      • Examining the Physical Properties and Implications of Tuffisite Presence in Singapore

( Keisuke Tada ),( Yoshiro Yamashiro ),( Sing Lih Chiam ),( Yong Siang Lim ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

It has been recently discovered that tuffisites distribute in the Bukit Timah Granite and Gombak Norite in central Singapore. Tuffisites are intrusive fragmental igneous rocks found in intrusive fractures formed by the explosive release of gas, highly pressurised hydrothermal fluid or magma. As tuffisites consist of brecciated and lithified fine to coarse grained rock fragments, which present different physical properties from the country rock, the distribution and physical properties of tuffisites can possess a significant impact on engineering properties of the rock mass in the plutons. The study summarises the distribution, condition, results of petrographic analysis, laboratory test and in-situ test of tuffisite observed at the Bukit Timah Granite and Gombak Norite in Singapore. Tuffisites are identified by petrographic analysis at four boreholes in depths from 37.0 to 172.0 metres and observed based on visual inspection at other four boreholes in depths from 15.7 to 150.0 metres. The distribution of tuffisites widely spreads across the plutons, and their thickness ranges from 0.1 to 134.3 metres. Unconfined compressive strength test and point load test results are summarised and assessed in terms of lithified condition of tuffisites. Tuffisites present relatively low strength compare to the country rock although the strengths vary with level of lithification, which implies that sudden strength change may be encountered in deep excavation at the plutons. Results of Lugeon test, porosity test, slake durability test and jointing degree are summarised and discussed to understand more about the mechanical properties of tuffisites.

      • Monocular Vision based Indoor Mobile Robot

        Naoya Tada,Keisuke Murata,Takeshi Saitoh,Tomoyuki Osaki,Ryosuke Konishi 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7

This paper presents the indoor mobile robot that moves automatically without needing environment information beforehand while recognizing the frontal surrounding environment with only one general camera. Based on the frontal image, the robot detects two boundary lines, some obstacle regions, and a moving direction. When the obstacle is detected, the avoidance or stop movement is worked according to the size and the position of the obstacle, otherwise the robot moves at the center of the corridor. We developed two wheelchair based mobile robots, and carried out moving experiments. It was possible to pass each other without colliding by working the avoidance movement in face-to-face movement in the coexistence environment.

Direction change in a distal bypass graft due to increased collateral perfusion after the free flap transfer: a case report

        Dongkyung Seo,Yutaka Dannoura,Riku Ishii,Keisuke Tada,Katsumi Horiuchi 대한수부외과학회 2022 대한수부외과학회지 Vol.27 No.1

Distal bypass combined with a free flap is a frequent surgical option for ischemic ulcers of the lower extremities. Here, we describe a patient in whom there was a change in the direction of blood flow in a distal bypass graft. A 68-year-old male patient with an ischemic ulcer on his left heel was referred to our facility by a local dermatology clinic. Surgical revascularization was performed between the popliteal artery and the dorsalis pedis artery using an ipsilateral great saphenous vein as the graft vessel. The wound site did not heal postoperatively, so it was covered using a free latissimus dorsi muscle flap. At the same time, the thoracodorsal artery was anastomosed to the bypass graft in an end-to-side manner to serve as a nutrient vessel. Initially, blood flow into the thoracodorsal artery from the bypass graft was via the popliteal artery. However, after occlusion of the proximal anastomotic site of the bypass graft, blood flow into the thoracodorsal artery from the bypass graft was via the dorsalis pedis artery, which was the distal anastomotic site. The change in direction of blood flow might have been the result of an increase in blood flow in the collateral vessels in the ischemic lower leg, which eventually overwhelmed the blood flow in the bypass graft.

Free Flap Salvage in the Ischemic Foot: A Case Report

        Dongkyung Seo,Yutaka Dannnoura,Riku Ishii,Keisuke Tada,Kunihiro Kawashima,Tetsunori Yoshida,Katsumi Horiuchi 대한성형외과학회 2022 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.49 No.5

We performed distal bypass and free flap transfer in a single-stage operation to repair an extensive soft tissue defect in an ischemic foot of an 84-year-old woman. The nutrient artery of the free flap was anastomosed to the bypass graft in an end-to-side manner. Subsequently, the bypass graft became occluded on several occasions. Although intravascular and surgical interventions were performed each time, the bypass graft eventually became completely occluded. However, despite late occlusion of the nutrient artery, the free flap has remained viable and the patient is ambulatory. The time required for a transplanted free flap to become completely viable without a nutrient artery is likely longer for an ischemic foot compared with a healthy foot. However, the exact period of time required is not known. A period of month was required in our patient. We report this case to help clarify the process by which a free flap becomes viable when applied to an ischemic foot.
