      • Prognostic Significance of Beta-Catenin Expression in Patients with Esophageal Carcinoma: a Meta-analysis

        Zeng, Rong,Duan, Lei,Kong, Yu-Ke,Wu, Xiao-Lu,Wang, Ya,Xin, Gang,Yang, Ke-Hu Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.15

Many studies have reported ${\beta}$-catenin involvement in the development of esophageal carcinoma (EC), but its prognostic significance for EC patients remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis to explore the issue in detail. After searching PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, we included a total of ten relevant studies. We pooled the overall survival (OS) data using RevMan 5.2 software. The results showed that aberrant expression of ${\beta}$-catenin was associated with a significant increase of mortality risk (hazard ratio 1.71, 95%CI 1.46-2.01; p<0.00001). Subgroup analyses further suggested that aberrant expression of ${\beta}$-catenin resulted in poor OS of EC patients regardless of histological type of EC, study location or criteria for aberrant expression of ${\beta}$-catenin, and the sensitivity analyses revealed that the result was robust. The meta-analysis revealed that aberrant expression of ${\beta}$-catenin could be a predicative factor of poor prognosis for EC patients.

USP18 promotes the growth in hemangiomas by regulating PI3K/AKT pathway

        Ke Huan,Ma Xiang,Zeng Ying,Lu Jingjing,Fu Guili 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2021 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.17 No.4

Background USP (ubiquitin-specific peptidase) 18 functions as deubiquitinating enzyme and participates in various human malignancies. The underlying mechanism involved in USP18-mediated hemangiomas progression has not been reported yet. Objective Immunohistochemistry analysis, qRT-PCR, and western blot were applied to detect USP18 expression in hemangioma tissues and cells. Lentiviral-mediated short hairpin RNA transfection was performed to silence USP18, and pcDNA-mediated USP18 over-expression was also performed. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation assay and flow cytometry were applied to investigate cell viability, proliferation, and apoptosis, respectively. In vivo xenograft model was performed to detect function of USP18 on tumor growth. Results USP18 was enhanced in hemangioma tissues and cells compared to vascular endothelial tissues and vascular endothelial cells, respectively. Forced USP18 promoted cell viability and proliferation of human hemangioma endothelial cell (HemEC) and hemangioendothelioma endothelial cell (EOMA). Cell apoptosis of HemEC and EOMA were repressed by USP18 over-expression with reduced Bax and cleaved caspase-3. In contrast, silence of USP18 demonstrated the opposite effects on HemEC and EOMA cell viability, proliferation, and apoptosis. Silence of USP18 also retarded in vivo tumorigenicity of hemangiomas. Phosphorylation of AKT was enhanced by USP18 over-expression, while reduced by USP18 silence. Conclusion USP18 functioned as an oncogene in hemangiomas through acceleration of cell proliferation and repression of cell apoptosis, providing new insight for therapy of hemangiomas. • Optimization of Distributed Generation Integrated into Micro Grids Considering the Correlation of DGs

        Zeng Pin-zhuo,Wang Ke-you,Li Guo-jie,Jiang Xiu-chen 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.8 No.6

Optimal allocation of distributed generations (DGs) integrated into micro grids can significantly improve the stability and benefit the economy of micro grid operation. However, optimal micro grid planning is a kind of multi-dimensional and non-linear optimization problem. In this study, a multi-objective model is established by adopting the objective function which minimizes network loss, electricity price and operation cost; an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm with better optimizing performance is proposed by improving the initializing method and parameter control as well as average minimum and mutation factor are introduced. The proposed IPSO algorithm is then applied to a 29-node micro grid network structure. The comparison between different optimization schemes demonstrates the significance of optimal placement of DGs in micro grids. And it is also clear that the IPSO algorithm proposed in this study can effectively solve such problems.

Neodymium disilicate ceramic pigment synthesized by solid-state method with pre-grinding and mineralizer

Shanjun Ke,Yanmin Wang,Zhidong Pan,He-Ping Zeng 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2019 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.20 No.3

