The receiving revel of mobile satellite communication using the communication and broadcasting engineering test satellite(COMETS) was found to a deep fading characteristic when the satellite elevation angle was between 78 and 81 degrees. We conducted a detailed field study on high satellite elevation angle propagation on 2GHz and 2.5GHz bands in urban area there are many high buildings. We measured the receiving level of uplink/downlink transmissions between pseudo-satellite equipment and pseudo-terminal equipment (on-board antenna included). The equipment was set so that the satellite elevation angle from the horizontal was between 70 and 88 degrees. The results showed that left handed circular polarization (LHCP) receiving levels had a characteristic deep fading of 20-30dB due to the signal being reflected off a wall. When the terminal equipment moves near the building wall, we report on the result of review of the validity of the proposed high satellite elevation angle wall reflection model by the analytical result of the receiving level variations.
Numerical Analysis of a Slurry Flow on a Rotating CMP Pad Using a Two-phase Flow Model
Nagayama, Katsuya,Sakai, Tommi,Kimura, Keiichi,Tanaka, Kazuhiro Korean Society for Precision Engineering 2008 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.9 No.2
Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) is a very precise planarization technique where a wafer is polished by a slurry-coated pad. A slurry is dropped on the rotating pad surface and is supplied between the wafer and the pad. This research aims at reducing the slurry consumption and removing waste particles quickly from the wafer. To study the roles of grooves, slurry flows were simulated using the volume of fluid method (two-phase model for air and slurry) for pads with no grooves, and for pads with circular grooves.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of 4 main types of gastrectomy for proximal gastric cancer on postoperative symptoms, living status, and quality of life (QOL) using the Postgastrectomy Syndrome Assessment Scale-45 (PGSAS-45). Materials and Methods: We surveyed 1,685 patients with upper one-third gastric cancer who underwent total gastrectomy (TG; n=1,020), proximal gastrectomy (PG; n=518), TG with jejunal pouch reconstruction (TGJP; n=93), or small remnant distal gastrectomy (SRDG; n=54). The 19 main outcome measures (MOMs) of the PGSAS-45 were compared using the analysis of means (ANOM), and the general QOL score was calculated for each gastrectomy type. Results: Patients who underwent TG experienced the lowest postoperative QOL. ANOM showed that 10 MOMs were worse in patients with TG. Four MOMs improved in patients with PG, while 1 worsened. One MOM was improved in patients with TGJP versus 8 MOMs in patients with SRDG. The general QOL scores were as follows: SRDG (+39 points), TGJP (+6 points), PG (+3 points), and TG (−1 point). Conclusions: The TG group experienced the greatest decline in postoperative QOL. SRDG and PG, which preserve part of the stomach without compromising curability, and TGJP, which is used when TG is required, enhance the postoperative QOL of patients with proximal gastric cancer. When selecting the optimal gastrectomy method, it is essential to understand the characteristics of each and actively incorporate guidance to improve postoperative QOL.

Treatment of AIDS (HIV) and hepatitis C virus needs protease inhibitors (PI) to prevent viral replication. Uses of PI in therapy are usually associated with a decrease in body weight and dyslipidemia. Acylation stimulating protein (ASP) is a protein synthesized in adipocytes to increase triglycerides biosynthesis, for that the relation of PI and ASP to adipogenesis is tested in this work. ASP expression was increased during 3T3-L1 differentiation and reached a peak at day 8 with cell maturation. Addition of PI during adipocytes differentiation dose dependently and significantly (p < 0.5) inhibited the degree of triglycerides (TG) accumulation. Moreover, presence of ASP (450 ng/mL) in media significantly (p < 0.5) stimulated the degree of TG accumulation and there was additive stimulation for ASP when added with insulin (10 μg/mL). Finally, when ASP in different doses (Low, 16.7; Medium, 45 and High, 450 ng/mL) incubated with a dose of ×150 PI, ASP partially inhibited the PI-inhibited adipogenesis and TG accumulation. The results in this study show that PI inhibit lipids accumulation and confirm role of ASP in TG biosynthesis and adipogenesis.
Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS)-Outline and its time related mission
Hama, shinichi,Takahashi, Yasuhiro,Amagai, Jun,Ito, Hiroyuki,Morikawa, Takao,Yokota, Shouichirou,Fujieda, Miho,Kimura, Kazuhiro 통신위성우주산업연구회 2005 Joint Conference on Satellite Communications Vol.2005 No.-
Japan has started a project of Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) since FY2003. QZSS will be highly useful not only for communications but for complement of the modernized GPS in urban canyon and mountainous area with its high visibility brought out by its inclined orbits. National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Japan (NICT) is to develop a Space-borne Hydrogen Maser (SHM) and time management system, and carry out experiments using them. A breadboard model (BBM) of the SHM was developed to overcome the issues such as size, weight and life time, which are required in space environment. Basic design was carried out for time management system to achieve nano second level time transfer. The design and the manufacturing of the engineering models (EM) of the on-board equipment have been carried out since 2004. The first satellite is planned to be launched in FY 2008.
