In this work, the technique of spin arc welding has been used to weld HSLA steel of grade 15CDV6. Experiments wereperformed according to the L9 Taguchi matrix using current, travel speed, wire feed rate, and spin rotation speed as inputparameters. The quality of the weld was analysed by measuring the bead geometry and microhardness. The Whale OptimizationAlgorithm (WOA) was used to identify the optimized welding parameters. The optimised parameters were identifiedthrough WOA as follows: current 230 A, voltage 24 V, travel speed 720 mm/min, and spin rotation speed 1500 rpm. Thepost-weld heat treatment (PWHT) was performed on the optimised welded sample to enhance the weld properties. Themicrohardness was increased by 79% after PWHT. Ferrite content was found to have reduced after welding and PWHT thegrain size and structure of the BM, HAZ, and WM were analysed by EBSD technique. The decrease in ferrite content hada significant effect on the microhardness. The Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy results showed the presence of Vanadiumcarbide (VC) precipitates which helped in increasing the microhardness.

Metal oxide such as binary nanostructured mixed metal oxide has made new diversion to heterogeneous catalytic applications such as water splitting and electrochemical degradation of organic pollutant. Addition of cobalt oxide with lead oxides result increased catalytic activity with widened potential window in alkaline environment. High temperature preparation of PbO2 leads higher oxidation state of Pb. In order to solve high temperature preparation and energy consumption, here we started synthesize a CoOX/PbO2 binary nano material at room temperature. At first, precursors of cobalt and Pb reduced to nano metals followed by chemical oxidation using NaOCl at RT. The Surface and Morphology of MMO were characterized by XRD, TEM and SEM. The prepared mixed oxides were used to apply electrochemical reduction of nitrobenzene in alkaline medium.

Tower insulators in electric power transmission network play a crucial role in preserving the reliability of the system. Electrical utilities frequently face the problem of flashover of insulators due to pollution deposition on their surface. Several research works based on leakage current (LC) measurement has been already carried out in developing diagnostic techniques for these insulators. Since the LC signal is highly intermittent in nature, estimation of pollution severity based on LC signal measurement over a short period of time will not produce accurate results. Reports on the measurement and analysis of LC signals over a long period of time is scanty. This paper attempts to use Random Forest (RF) classifier, which produces accurate results on large data bases, to analyze the pollution severity of high voltage tower insulators. Leakage current characteristics over a long period of time were measured in the laboratory on porcelain insulator. Pollution experiments were conducted at 11 kV AC voltage. Time domain analysis and wavelet transform technique were used to extract both basic features and histogram features of the LC signal. RF model was trained and tested with a variety of LC signals measured over a lengthy period of time and it is noticed that the proposed RF model based pollution severity classifier is efficient and will be helpful to electrical utilities for real time implementation.

The metal coordination geometry in the active site of metalloproteins are very different from the one of small inorganic complexes, due to the inflexibility of the ligand set from amino acid side chains different from freely moving ligand set in synthesis. Using the sterically hindered 2,6-di-(p-fluorophenyl)benzoate(L) ligand, a series of mononuclear Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of general formula [M(L)2(Hdmpz)2] (where, Hdmpz=3,5-dimethyl pyrazole) have been synthesized and characterized by the variety of spectroscopic methods. A distorted octahedral geometry in case of nickel, tetrahedral geometry for cobalt and square pyramidal in copper was observed in the X-ray studies, which also revealed that the uncoordinated oxygen atom of the carboxylate group forms intramolecular hydrogen bonding with the N-H group of the coordinated 3,5-dimethylpyrazole in case of cobalt and copper.
A New Symmetric Multilevel Inverter Topology Using Single and Double Source Sub-Multilevel Inverters
Kannan Ramani,Mohd. Ali Jagabar Sathik,Selvam Sivakumar 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.1
In recent years, the multilevel converters have been given more attention due to their modularity, reliability, failure management and multi stepped output waveform with less total harmonic distortion. This paper presents a novel symmetric multilevel inverter topology with reduced switching components to generate a high quality stepped sinusoidal voltage waveform. The series and parallel combinations of switches in the proposed topology reduce the total number of conducting switches in each level of output voltages. In addition, a comparison between the proposed topology with another topology from the literature is presented. To verify the proposed topology, the computer based simulation model is developed using MATLAB/Simulink and experimentally with a prototype model results are then compared.

A novel ruthenium(II) complex, [$RuCl_2(DMSO)_2$(PhenTPy)] has been synthesized by the condensation of $RuCl_2(DMSO)_4$ with (1-(1,10-phenanthrolinyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrole)[PhenTPy] in $CHCl_3$ solution. The [$RuCl_2(DMSO)_2$(PhenTPy)] complex modified electrode was fabricated through the electropolymerization of the monomer in a 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBAP)/$CH_2Cl_2$ solution, to take advantage of the electronic communication between metal ion center by the conjugated backbone. The UV-visible spectroscopy (UV), mass spectrometry (MS), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were employed to characterize the [$RuCl_2(DMSO)_2$(PhenTPy)] complex and its polymer (poly-Ru(II)Phen complex). The poly-Ru(II)Phen complex modified electrode exhibited an electrocatalytic activity to the oxidation of acetaminophen and the catalytic property was used for the analysis of acetaminophen at the concentration range between 0.09 and 0.01 mM in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0).

Measurement of toxicologically relevant polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners such as non-ortho(IUPAC#) 77, 81, 126, 169 and mono-ortho 105, 114, 118, 123, 156, 157, 189 and di-ortho 170, 180 and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) such as 47, 66, 85, 99, 100, 138, 153, 154 in environmental samples become almost mandatory in several countries now. However, most of the available methods involve expensive instrumentations such as HRGC-HRMS or ECNI-LRMS, apart from expensive extraction and clean-up (with large volume of solvents) steps. A method has been devised combining the analytical separation power of PYE [2-(1-pyrenyl)ethyldimethysilylated silica] column HPLC and high-resolution gas chromatographic techniques including micro-electron capture detection (ECD) and two dimensional gas chromatograpy-ECD techniques to determine these eco-toxic substances at parts-per-trillion (ppt) levels. This combination resolves co-elution of congeners that occur in disproportionate ratios (e.g. CB-110 and -77) and allows accurate congener-specific determination of target compounds. This method is cost effective as it requires only hexane, that in small quantities (10 mL) and GC-ECD. The elution and analysis time are optimized to less man hours. This method is effectively utilized in the analysis of co-planar PCBs and PBDEs from archived solvent extracts of samples previously analyzed for pesticides and PCBs. Structure based separation of contaminant classes improves GCECD determination at ppt levels.
