He, Jin-Peng,Hao, Yun,Wang, Xiao-Lin,Yang, Xiao-Jin,Shao, Jing-Fan,Guo, Feng-Jin,Feng, Jie-Xiong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.15
Treating the osteosarcoma (OSA) remains a challenge. Current strategies focus on the primary tumor and have limited efficacy for metastatic OSA. A better understanding of the OSA pathogenesis may provide a rational basis for innovative treatment strategies especially for metastases. The aim of this review is to give an overview of the molecular mechanisms of OSA tumorigenesis, OSA cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and chemotherapy resistance, and how improved understanding might contribute to designing a better treatment target for OSA.

Two dimensional numerical models and physical models have been developed to study the highly nonlinear interactions between waves and breakwaters, but several of these models consider the effects of the structural dynamic responses and the shape of the breakwater axis on the wave pressures. In this study, a multi-material Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) method is developed to simulate the nonlinear interactions between nonlinear waves and elastic seawalls on a coastal rubble mound breakwater, and is validated experimentally. In the experiment, a solitary wave is generated and used with a physical breakwater model. The wave impact is validated computationally using a breakwater - flume coupling model that replicates the physical model. The computational results, including those for the wave pressure and the water-on-deck, are in good agreement with the experimental results. A local breakwater model is used to discuss the effects of the structural dynamic response and different design parameters of the breakwater on wave loads, together with pressure distribution up the seawall. A large-scale breakwater model is used to numerically study the large-scale wave impact problem and the horizontal distribution of the wave pressures on the seawalls.

In order to provide the theory basis for its development to open up a broader space.
Comparison of Three Kinds of Explants in Culture of Russian Wildrye Grass
Lan Yun,Jin-Feng Yun,De-Fu Liu 한국초지조사료학회 2009 한국초지조사료학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2009 No.08
Thee kinds of explants, young spikes, immature and mature embryos, was compared in callus induction, embryogenic callus formation, differentiation and plant regeneration of Russian wildrye. Callus induction efficient of young spikes is highest. The imature embryos formed more somatic embryogenesis, and with highest frequency of embryogenic callus.
Sequence polymorphisms of <i>Plasmodium vivax</i> tryptophan and alanine rich antigen (PvTARAg55)
Jang, Jin Woo,Yun, Seung Gyu,Woo, Mi-Kyung,Han, Eun Taek,Lu, Feng,Gao, Qi,Yoon, Soo Young,An, Seong Soo A.,Lim, Chae Seung Elsevier 2015 Acta tropica Vol.142 No.-
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Since PvTARAg55 protein (<I>PvTARAg55</I>) of <I>Plasmodium vivax</I> (<I>P. vivax</I>) is expressed during the parasite's sporozoite stage, it was strongly suggested, as a potential candidate for the development of a vaccine against malaria. <I>PvTARAg55</I> polymorphisms were examined among isolates from various locations in Asian countries mainly; thus the current study could set the valuable baseline data for the development of a vaccine and clinical trials. A total of 59 samples were collected from Asian countries and one isolate from Africa. <I>PvTARAg55</I> gene from 59 isolates was amplified, sequenced, and analyzed. <I>PvTARAg55</I> contained a highly conserved tryptophan-rich domain (TRD) and a variable alanine-rich domain (ARD). In comparison to the Sal-1 strain, 10 allelic types of <I>PvTARAg55</I> were found among 59 isolates. The main observed variations were the insertions and deletions of repeated sequences in the Ala-rich domain. Four types of GGVAAAP repeats were found at codon 324. Interestingly, GGVAAAP was found to be majority of Sal-1 type in the world. Two repeats (x2) were found in isolates from Korea, China, and India. Type of total deletion of GGVAAAP and three repeat (x3) were found from Indonesia isolates. Furthermore, “second insertion repeats” – with one or two repeats – were found with AFGAPSGFAPRP amino acid sequences at codon 338. Two repeats (x2) of AFGAPSGFAPRP were found in Indonesia, and PNG isolates. Finally, a “third repeat” was present with TTVNPEA amino acid sequences at codon 429 (the Indonesian isolates had three TTVNPEA sequences at that position). Isolates from ROK revealed “conserved sequences” in tryptophan-rich domain of <I>PvTARAg55</I> with single amino acid substitutions (M180I). Hence, the extensive antigenic diversity of <I>PvTARAg55</I> should be taken in account during the vaccine development.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> PvTARAg55 protein (PvTARAg55) is important transmission blocking vaccine candidate. </LI> <LI> We performed sequences analysis of 59 <I>Plasmodium vivax</I> isolates from eight countries. </LI> <LI> Ten allelic types were found in PvTARAg55. </LI> <LI> Extensive antigenic diversity should be taken in account during the vaccine development. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>Amino acid polymorphism in the PvTARAg55 gene of <I>Plasmodium vivax</I> isolates between Korean and worldwide isolates. Background: Epidermal growth factor-like domain multiple 7 (EGFL7), a secreted protein specifically expressed by endothelial cells during embryogenesis, recently was identified as a critical gene in tumor metastasis. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) was found to be closely related with tumor progression. Accordingly, it is important to investigate the migration and EMT change after knock-down of EGFL7 gene expression in human pancreatic cancer cells. Materials and Methods: EGFL7 expression was firstly testified in 4 pancreatic cancer cell lines by real-time polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR) and western blot, and the highest expression of EGFL7 was found in PANC-1 cell line. Then, PANC-1 cells transfected with small interference RNA (siRNA) of EGFL7 using plasmid vector were named si-PANC-1, while transfected with negative control plasmid vector were called NC-PANC-1. Transwell assay was used to analyze the migration of PANC-1 cells. Real-time PCR and western blotting were used to detect the expression change of EGFL7 gene, EMT markers like E-Cadherin, N-Cadherin, Vimentin, Fibronectin and transcription factors like snail, slug in PANC-1, NCPANC-1, and si-PANC-1 cells, respectively. Results: After successful plasmid transfection, EGFL7 gene were dramatically knock-down by RNA interference in si-PANC-1 group. Meanwhile, migration ability decreased significantly, compared with PANC-1 and NC-PANC-1 group. Meanwhile, the expression of epithelial phenotype marker E-Cadherin increased and that of mesenchymal phenotype markers N-Cadherin, Vimentin, Fibronectin dramatically decreased in si-PANC-1 group, indicating a reversion of EMT. Also, transcription factors snail and slug decreased significantly after RNA interference. Conclusions: Current study suggested that highly-expressed EGFL7 promotes migration of PANC-1 cells and acts through transcription factors snail and slug to induce EMT, and further study is needed to confirm this issue.
