This paper investigates the effect of 3-dimensional FE models to evaluation results of jointed concrete pavements which is back-calculated by AREA method. Sensitivity of 3-dimensional FE models developed to simulate the behavior of real jointed concrete pavement are analyzed after compared with 2-dimensional FE models using ILLISLAB. In comparison with 2-dimensional models, influence of concrete contraction under loading plate and base layer on surface deflections is more than that of loading configuration. Deflections at 3-dimensional model between linear and nonlinear temperature distribution under same temperature difference are similar, but noticeable differences are investigated in low elastic modulus of foundations. Dynamic deflections under loading plate are larger than static deflections in high elastic modulus of foundation, but smaller in low elastic modulus. Lower dynamic modulus of subgrade reactions are backcalculated by dynamic deflections than by static deflections. But reverse trend is investigated in the backcalculated elastic modulus of concrete which describes trends of the field backcalculation values calculated from AREA method.

Abstract

Adipocyte dysfunction is associated with the development of obesity. In this study, artemisinic acid, which was isolated from Artemisia annua L., inhibited adipogenic differentiation of human adipose tissue‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs) and its mechanism of action was determined. The mRNA levels of peroxidase proliferation‐activated receptor (PPAR) γ and CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP) α, late adipogenic factors, were reduced by artemisinic acid. Moreover, the mRNA levels of the PPAR γ target genes lipoprotein lipase, CD36, adipocyte protein, and liver X receptor were down‐regulated by artemisinic acid. Artemisinic acid reduced expression of the C/EBP δ gene without impacting C/EBP β. In addition, attempts to elucidate a possible mechanism underlying the artemisinic acid‐mediated effects revealed that reduced expression of the C/EBP δ gene was mediated by inhibiting Jun N‐terminal kinase (JNK). Additionally, artemisinic acid also reduced the expression of the adipogenesis‐associated genes glucose transporter‐4 and vascular endothelial growth factor. In addition to the interference of artemisinic acid with adipogenesis, artemisinic acid significantly attenuated tumor necrosis factor‐α‐induced secretion of interleukin‐6 by undifferentiated hAMSCs, thus influencing insulin resistance and the inflammatory state characterizing obesity. Taken together, these findings indicate that inhibiting adipogenic differentiation of hAMSCs by artemisinic acid occurs primarily through reduced expression of C/EBP δ, which is mediated by the inhibition of JNK and suggest that aremisinic acid may be used as a complementary treatment option for obesity associated with metabolic syndrome. In order to perform photovoltaic (PV) operation and management (O&M) efficiently, individual PV module monitoring is becoming more important. In this research, we developed wireless IoT sensor which can monitor individual photovoltaic modules. This IoT sensor can detect the output voltage, current and module temperature of individual modules and provide monitored data by wireless communication. Measured voltage error was 1.23%, and it shows 16.6 dBM, 0.42sec and 7.1 mA for voltage, transmittance output, response time and mean power consumption, respectively. IoT sensors were demonstrated in the test field with real climate environment condition and each of 5 sensors showed precise results of voltage, current and temperature. Also, sensors were compared with commercial power-optimizers and showed result difference within 5%.

In Korea, soil is being transported in and taken out for the purpose of national land development, but the soil is being moved without consideration of soil contamination. Therefore, this is a policy-focused study of the management system on soil moving. In this study, we analyzed current state of domestic and foreign management and suggested three alternatives for management of soil moving in 1) self-regulation, 2) obligatory regulation, 3) phase-in according to types of regulation. In order to establish a clear and reasonable management system for soil movement in the future, it is necessary to improve the legal and institutional limitations of the current soil environmental law as suggested by this study.
