Distributions of Patterns of Two Failures Separated by Success Runs of Length k

Kanwar Sen,Babita Goyal 한국통계학회 2004 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.33 No.1

For xed positive integersn and k (n k + 2), the exact probabilitydistributions of non-overlapping and overlapping patterns of two failuresseparated by (i) exactlyk successes, (ii) at leastk successes and (iii) atmostk successes have been obtained for Bernoulli independent and Markovdependent trials by using combinatorial technique. The waiting time dis-tributions for the rst occurrence and therth (r > 1) occurrence of thepatterns have also been obtained.

      • An Integrated Potentiostat

Puneet Kanwar Kaur,이수은,김병섭 한국과학기술원 반도체설계교육센터 2017 IDEC Journal of Integrated Circuits and Systems Vol.3 No.3

This paper proposes an integrated potentiostat circuit to realize a compact, power-efficient, and cost-efficient biosensor driving circuit. The proposed potentiostat consists of two integrated operational amplifiers, each of which can be configured with negative feedback to perform potentiostat functionality. When configured as a potentiostat, the control operational amplifier controls the voltage of the counter electrode of the sensor to make the voltage difference between the reference and the working electrodes of the sensor to be identical to the input voltage fed by an external digital-to-analog converter. The other operational amplifier is configured as a transimpedance amplifier which converts the sensing current to the voltage, which is digitally converted by an external analog-to-digital converter. In the experiment, the proposed potentiostat is assembled with digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, control-logics, and a laptop computer to form a portable and low-cost bio-sensor platform. With this platform enabled by our chip, users can easily and cost-efficiently generate the necessary control signals such as cyclic waves for bio-sensors.

Static structural analysis of crankshaft for single cylinder camless engine

Gill, Kanwar J.S.,Cho, Haeng Muk,Lim, Hee Chang,Chauhan, Bhupendra Singh,Park, Dae Ho The Korean Society for Energy 2014 에너지공학 Vol.23 No.3

The crankshaft is a complex component, and as such, the influence of its geometric parameters on stresses seen under service loads is not well understood. The objectives of this work is to investigate the effects of a wide range of geometric parameters on stresses in crankshafts, to find correlation between results and to formulate simple methods of predicting peak stress levels: It is intended to achieve this by use of fatigue method. Analyses are carried out in 2D and 3D, making use of symmetry as far as possible. Variations in stresses are plotted over a wide range for each of the parameters. The analysis methods give accurate results for stress analysis of crankshafts and offer several advantages over traditional experimental techniques; they are ideally suited to parametric analyses, can be carried out relatively quickly, results are repeatable because boundary conditions can be exactly defined, and the cost of analysis is significantly reduced. The analysis is carried out in ANSYS for crankshaft along for single cylinder camless engine.

DISTRIBUTIONS OF PATTERNS OF TWO FAILURES SEPARATED BY SUCCESS RUNS OF LENGTH $\textit{k}$

Sen, Kanwar,Goyal, Babita The Korean Statistical Society 2004 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.33 No.1

For fixed positive integers and $\textit{k}\;(n\;{\geq}\;{\textit{k}}\;+\;2)$, the exact probability distributions of non-overlapping and overlapping patterns of two failures separated by (i) exactly $textsc{k}$ successes, (ii) at least $\textit{k}$ successes and (iii) at most $\textit{k}$ successes have been obtained for Bernoulli independent and Markov dependent trials by using combinatorial technique. The waiting time distributions for the first occurrence and the $r^{th}$ (r > 1) occurrence of the patterns have also been obtained.

Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome: A Functional Disorder

        Ajay Kaul,Kanwar K. Kaul 대한소아소화기영양학회 2015 Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition Vol.18 No.4

Cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) is a functional disorder characterized by stereotypical episodes of intense vomiting separated by weeks to months. Although it can occur at any age, the most common age at presentation is 3-7 years. There is no gender predominance. The precise pathophysiology of CVS is not known but a strong association with migraine headaches, in the patient as well as the mother indicates that it may represent a mitochondriopathy. Studies have also suggested the role of an underlying autonomic neuropathy involving the sympathetic nervous system in its pathogenesis. CVS has known triggers in many individuals and avoiding these triggers can help prevent the onset of the episodes. It typically presents in four phases: a prodrome, vomiting phase, recovery phase and an asympto-matic phase until the next episode. Complications such as dehydration and hematemesis from Mallory Wise tear of the esophageal mucosa may occur in more severe cases. Blood and urine tests and abdominal imaging may be indicated depending upon the severity of symptoms. Brain magnetic resonance imaging and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy may also be indicated in certain circumstances. Management of an episode after it has started (‘abortivetreatment’) includes keeping the patient in a dark and quiet room, intravenous hydration, ondansetron, sumatriptan, clonidine, and benzodiazepines. Prophylactic treatment includes cyproheptadine, propranolol and amitriptyline. No mortality has been reported as a direct result of CVS and many children outgrow it over time. A subset may develop other functional disorders like irritable bowel syndrome and migraine headaches.

Agrobacterium-Mediated Cry1A(b) Gene Transfer in Punica granatum L. cv. Kandhari Kabuli Using Different In Vitro Regeneration Pathways

Verma, Vipasha,Kanwar, Kamlesh,Tufchi, Mahak,Kashyap, Monika 한국작물학회 2014 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.17 No.1

Three different regeneration systems, viz. regeneration through callus cultures using embryonic explant, direct regeneration using shoot bud/nodal segments as explant and regeneration through cell suspension culture using cotyledonary explant (for the induction of transgenic callus for suspension culture) were evaluated to see their effect on transfer of Cry1A(b) gene to Punica granatum L. cv. Kandhari Kabuli through Agrobacterium mediated transformation. Pre-conditioning and co-cultivation durations had a marked effect on transformation frequency of different explants. Out of different explants used (embryo, shoot bud, and cotyledon) for different regeneration systems cotyledonary explant showed highest putative transformation frequency (13.54%) inducing callus on selective medium for carrying out cell suspension culture to regenerate transgenic shoots. Despite of the highest transformation frequency obtained from the cotyledon explant, the plating efficiency of the transgenic cells generated through the transgenic callus (callus formed from the cotyledonary explant) during cell suspension culture was found to be very low (0.7%). Thus the plating efficiency has also played worth mentioning role in the regeneration of transformants following cell suspension culture. Among the three regeneration systems, regeneration through callus cultures using embryonic explant was found to be best for regeneration of transformants. The highest per cent regeneration of 23.33 was obtained from the putative transgenic embrogenic calli. Successful genetic transformation in the transformed plantlets was confirmed by PCR analysis. The transformation system thus developed is valuable and may be used to produce insect resistant trees.

      • Electromagnetic Electron-Cyclotron Wave for Ring Distribution with Alternating Current (AC) Electric Field in Saturn Magnetosphere

Haridas, Annex Edappattu,Kanwar, Shefali,Pandey, Rama Shankar The Korean Space Science Society 2022 Journal of astronomy and space sciences Vol.39 No.2

During their respective missions, the spacecraft Voyager and Cassini measured several Saturn magnetosphere parameters at different radial distances. As a result of information gathered throughout the journey, Voyager 1 discovered hot and cold electron distribution components, number density, and energy in the 6-18 Rs range. Observations made by Voyager of intensity fluctuations in the 20-30 keV range show electrons are situated in the resonance spectrum's high energy tail. Plasma waves in the magnetosphere can be used to locate Saturn's inner magnetosphere's plasma clusters, which are controlled by Saturn's spin. Electromagnetic electron cyclotron (EMEC) wave ring distribution function has been investigated. Kinetic and linear approaches have been used to study electromagnetic cyclotron (EMEC) wave propagation. EMEC waves' stability can be assessed by analyzing the dispersion relation's effect on the ring distribution function. The primary goal of this study is to determine the impact of the magnetosphere parameters which is observed by Cassini. The magnetosphere of Saturn has also been observed. When the plasma parameters are increased as the distribution index, the growth/damping rate increases until the magnetic field model affects the magnetic field at equator, as can be seen in the graphs. We discuss the outputs of our model in the context of measurements made in situ by the Cassini spacecraft.
