Bony depression in the face may occur doe to congenital failure of development trauma or excessive surgical resection. Various materials, autogenous bone, autogenous cartilage and silicone rubber have been employed for bony contour restoration. Since autogenous bone grafts become consolidated with the underlying recipient bones, the incidence of extrusion or deviation of the graft is much fewer. But they may be easily fractured at the time of carving because of their rigidity. Autogenous cartilage grafts do not require contact with the nasal bony framework, but they tend to curl and bend. Using silicone rubber is a simple and fast procedure, but the prosthesis itself is a foreign body which causes occasional foreign body reaction or exposure of the prosthesis. Therefore, the materials, which have such nature as consolidation, complete contact and convenience without complication are considered to be ideal for augmentation of the bony depression. It may be an ideal material for prevention of the complication of the implants, if a new bone formation at the gratted periosteum wrapping the silicone rubber implants develops. To confirm the possibility, biological test with dogs was initiated. Six samples of periosteum and fascia wrapping the silicone rubber implants, respectively were collected from 9dogs at 8, 16 and 24 weeks. Grossly, difference between translucent periosteum and whitish fascia was noticeable at 8 weeks after implantation. However, it is difficult to distinguish between fascia and periosteum at 24 weeks. Histologically, fibrous capsule developed at 8 weeks and there was a marked thickening at 24 weeks on both periosteum and fascia. At one of 6 samples of 24 weeks periosteum, wrapping the silicone rubber implant, formed a new bone. In conclusion it is possible for the grafted periosteum wrapping the silicone rubber implants to make a new bone. Therefore the periosteum and fascia wrapping the silicone rubber are well taken at the recipient site. Also, they play a good role of barrier against exposure of implant. Especially the periosteum is better than the fascia, because of its bony formation and easier obtaining

Early repolarization is a common electrocardiographic (ECG) feature found in young adults, men and athletes, and has been considered to be a benign feature for the last several decades. But recent studies suggest that early repolarization may be related to idiopathic ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac death. We report a young man, 35 years old, who had life threatening ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac arrest. He was evaluated for cardiac causes of ventricular fibrillation. There was no explanation other than that his ECG showed an early repolarization pattern so we treated him with implantable cardioverter defibrillator. Thus, we suggest that early repolarization may be related with life threatening ventricular arrhythmia.
An Early-Maturing, High-quality and High-yielding Rice Variety "Oraebyeo"

"Oraebyeo" is mutation of a high quality japonica cultivar, Ilpumbyeoa new japonica rice(Oriza sativa L.) cultivar developed from by N-methyl-N-nitrosourea(MNU) treatment on fertilized egg cell by the rice breeding team of Gangwon Provincial Agricultural Res. & Ext. Service in 2006. This variety heads 20 days earlier than Ilpumbyeo and similar to that of Odaebyeo an early maturing leading cultivar of northern plain area of Korea. Compared with Odaebyeo has a good semi-erect plant type with lodging tolerance due to much shortened plant hight(l2cm shorter than Odaebyeo). Oraebyeo has similar panicle number with Odaebye where as it has more spikelets per panicle. However, this variety less the ratio of ripened grains and 1,000 grain weight than those of Odaebyeo. The yield performance of this cultivar in milled rice was about 5.09MT/ha in local adaptability test conducted for three years 2002-2004 and 5.51MT/ha in the demonstration plot of farmer's field.
A 90-Day Repeated Oral Dose Toxicity Study of Alismatis Rhizoma Aqueous Extract in Rats

Alismatis rhizoma (AR), the dried rhizome of Alisma orientale (Sam.) Juzep, is a well-known, traditional medicine that is used for the various biological activities including as a diuretic, to lower cholesterol and as an anti-inflammatory agent. The present study was carried out to investigate the potential toxicity of the Alismatis rhizoma aqueous extract (ARAE) following 90-day repeated oral administration to Sprague-Dawley rats. ARAE was administered orally to male and female rats for 90 days at 0 (control), 500, 1,000 and 2,000 mg/kg/day (n = 10 for male and female rats for each dose). Additional recovery groups from the control group and high dose group were observed for a 28-day recovery period. Chromatograms of ARAE detected main compounds with four peaks. Treatment-related effects including an increase in the red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, albumin, total protein, and urine volume were observed in males of the 2,000 mg/kg/day group (p < 0.05). However, the diuretic effect of ARAE was considered, a major cause of hematological and serum biochemical changes. The oral no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) of the ARAE was > 2,000 mg/kg/day in both genders, and no target organs were identified.
