Lattice process models are used to explain phase transitions in statistical mechanics, a branch of physics. The Ising model, a specific form of lattice process model, was proposed by Ising in 1925. Since then, variants of the Ising model such as the Potts model and the unitary cell model have been proposed. Like the Ising model, it is believed that the more general models exhibit phase transitions on the critical surface, which is based on the mathematical equation. In statistical sense, phase transitions can be simulated through Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). We applied Swendsen-Wang algorithm, a block Gibbs algorithm, to a general lattice process models and we simulate phase transition phenomena of the unitary cell model.

<P>During our on-going attempts to develop a new skin-whitening agent, we identified a novel candidate compound KHG22394, a 2-imino-1,3-thiazoline derivative. Our data show that KHG22394 significantly inhibits melanin production in a dose-dependent manner, but that it does not directly inhibit tyrosinase, the rate limiting melanogenic enzyme. It has been reported that the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) reduces melanin synthesis by downregulating microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (Mitf). Thus, we examined the effects of KHG22394 on the ERK pathway and found that it induced ERK and 90 kDa ribosomal S6 kinase (RSK-1) activation. Moreover, α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) is known to increase melanin biosynthesis by increasing tyrosinase production, and here, we found that α-MSH-induced Mitf and tyrosinase increases were inhibited in B16 melanoma cells treated with KHG22394. These findings suggest that the hypopigmentary effect of KHG22394 results from the downregulation of Mitf and subsequently of tyrosinase, although KHG22394 did not inhibit tyrosinase activity directly. Our findings indicate that 2-imino-1,3-thiazoline derivatives are potential skin whitening agents.</P>

빠르게 변화하는 현대 소프트웨어 산업에서 주변 환경에 대응해 시스템의 상태를 변화하며 요구사항을 만족시키는 자가적응 소프트웨어의 개념이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 UML diagram 이 자가적응 소프트웨어의 특성을 표현하기에 부족한 점을 보완하기 위해 UML diagram 을 확장했으며 자가적응 소프트웨어의 설계에 중요한 요소인‘상황’을 모델링하기 위해 기존 연구의 Situation model 을 도입해 연계할 수 있도록 했다.

목적: 루푸스가 합병된 임산부에서 임신 결과와 양상, 또한 임신 중 루푸스의 활성도를 알 수 있는 C3/C4보체, 항dsDNA, autoimmune target test (AITT) 수치를 비교 분석하여 루푸스 산모와 신생아의 예후와의 상관관계를 알아보았다. 연구방법: 2001년 1월부터 2008년 12월까지 한양대학교 의료원 산부인과와 류마티스 병원에서 임신을 경험한 환자를 대상으로 임신 경과와 루푸스 병력 기록이 추적 가능한 73명의 93예를 대상으로 후향적으로 조사하였다. 임신의 임상 경과와 결과, 산과적 합병증, 임신중 루푸스의 경과, 루푸스에 의한 산모 질환, 임신 전후 복용한 약물, 신생아의 예후에 대해 조사하고, 혈액학적, 면역학적 검사를 하였다. 통계분석은 SPSS ver. 14.0을 사용하여 chi-square검정과 피어슨 상관 계수를 사용하여 분석하였다. 결과: 보체 C3 수치와 관련된 항목을 보면 산모의 백혈구 감소, 혈청 C-reactive protein (CRP) 증가, 혈뇨, 고혈압, 만삭 전 조기 양막파열 등과 연관성을 보였고, 보체 C4 수치는 산모의 단백뇨, 혈뇨, 혈액학적 질환, 신생아 중환자실 입원과 연관성을 보였다. 항dsDNA는 산모의 혈청 CRP 증가, 양수과소증, 신생아 anti-Sj?gren``s syndrome B (La) antibody와 연관성을 보였고, AITT는 높은 erythrocyte sedimentation rate 수치, 1분 및 5분 아프가 점수와 연관성을 보였다. 결론: 루푸스 산모의 산전관리에서 임상 증상과 혈액학적 면역학적 검사를 관찰함으로써 조기분만, 유산, 사산을 줄이고, 신생아에서 나타날 수 있는 합병증을 줄여나가야 한다. 기존의 C3/C4보체, 항dsDNA 검사에 AITT를 추가함으로써 루푸스 산모의 산전관리에 도움을 받을 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between complement (C3 and C4) levels, anti-dsDNA titers, autoimmune target test (AITT), and pregnancy complications. Methods: Ninety-three pregnancies with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were analyzed retrospectively. We evaluated the course of the pregnancy and outcome, pregnancy complications, progression of SLE, maternal complications of SLE, drugs taken before and after pregnancy, neonatal outcomes, and C3/C4 levels, anti-dsDNA titers, and AITT results. SPSS ver. 14.0 was used for statistical analysis. The average and standard deviation are shown. Chi-square test and Pearson correlation test were used for statistical analysis. The significance level was set at 0.05. Results: The C3 level was associated with maternal leukopenia, elevated serum C-reactive protein (CRP) elevation, hematuria, hypertension, and preterm premature rupture of membranes. The C4 level was associated with maternal proteinuria, hematuria, hematologic disease, and admission to the neonatal intensive care unit. The anti-dsDNA titer was associated with elevated maternal serum CRP, oligohydramnios, and neonatal anti-Sj?gren``s syndrome B (La) antibody. The AITT result was related to elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and 1 and 5 minute Apgar scores. Conclusion: Our result show that adding the AITT to conventional C3/C4 and anti-dsDNA testing in gravidas with SLE might help antenatal care.
Practical modeling of cigarette ventilation rate

