Molecular Dissection of the Interaction between hBLT2 and the G Protein Alpha Subunits
Krishna Moorthy Vukoti,이원규,Ho-Jun Kim,김익영,Eun Gyeong Yang,이철주,유연규 대한화학회 2007 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.28 No.6
Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a potent chemoattractant for leukocytes and considered to be an inflammatory mediator. Human BLT2 (hBLT2) is a low-affinity G-protein coupled receptor for LTB4 and mediates pertussis toxin-sensitive chemotactic cell movement. Here, we dissected the interaction between hBLT2 and G-protein alpha subunits using GST fusion proteins containing intracellular regions of hBLT2 and various Ga protein including Ga i1, Ga i2, Ga i3, Ga s1, Ga o1, and Ga z. Among the tested Ga subunits, Ga i3 showed the highest binding to the third intracellular loop region of hBLT2 with a dissociation constant (KD) of 5.0 ´ 10-6 M. These results suggest that Ga i3 has the highest affinity to hBLT2, and the third intracellular loop region of hBLT2 is the major component for the interaction with Ga i3.

Govindaraj, Moorthy,Narayanarao, Narasimha Murthy Heddale,Munishaiah, Krishna,Nagappa, Raghavendra Korean Society of Ocean Engineers 2013 International journal of ocean system engineering Vol.3 No.3
The present research was aimed at comparing performance of metallic and polymer composite shells of a typical underwater vessel of length and inner diameter of 1650 mm and 350 mm respectively, based on the critical buckling pressure for operating depth of 1000 m using ANSYS. High strength steel, aluminium alloy, titanium alloy, glass / epoxy and carbon / epoxy materials were examined. The results indicated weight savings of 46 % in carbon/epoxy and 31 % in glass / epoxy when compared with high strength steel, based on the thickness of the shell for sustaining 10 MPa buckling pressure.
3D Visual Activity Assessment Based on Natural Scene Statistics
Kwanghyun Lee,Moorthy, Anush Krishna,Sanghoon Lee,Bovik, Alan Conrad IEEE 2014 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON IMAGE PROCESSING - Vol.23 No.1
<P>One of the most challenging ongoing issues in the field of 3D visual research is how to perceptually quantify object and surface visualizations that are displayed within a virtual 3D space between a human eye and 3D display. To seek an effective method of quantification, it is necessary to measure various elements related to the perception of 3D objects at different depths. We propose a new framework for quantifying 3D visual information that we call 3D visual activity (3DVA), which utilizes natural scene statistics measured over 3D visual coordinates. We account for important aspects of 3D perception by carrying out a 3D coordinate transform reflecting the nonuniform sampling resolution of the eye and the process of stereoscopic fusion. The 3DVA utilizes the empirical distortions of wavelet coefficients to a parametric generalized Gaussian probability distribution model and a set of 3D perceptual weights. We conducted a series of simulations that demonstrate the effectiveness of the 3DVA for quantifying the statistical dynamics of visual 3D space with respect to disparity, motion, texture, and color. A successful example application is also provided, whereby 3DVA is applied to the problem of predicting visual fatigue experienced when viewing 3D displays.</P>

Purpose– This paper attempts to determine the importance of financial sustainability and the impact of Selling, General and Administrative Expenses (SG&A) on the financial sustainability of the IT industry. Research design, data, and methodology Primarily the im – -pact of SG&A expenditure on the sales revenue, assets, gross margins and profit is ascertained. After that the impact of SG&A expenditure, sales revenue, assets, gross margins and profit on the financial sustainability i.e., return on assets is worked out. Finally the impacts of financial sustainability i.e., return on assets on total enterprise value and market valuation multiples are found out. Results The empirical result shows that SG&A expenditure – most strongly impacted sales revenue, assets, gross margins and profit positively. Financial sustainability impacted in mixed manner with SG&A expenditure, sales revenue, assets, gross margins and profit. Assets and gross margins have weak positive impact on financial sustainability. Sales revenue has no impact on financial sustainability. Finally financial sustainability had moderate positive impact on total enterprise value and had no impact on market valuation multiples. Conclusions SG&A expense has moderate positive impact – on the financial sustainability and magnitude is very low.

