      • A 1.83 GHz 28.5 dBm CMOS Power Up-Mixer

        <P>A power up-mixer is proposed in this letter. A merged CMOS linear power amplifier (PA) and mixer allows low current consumption and smaller chip size than a conventional integrated transmitter including a mixer and a CMOS linear PA. The chip is fabricated in a 0.18 mum CMOS process and in an integrated-passive-device. Measurements show a drain efficiency of 27% at 27.2 dBm of 1 dB compression point (P1dB) output power from 1.75 to 1.95 GHz. Power conversion gain is 26.4 dB and LO leakage is -43 dBc.</P>

      • A 29 dBm 70.7% PAE Injection-Locked CMOS Power Amplifier for PWM Digitized Polar Transmitter

        <P>This letter presents an injection-locked CMOS power amplifier for pulse width modulation (PWM) digitized polar transmitter. A power oscillator combined with injection-locking technique reduces the required driving power and provide high drain efficiency in the power stage. The switched power oscillator is proposed for PWM digitized polar transmitter. To achieve differential to single output and impedance transformation, a lumped element balun, employing a minimum number of discrete components, is used. The power amplifier achieved a power-added efficiency of 70.7% at a maximum output power of 29.05 dBm. The measured drain efficiency in the power stage was 72.7% at 820 MHz. The chip is implemented with a 0.18 μm CMOS process. The total chip size is 0.48 mm<SUP>2</SUP>.</P>

        Evaluation of Barley and Wheat Germplasm for Resistance to Head Blight and Mycotoxin Production by Fusarium asiaticum and F. graminearum

        Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most serious diseases in barley and wheat, as it is usually accompanied by the production of harmful mycotoxins in the grains. To identify FHB-resistant breeding resources, we evaluated 60 elite germplasm accessions of barley (24) and wheat (36) for FHB and mycotoxin accumulation. Assessments were performed in a greenhouse and five heads per accession were inoculated with both Fusarium asiaticum (Fa73, nivalenol producer) and F. graminearum (Fg39, deoxynivalenol producer) strains. While the accessions varied in disease severity and mycotoxin production, four wheat and one barley showed <20% FHB severity repeatedly by both strains. Mycotoxin levels in these accessions ranged up to 3.9 mg/ kg. FHB severity was generally higher in barley than in wheat, and Fa73 was more aggressive in both crops than Fg39. Fg39 itself, however, was more aggressive toward wheat and produced more mycotoxin in wheat than in barley. FHB severity by Fa73 and Fg39 were moderately correlated in both crops (r = 0.57/0.60 in barley and 0.42/0.58 in wheat). FHB severity and toxin production were also correlated in both crops, with a stronger correlation for Fa73 (r = 0.42/0.82 in barley, 0.70 in wheat) than for Fg39.

        일반적으로 '축구 게임'이라 하면 키보드나 스틱패드를 이용하는 조작용 게임이라 생각하는 경우가 많다. 예를 들어 'FIFA 시리즈'나 'Winning 시리즈'등은 전 세계적으로 많은 사랑을 받으며 성장해 온 PC, 콘솔 기반의 게임들이다. PC환경에서의 게임보다는 모바일에서 진행되는 게임이 그래픽으로나 개발 범위로나 뒤떨어지는 것은 사실이지만 휴대폰의 기능이 점점 확장됨에 따라서 이러한 휴대폰 환경에서 수행될 수 있는 게임도 점차 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 전체적인 게임 시장에서 PC나 콘솔 기반의 게임들을 모바일 게임화 시켜 상용화 하는 비율이 점점 높아지고 있고, 스포츠 게임들 또한 간과할 수 없을 정도로 증가추세에 있다[1][2]. 이러한 게임 중에서 선수들의 경기에 전반적으로 참여하고 선수 관리와 선수트레이드를 통한 전체적인 팀 관리 개념의 스포츠 경영 시뮬레이션 분야는 PC나 콘솔 기반의 게임으로서는 몇 가지 있지만, 모바일 환경에서는 아직 국내에서는 없는 것으로 판단되며, 외국에서도 이제 서비스가 시작되기 시작한 것으로 판단된다(2007.11.20 발표된 '리얼 사커 매니저 2007' 이라는 게임이 유일[3]). 본 논문에서는 국내의 프로축구 리그인 'K-리그'를 대상으로 구단 경영 시뮬레이션 게임인"K-리그 매니저 모바일"을 모바일 환경에서 구현해 보고, 구현된 구단 경영 시뮬레이션 게임의 가능성을 살펴보고자 한다.

