To develop a compact vehicle for women, the most important areas are ‘behavioral characteristics, life style and driving posture’. Static AM95%ile manikin is used for package guideline of HKMC. Since women’s characteristics and sitting position are different from men, however, the guideline cannot satisfy women drivers. Therefore, the goal of this study is to make the database with dynamic women’s driving posture and behavioral characteristics at compact vehicle. Research process will be made as follows. Firstly, through the online/offline survey and statistic analysis, lifestyle and behavioral characteristics (discomfort elements) of women are extracted. Secondly, the author performs scenario test to acquire the discomfort value of driving situation and life style. 3D models of women’s manikin and driving posture were created by CATIA HUMAN. The 3D models are used for the purpose of analyzing women’s driving posture. Finally, with the ANOVA result and comparison between real driving posture and package guidelines, the author is able to suggest the main issue for women drivers

The purpose of this study is to categorize and analyze the body shape of obese Korean men that are needed for industrial design. Using the anthropometric data that were surveyed through the 5th Size Korea project, this study was conducted in four steps mostly through the multivariate statistical analysis. In the first step, Broca, BMI, WHR indices are used to define obesity and select obese men from Korean adults and teens. After 34 human anthropometric variables are supposed to be related to obesity were extracted through an expect survey. In the second step, a factor analysis was executed for those human anthropometric variables. Through this analysis, we obtained the human body factors that are related to the representation of obesity. Then the third step, we used a cluster analysis from the result of the factor analysis. And ANOVA analysis was also conducted to obtain the critical obese human anthropometric variables. In the final step, we found the characteristics of the body types of obese men according to clusters and ages. The body types of obese men classified in the study are expected to be applied to product design for clothing, furniture, automobile packaging, etc.

The purpose of this study is to determine preferred locations for various in-vehicle controls that require manipulation during vehicle operation and to analyze differences of customer’s preference between Korean drivers and American drivers. 23 in-vehicle controls that are related to the interior design of vehicles were considered in terms of the frequency of use and the need for quick operation. They are switches for outside rearview mirrors, cruise controls, etc. Frequency of use means how often this control is operated while staying in a vehicle, either stationary or moving and the need for quick operation means how important it is to be able to operate this control quickly when needed. For each of the listed controls, Korean drivers and American drivers evaluated preferred locations according to the frequency of use and the need for quick operation by subjective ratings in 9-point scales. Among 8 predefined zones inside a vehicle, Korean drivers and American drivers were asked to select at least one choice for locating each of the controls. 8 zones inside vehicle defined for this survey were door trim, center fascia and so on. 30 Korean drivers with driving experiences of 9 years on the average and 30 American drivers with driving experiences of 21 years on the average participated in the survey as subjects. The survey suggests that there exist certain perceptual differences between Korean and American drivers regarding the frequency of use and the need for quick operation. Also, there are differences in determining preferred locations for various in-vehicle controls. The results also indicated that Korean drivers are different from American drivers such as culture patterns, mental propensity, a way of thinking in subjective preference. Therefore, various in-vehicle controls must be properly researched before the design is determined the location of.

Objective: In this study, we want to define the Center Fascia design variables in automobiles and see how each variable affects the sense of luxuriousness. Background: Since modern consumers take the functional part of purchasing products for granted, various studies are being conducted to enhance the aesthetic and emotional satisfaction of the products. In the automobile market as well, we are responding to the consumption trends of these users, and the increase in size and number of internal displays has had a major impact on the interior of the room. Method: Quantification theory I was performed to confirm the effect of design variables on the sub-item of sense of luxury, and regression analysis was performed to confirm the effect of the sub-item of sense of luxuriousness on the sense of luxuriousness. Results: The display is horizontal, the bezel size is Small and Medium, and the material is Plastic and Chrome, with a combination of design variables that give a luxuriousness. Conclusion: Identify significant differences in the driver’s luxuriousness for each combination of Center Fascia design variables. Application: As a result of this study, the Center Fascia design guidelines that can enhance the driver’s luxuriousness were presented.

Nowadays high-heel shoes are one of the most popular fashion items for women. According to internal survey, approximately 40% women are driving their cars in high-heels. And simultaneoulsy they also have some complaint while driving and getting on-off in high-heels. The purpose of this paper is to examine how they manipulate pedal in high-heels with camera recording and to suggest improvement idea and also to verify validity of each idea.

Consumers tend to evaluate overall satisfaction of a car by attribute-level performance, not overall-level. The impact of attribute-level performance on car overall satisfaction can be analyzed using the Structural Equation Model. In this paper, The attributes of a car are classified with the car package attribute-level at the product development point of view. This classification has advantages that the result of the analysis can be applied to practical development process. Finally, the impact of car package attribute-level performance on car overall satisfaction and repurchase & recommendation intentions is analyzed using the Structural Equation Model based on the survey data in India.