The BCFZY powder was first synthesized via sol-gel method and pelletized to employ it as a target in PLD system. As a result, the PLD-deposited thin BCFZY film showed nano-porous morphology and preferred nano-architecture for cathode of SOFCs. The applicability of the thin film BCFZY to SOFC cathode was even confirmed by fabricating an SOFC with BCFZY cathode and operating it at 500 °C, where stable open-circuit voltage of 1.13 V was measured for an hour.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> BCFZY thin film is deposited as a SOFC cathode by pulsed laser deposition. </LI> <LI> PLD deposited BCFZY thin film has no defects and preserves perovskite structure. </LI> <LI> BCFZY thin film applied electrolyte support SOFC shows excellent oxygen reduction reaction activity. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Fast ionic conduction through strain engineered heteroepitaxial film have been demonstrated well. However, this effect in the preferentially orientated film remains to be unexplored. Here, we report the effect of interatomic distance between cation-oxygen bonds on the oxygen ionic transport in preferetially (111) oriented Ce0.80Sm0.1M0.1O2-δ (M = Gd, Nd, Pr, La) film over an amorphous quartz substrate. With the increase in ionic radii of dopant cation, the films exhibited a substantial increase in tensile strain with a change in lattice constant (Δ<I>a</I>) in the order of ∼1.14% (Δ<I>a</I>: 1.14% (Sm3+ + La3+) > 1.04% (Sm3+ + Pr3+) > 0.69% (Sm3+ + Nd3+) > 0.14% (Sm3+) > 0.08% (Sm3+ + Gd3+)) has strong influence on defect association enthalpy (ΔHa) leading to the change in migration energy of oxygen ion during conduction process. Highest conductivity was observed from Ce0.85Sm0.1Nd0.1O2-δ, which is four times greater than that of Ce0.85Sm0.2O2-δ. As a consequence, it is clear that optimum co-dopant is needed to attain the critical ionic radii/tensile strain to achieve the maximum ionic conductivity in the preferentially oriented ceria-based thin film. This work demonstrates the importance of tuning the ionic radii of dopant cation, which can effectively facilitate the optimum expansion of lattice to attain the fast ionic conduction process in (111) oriented thin film based solid electrolyte.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Background: Depending on various pathological factors, non muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) shows varying degrees of recurrence. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of recurrence of NMIBS in our centre, study the influence of intrinsic tumour characteristics like grade, stage, size and number, and compare our results with data in the published literature. Materials and Methods: A hospital based retrospective study was conducted on patients who underwent treatment for NMIBC from 2011 to 2014. The factors studied were number, size, grade, stage and site for correlation with recurrence. Statistical analysis was performed using Medcalc version 12, using Pearson's Chi square test to ascertain associations between variables. Results: A total of 73 patients with NMIBC were studied of which 48 (65.8%) had low grade and 25 (34.2%) had high grade tumours. Some 38 patients (52.1%) had Ta tumours, 34 (46.6%) had T1 and one had CIS. Mean follow up was 34.3 months. Recurrence rates were found to be 33.3% in low grade and 52.0% in high grade tumours. The overall recurrence rate in our centre was 39.7%. Significant correlations were seen between stage and recurrence, with a rate of 15% for Ta and 63.3% for T1 tumours. Fourteen out of 21 bladder cancers (66.6%) with multiple tumours demonstrated recurrence (p=0.006). Grade, size and site had no influence. Conclusions: In our study, recurrence of NMIBC was found to be directly proportional to stage and number of primary tumours, but not grade, size and site. The incidence of recurrence of NMIBC both stage wise and grade wise in our centre was also low compared to the data in the published literature.
