, study on crop switching is in a timely, proactive manner because farms catch the chance of expansion of school meal by changing crops. This paper applies HERO model used for venture foundation process to crop switching process. Success factors of HERO model are comprised of Habitate, Entrepreneurship, Resource, and Opportunity, and these phased application factors are applied to crop switching process. By doing so, each phase success factor of crop switching can be uncovered. Three farm organizations supplying organic agricultural products to schools are studied in Gyeonggi province. As a result, the stabilization stage cannot be achieved because of the habitate conditions and social conditions with low risk bearing of crop switching and current school meal systems are the main problems to block the diversification of risks. In order to succeed in crop switching, constructing the habitate in local districts or in systems of school meal is more effective than supporting each farm.

Citrus fruits can be classified as field citrus, greenhouse citrus, citrus produced by rain proof cultivation and late-harvested citrus such as Hallabong, Chunhaehyang, and Jinjihyang according to cultivation method or variety in Jeju province of Korea. The consumption of late-harvested citrus has been increasing steadily since 1990 because the sugar content of the fruits is ordinary higher than field citrus. The cultivation land of citrus produced by rain proof cultivation has been also enlarged continuously aided by Korean government support program and quality increasing effect of this cultivation method. However, the cultivation land of field citrus has been decreasing since 2010. In spite of such a decrease of cultivation land, recently the price of field citrus rather declined according to increasing of yield per 10a. For the estimation and forecast of the long-term supply-demand model in the field citrus, we constructed a partial balance model for the individual field citrus and estimated individual equation in each item’s model by using the econometric method. As a result of the production storage scenario analysis, the cultivation area is expected to store 5%(14.49ha), 10%(14.97ha). 15%(15.50ha) of citrus production in 2027. This study reviews the structure of storage, and storability in Jeju field citrus and suggest several policy implications.

In this paper, whole-bacteria SELEX (WB-SELEX) strategy was adopted to isolate specific aptamers against Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Round selection for V. parahaemolyticus was conducted 11 rounds, including two negative selection rounds. It was determined through real-time PCR amplification and post-SELEX experiment. The selected aptmers had high binding property and specificity to V. parahaemolyticus. Of 28 aptamers tested, VPCA-apta# 1 had the highest binding affinity compared to other aptamer candidates obtained. To detect V. parahaemolyticus, aptamer based SPR biosensor platform was constructed and pathogenic bacteria sensing was conducted in two steps. The first step was to construct 5'-biotinylated VPCA-apta# 1 binding probe. The second step was to incubate V. parahaemolyticus and test microbes in functionalized SA sensor chip in parallel. Our platform showed significant activity for detecting and discriminating V. parahaemolyticus from other enteric species such as Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Sigella sonnei, and Vibrio fischeri. This is the first report on the use of whole-SELEX to isolate DNA aptamers specific for V. parahaemolyticus. We demonstrated the feasibility of using aptamer platform for the detection of V. parahaemolyticus in various food supplies. It might be used in multiple points of care for diagnosing Vibriosis.