        본 논문에서는 내부에 여러 개의 노드를 가진 네트워크가 이동 단위가 되어 인터넷 접속 지점을 변경하여도 내부의 단말 들에 대해서 연결성을 보장해주는 네트워크 이동성 기술을 구현한 결과를 기술한다. 네트워크 이동성 지원을 위해 IETF 에서 표준화가 진행 중인 NEMO Basic Support Protocol에 따른 이동 라우 터와 홈 에이전트를 구현하고 테스트하였다. 본 논문의 결과는 버스나 자동차 등 내부에 여러 개의 노드를 가진 네트워크가 이동하는 경우가 증가할 것으로 예상되는 미래에 널리 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

        Occurrence of Toxigenic Fusarium vorosii among Small Grain Cereals in Korea

        Fusarium graminearum species complex (FGSC) causes Fusarium head blight in small grain cereals. To date, four species (F. graminearum, F. asiaticum, F. boothii, and F. meridionale ) belonging to FGSC frequently occur in Korean cereals. In addition, we first reported the occurrence of additional species (F. vorosii ) within FGSC, which was isolated from barley, corn, and rice in Korea. Phylogenetic analysis of the Fusarium isolates of this group using combined multigene sequences confirmed species identification. Moreover, the macroconidia produced by these isolates were morphologically similar to those of the F. vorosii holotype. Chemical analysis indicated that the F. vorosii isolates produced various trichothecenes such as nivalenol and deoxynivalenol with their acetyl derivatives along with zearalenone. Pathogenicity tests demonstrated that all of the F. vorosii isolates examined were pathogenic on barley, corn, and rice with variation in aggressiveness. This study is the first report of F. vorosii in Korean cereals, their pathogenicity towards barley and corn, and their ability to produce trichothecenes and zearalenone.

        2010-2011년도에 발생한 구제역 살처분 원인에 대한 문화 분석

        Between January 2010 and March 2011, there were three outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in South Korea. Over 3.45 million animals (5,660 farms) were slaughtered, which was 33.3% of the existing pigs, 8.4% of dairy cows and 3.4% of cattle. FMD disaster costs were estimated at around three billion Korean won. Nine civil servants were killed, over 150 people were wounded and 4,788 landfills were confronted with a pollution problem. Vaccination and slaughter are the two basic alternatives for eradication of FMD. Altho ugh slaughter is more violent, risky and expensive than vaccination, the Korean government had chosen only slaughter eradication by the end of 2010. Even though over three million animals were killed, FMD spread out over most of the country. Finally, the government chose to begin vaccination. Following vaccination, outbreaks decreased dramatically. The purpose of this report is a cultural analysis of the related decision-making process, laws and systems. For the culture analysis, we utilize interviews, symposiums, laws, FMD manual, government reports and press releases. In conclusion, we found that the FMD massacre was influenced by cultural and organizational factors. The cultural factors were economism, cheapening of the value of life, biased perceptions and fears. The organizational factors were a closed process of decision-making, monopoly system, a small homogeneous group and group-think. Therefore, more studies will be needed for those factors of FMD disasters in national-scale cases.

        The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between father absence and children's sex-role stereotypes. The subjects of this study were 36 father absent children and 40 father present boys and girls totaling 76 children. They were 13 years of age. The instrument used for this study was a questionnaire based on The Bem Sex-role Inventory. The data of the present study were analyzed by the statistical method of t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the two groups on some items: 1) on the boys' masculinity scale, father present boys had higher scores that father absent boys on “sincere” and “faithful”; 2) on the boys' feminity scale, father present boys had higher scores than father absent boys on “help a person” but father absent boys had higher scores than father present boys on “compel”; 3) on the girl's masculinity scale, father present girls had higher scores than father absent girls on “help a person” but father absent girls had higher scores than father present girls on “happy” and “talk softly”; 4) on the girls, feminity scale, father present girls had higher scores than father absent girls on “concede”, “friendly”, “sensitive”, and “gentle”. The results were discussed in terms of proverty, the lack of sex-role model caused by father absence, and mother's change in child rearing attitude.

        Korean Society of Nephrology 2022 Recommendations on Controversial Issues in Diagnosis and Management of Hyponatremia

        The Korean Society for Electrolyte and Blood Pressure Research, in collaboration with the Korean Society of Nephrology, has published a clinical practice guideline (CPG) document for hyponatremia treatment. The document is based on an extensive evidence-based review of the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of hyponatremia with the multidisciplinary participation of representative experts in hyponatremia with methodologist support for guideline development. This CPG consists of 12 recommendations (two for diagnosis, eight for treatment, and two for special situations) based on eight detailed topics and nine key questions. Each recommendation begins with statements graded by the strength of the recommendations and the quality of the evidence. Each statement is followed by rationale supporting the recommendations. The committee issued conditional recommendations in favor of rapid intermittent bolus administration of hypertonic saline in severe hyponatremia, the use of vasopressin receptor antagonists in heart failure with hypervolemic hyponatremia, and syndrome of inappropriate antidiuresis with moderate to severe hyponatremia, the individualization of desmopressin use, and strong recommendation on the administration of isotonic fluids as maintenance fluid therapy in hospitalized pediatric patients. We hope that this CPG will provide useful recommendations in practice, with the aim of providing clinical support for shared decision-making to improve patient outcomes.
