Japan`s Position on Suspected Nuclear Weapons Development by North Korea

( Koji Kakizawa ) 한국국방연구원 1992 The Korean Journal of Defense Analysis Vol.4 No.1

The international community is today seriously concerned that North Korea might be developing a nuclear weapons capability. Although North Korea has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it has yet to implement a Safeguards Agreement it signed with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). While North Korea has repeatedly promised to allow inspections, these promises remain just promises. Seeking to remove any excuse for North Korea`s stalling, the United States and Republic of Korea have taken some initiatives for a nuclear-free Peninsula. The Rus-sian Federation and China have also joined in decrying any move by North Korea to acquire nuclear weapons. Recognizing its vital national interest in a nuclear-free Peninsula and knowing all too well the horror of nuclear war, Japan has also pressed North Korea to implement IAEA inspections and to allay the international community`s fears. Japan does not have diplomatic relations with North Korea, but it has utilized the Japan-North Korea normalization talks and other for a to urge North Korea to back its words with deeds. Although procedural questions have tended to obscure the sub-stantive issues involved, it is these substantive issues that are central. There can be no resting until North Korea opens its sites and proves that it has neither the intention nor the capability to develop nuclear weapons. Japan will thus continue to press for credible results and a nuclear-free Peninsula.

Inverse gamma kernel density estimation for nonnegative data

Yoshihide Kakizawa,Gaku Igarashi 한국통계학회 2017 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.46 No.2

This paper considers a varying asymmetric kernel estimation of the density f for nonnegative data. Regardless of f (0) = 0 or f (0) > 0, it is important to give a good varying shape/scale parameter for the inverse gamma (IGam) kernel, due to the problem of f (0) = 0 in some existing literature. After reformulating the IGam kernel density estimator, asymptotic properties like mean integrated squared error, mean integrated absolute error, strong consistency, and asymptotic normality are investigated in detail, under some conditions on the target density f . Simulation studies are conducted to compare the proposed IGam kernel density estimators with the existing gamma kernel density estimators.

Gene Constitution of Egg White Proteins of Native Chicken in Asian Countries

        Kinoshita, K.,Okamoto, S.,Shimogiri, T.,Kawabe, K.,Nishida, T.,Kakizawa, R.,Yamamoto, Y.,Maeda, Y. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2002 Animal Bioscience Vol.15 No.2

Genetic variations of seven egg white protein loci in 1,112 samples from eight Asian countries (Yunnan province of China, Mongolia, Nepal, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia) and 360 samples from two improved breeds (Isa Brown, Boris Brown) were investigated by using starch gel and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Five egg white protein loci (Ov, $G_3$, $G_2$, $G_1$ and $Tf_{EW}$) were found to be polymorphic in Asian native chicken populations. The proportion of polymorphic loci ($P_{poly}$) and average heterozygosity ($\bar{H}$) of Asian native populations varied from 0.143 to 0.714 and 0.014 to 0.225, respectively, and were higher than those of improved breeds. The subdivision index ($G_{ST}$) value among 18 native chicken populations in Asia is lower (0.0827) than among improved chicken populations (0.1693). This value means that the degree of subdivision among Asian native populations is lower than among improved breeds and gene constitutions among populations in Asia are similar.