A ceramic pigment of neodymium disilicate (i.e., Nd2Si2O7) was synthesized via solid-state reaction with pre-grinding assistanceand a mineralizer. The effects of pre-grinding and mineralizer (i.e., lithium chloride, boric acid and calcium fluoride) on thephase, microstructure and coloring properties of ceramic pigment were investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-raydiffraction, scanning electron microscopy and reflectance spectra in the visible range from 400 nm to 700 nm, respectively. Theresults show that the reaction temperature of Nd2Si2O7 can be decreased by pre-grinding, and the temperature of forming soleNd2Si2O7 phase is further decreased by 200 oC when lithium chloride is used as a mineralizer. Boric acid as a mineralizer canlead to an uneven distribution of Nd and Si components. The sample synthesized with calcium fluoride as a mineralizer cannotobtain Nd2Si2O7 phase. Nd2Si2O7 can be synthesized effectively when lithium chloride is used as a mineralizer.

miR-101 Inhibiting Cell Proliferation, Migration and Invasion in Hepatocellular Carcinoma through Downregulating Girdin

        Cao, Ke,Li, Jingjing,Zhao, Yong,Wang, Qi,Zeng, Qinghai,He, Siqi,Yu, Li,Zhou, Jianda,Cao, Peiguo Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2016 Molecules and cells Vol.39 No.2

miR-101 is considered to play an important role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the underlying molecular mechanism remains to be elucidated. Here, we aimed to confirm whether Girdin is a target gene of miR-101 and determine the tumor suppressor of miR-101 through Girdin pathway. In our previous studies, we firstly found Girdin protein was overexpressed in HCC tissues, and it closely correlated to tumor size, T stage, TNM stage and Edmondson-Steiner stage of HCC patients. After specific small interfering RNA of Girdin was transfected into HepG2 and Huh7.5.1 cells, the proliferation and invasion ability of tumor cells were significantly inhibited. In this study, we further explored the detailed molecular mechanism of Girdin in HCC. Interestingly, we found that miR-101 significantly low-expressed in HCC tissues compared with that in matched normal tissues while Girdin had a relative higher expression, and miR-101 was inversely correlated with Girdin expression. In addition, after miR-101 transfection, the proliferation, migration and invasion abilities of HepG2 cells were weakened. Furthermore, we confirmed that Girdin is a direct target gene of miR-101. Finally we confirmed Talen-mediated Girdin knockout markedly suppressed cell proliferation, migration and invasion in HCC while downregulation of miR-101 significantly restored the inhibitory effect. Our findings suggested that miR-101/Girdin axis could be a potential application of HCC treatment.

Preparation and thermodynamic equilibrium analysis of neodymium disilicate via sol-precipitation and sintering

Shanjun Ke,Yanmin Wang,Zhidong Pan,He-Ping Zeng 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2020 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.21 No.3

Neodymium disilicate powders were synthesized via a sol-precipitation method with different precipitants (i.e., ammonia, ammonium bicarbonate and urea) and subsequent sintering. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction. In addition,a theoretical relationship between neodymium ion concentrations in different precipitation equilibrium solutions was alsoinvestigated and analyzed based on thermodynamic equilibrium calculation. The results show that the precipitant type has animpact on the phase compositions of the precursors and the sintered products. In the synthesis, neodymium ions can becompletely precipitated as amorphous neodymium hydroxide with ammonia as a precipitate at pH 8~9. For ammoniumbicarbonate as a precipitate, the precursor type is related to both carbon concentration and pH value. The excessive hydroxideforms neodymium hydroxycarbonate in a heated urea solution. The possible formation mechanism of silicon sol in the presenceof different precipitants was discussed.

Investigating the factors affecting the residential satisfaction of new-generation migrants: a case study of Hangzhou in China

        Hui Zeng,Qiulin Ke,Xiaofen Yu 서울시립대학교 도시과학연구원 2021 도시과학국제저널 Vol.25 No.1

This paper examines the residential satisfaction of new-generation migrants in the Chinese context. The study uses the survey data of residential satisfaction of new-generation migrants in Hangzhou. The ordered logit model is employed to examine the factors affecting the residential satisfaction of new-generation migrants, a special group of the workforce in metropolitan cities of China. Unlike the previous studies of residential satisfaction of rural migrant workers in Chinese cities, we find that the residential satisfaction of new-generation migrants does follow the standard patterns identified in the literature; the socio-demographic attributes such as gender, education, income, housing characteristics of size and the quality of kitchen and sanitary facilities and neighbourhood environment and location factors such as the distance to work place, accessibility to employment and other location and the availability of entertaining amenities are significant determinants of residential satisfaction of new-generation migrants. Additionally, the institutional factors such as tenancy agreement signed with landlord and lease length, which provides tenants with residential stability and security have a significant impact on residential satisfaction. This finding has policy implication of regulating the growing rental housing market in China. This finding also complements the existing research on residential satisfaction.