A model predicted describing the effect of cigarette making materials on the level of filter ventilation was developed and evaluated. The developed model was expressed in terms of a linear and quadratic relationship which was validated with experimental measurements for different porosity of plug wrap and tipping paper, unencapsulated pressure drop of filter plug and cigarette column and vent position. Forty-six experimental frequencies were determined as a result of using three levels with five factors Box-Behnken design and analyzed by the multiple regression analysis with backward stepwise in STATISTICA/PC under restricted conditions. The four factors, except filter pressure drop variable, were statistically significant at the level of 0.05 but most of all linear by linear interactions were comparatively lower significant. By the analysis of linear and quadratic regression coefficient, filter ventilation of the cigarette was affected by porosity of plugwrap (5.87, -4.25), porosity of tip paper (5.68, -1.00), vent position (-3.87, 3.08), tobacco column pressure drop (2.56, 0.66), and filter pressure drop (1.50, 0.58) in the decreasing order. It should be emphasized that the major conclusion of this study was not that any particular parameter was linear or quadratic on any limit scale, but that there were highly significant relationships among factors involving linear, quadratic and their interaction and perhaps even linearity between and within factors. While, there is also quite strong evidence that vent position from mouth end and cigarette making materials are reverse relationship on this experimental model. On the basis of the result, it can be concluded that the porosity of the plug wrap and tipping paper has a marked effect on degree of filter ventilation rate. The F-value of plug wrap and tipping paper porosity among five factors were 39.2 and 36.8 respectively with P-value of 0.000 indicating higher significant for both factors. According to the analysis of variance, the model fitted for filter ventilation was significant at 5% confidence level and the coefficient of determination ($R^2$=0.84) was the proportion to variability in the data well fitted for by the model.

유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경의 목표는 시간과 장소, 장치나 네트워크 종류에 구애 받지 않는 다양한 서비스를 제공하는 것이다. 이러한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경의 개념을 가지고, 본 논문에서는 사람들이 언제 어디서나 어떤 장치를 가지고 있든지 상관없이 즐길 수 있는 정황인지 유비쿼터스 엔터테인먼트(Situation-aware Ubiquitous Entertainment)를 위한 미들웨어와 아키텍처를 제시하였다. 정황인지는 이종 플랫폼 간에 끊김 없는 서비스를 제공해주는 역할을 한다. 이를 이용하여 구현한 영화와 게임의 프로토타입을 통해서 정황인지 엔터테인먼트 서비스의 가능성을 알아볼 것이다.
Extending the Scope of Automatic Time Series Model Selection: The Package autots for R

In this paper, we propose automatic procedures for the model selection of various univariate time series data. Automatic model selection is important, especially in data mining with large number of time series, for example, the number (in thousands) of signals accessing a web server during a specific time period. Several methods have been proposed for automatic model selection of time series. However, most existing methods focus on linear time series models such as exponential smoothing and autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA) models. The key feature that distinguishes the proposed procedures from previous approaches is that the former can be used for both linear time series models and nonlinear time series models such as threshold autoregressive(TAR) models and autoregressive moving average-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity(ARMA-GARCH) models. The proposed methods select a model from among the various models in the prediction error sense. We also provide an R package autots that implements the proposed automatic model selection procedures. In this paper, we illustrate these algorithms with the artificial and real data, and describe the implementation of the autots package for R.
