In this discussion, we compare the choice of seeded intervals and that of random intervals for change point segmentation from practical, statistical and computational perspectives. Furthermore, we investigate a novel estimator of the noise level, which improves many existing model selection procedures (including the steepest drop to low levels), particularly for challenging frequent change point scenarios with low signal-to-noise ratios.
BIFURCATIONS IN A HUMAN MIGRATION MODEL OF SCHEURLE-SEYDEL TYPE-II: ROTATING WAVES
Kovacs, Sandor 한국전산응용수학회 2004 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.16 No.1
This paper treats the conditions for the existence of rotating wave solutions of a system modelling the behavior of students in graduate programs at neighbouring universities near each other which is a modified form of the model proposed by Scheurle and Seydel. We assume that both types of individuals are continuously distributed throughout a bounded two-dimension spatial domain of two types (circle and annulus), across whose boundaries there is no migration, and which simultaneously undergo simple (Fickian) diffusion. We will show that at a critical value of a system-parameter bifurcation takes place: a rotating wave solution arises.
Standards-Based Worldwide Semantic Interoperability for IoT
Kovacs, Erno,Bauer, Martin,Jaeho Kim,Jaeseok Yun,Le Gall, Franck,Mengxuan Zhao Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2016 IEEE communications magazine Vol.54 No.12

Global IoT services (GIoTS) are combining locally available IoT resources with cloud-based services. They are targeting worldwide services. GIoTS require interoperability between the locally installed heterogeneous IoT systems. Semantic processing is an important technology to enable data mediation as well as knowledge-based processing. This article explains a system architecture for achieving worldwide semantic interoperability using international standards such as oneM2M and the OMA NGSI-9/10 context interfaces (as used in the European Future Internet Platform FIWARE). Semantics also enables the use of knowledge-based semantic processing agents. Furthermore, we explain how semantic verification enables the testing of such complex systems.

SPATIAL INHOMOGENITY DUE TO TURING BIFURCATION IN A SYSTEM OF GIERER-MEINHARDT TYPE
Sandor, Kovacs 한국전산응용수학회 2003 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.11 No.1
This paper treats the conditions for the existence and stability properties of stationary solutions of reaction-diffusion equations of Gierer-Meinhardt type, subject to Neumann boundary data. The domains in which diffusion takes place are of three types: a regular hexagon, a rectangle and an isosceles rectangular triangle. Considering one of the relevant features of the domains as a bifurcation parameter it will be shown that at a certain critical value a diffusion driven instability occurs and Turing bifurcation takes place: a pattern emerges.
Music Listening Exercises to Reduce Psychosomatic Stress in College Students
Elisa Kovacs,서은실 대한무용/동작심리치료학회 2022 신체심리연구 Vol.8 No.1
College students balance many stressors in their everyday lives and should seek to find ways to help them destress every once in a while. The purpose of this experimental study is to compare three types of music interventions used to reduce stress levels for college students. Participants completed surveys with their assigned 15-minute YouTube music listening exercise; they were passive music listening (n=4), guided music meditation (n=7), and music and progressive muscle relaxation (M+PMR) (n=3). Their current stress levels were measured using an adapted perceived stress questionnaire (PSQ) before and after the exercise, and additional questions regarding their experience were also asked in the post-exercise survey. Results found that the guided music meditation exercise had the largest change from pre- to post-exercise adapted PSQ scores of the three exercises. Overall, the guided music meditation exercise showed the most effective influence on decreasing current stress in college students.

This article engages with differently qualified parents' experiences of and success in accessing public full-time early childhood education and care (ECEC) services in a Romanian urban context to illustrate the ways in which post-socialist welfare states are transformed not only from above, through formal rules, but also from below, through informal practices. Through the exploration of the narratives of both parents and managers, the article finds that parental planfulness, qualification-based differences in demand for full-time places and formal rules of access are insufficient to explain clear-cut qualification- and income-based differences in access. The article describes the crucial importance of hidden, informal cream-skimming strategies that daycare and preschool managers employ in the pre-enrolment phase and of the informal tactics of relying on ‘interventions’ with which unsuccessful parents respond to managers' refusals to enrol. In the context of full-time place shortages, managerial autonomy in enrolment and insufficient institutional budgets, public ECEC institutions engage in hidden processes of redistribution through selective access, favouring well-educated, high-income parents and their children.
