OS Functions for a Distributed FPGA Cluster System

In reconfigurable computer systems that have reconfigurable resources like FPGA, CPLD etc., OS functions will be necessary to improve utilization of the systems. We have been studying OS functions for these reconfigurable systems. Our first target hardware was tightly coupled FPGA cluster using shared bus and it is easy to access reconfigurable resources, but it is difficult to increase the number of resources. Our second target system is distributed FPGA cluster that is connected by network and it is easy to increase the number of reconfigurable resources, but complicated network handling is necessary to communicate between host computer and reconfigurable resources. In this paper, OS functions for the distributed FPGA cluster system are described, which provide communication services and have compatible simple programming interface with the first target hardware.

A new parallel type voltage sag compensator is proposed. The proposed system can reduce the necessary capacity of a storage capacitor for voltage sag compensation by boost type power factor correction rectifier getting charging energy from residual voltage of utilities as it compensates the load voltage. This paper shows principle and control system of the proposed circuit. Compensation<br/> performances are demonstrated by experiments.

Many researchers and companies have been interested in computer systems which have reconfigurable devices as programmable resources. Current Reconfigurable systems (RC systems) are basically single task systems, but the number of reconfigurable devices in these systems has increased so that multitasking environment for the systems are required to use the devices efficiently. In this paper, we develop the OS functions to support executing user programs which use FPGAs as customized hardware in multitasking environment. The target system consists of a host compute and FPGAs. The functions are implemented on the target system as RCOS server. RC-OS server supports management of FPGA resources and communication control between host computer and FPGA resources. We develop the programs which use the RC-OS functions, and executed them in multitasking environment on our prototype RC system. As the result, it shows that RC-OS server improves the usability of target system.
Amodeling of pedestrian flow based on MLD system approach

A simulation model of pedestrian flow is introduced based on Mixed Logical Dynamical(MLD) system approach. Based on the proposed model, the effect of an obstacle placed infront of the exit is investigated in terms of the flow coefficientand the evacuation time.
Observations of Weak Heat Flux due to Phase Transitions in CsPbX3(X=Cl, Br)

We have established a system for detecting weak heat ux due to phase transitions by a combination of DTA by using the mK-stabilized cell" previously developed and treatment by both the moving average and the box car integrator by using a personal computer. By the system, the existence of a phase transition in CsPbCl3 was conrmed, having been observed by our X-ray diraction study, and the phase transition series was reported to be predominant, having a heterostructure. Weak heat ux was also observed in CsPbBr3, having been conrmed to be phase transitions by X-ray diraction. The phase transition temperatures in CsPbX3(X = Cl, Br) recognized by the heat ux measurements are in excellent agreement with the results of NQR measurements.
H<SUP>2</SUP> performance on multiple preview compensation

The effect of preview feedforward action is investigated in terms of the H<SUP>2</SUP> performance. We first establish a result on H<SUP>2</SUP> multiple preview compensation for stabilized control systems and clarify the relation between the preview time and the achievable performance. The result is applied to standard H<SUP>2</SUP> control problem and the control law and the achievable performance are clarified. The feature of H<SUP>2</SUP> multiple preview action is illustrated with a numerical example.
