<P>This paper investigates the feasibility of quality function deployment, technique for the order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (QFD-TOPSIS) in presenting user preferences for multiple alternatives, such as construction technologies, products, systems, and design solutions, with trade-off technical characteristics (TC). The original QFD as house of quality (HOQ) defines the requirements and features as subjective matrix relations, which cause interpretations to vary across users and limit its industrial applications. QFD-TOPSIS is a new model that combines the benefits of QFD with those of TOPSIS, maintains the subjectivity and objectivity evaluation of the technical characteristics (TC), and rates the preferences by considering users’ individual propensity for requirements. In addition, QFD-TOPSIS rates the preferences through the reciprocal compensation effects of trade-off TC and filters unsuitable alternatives with predefined restrictive conditions. Trade-off refers to conflicts and/or contradictions between attributes, often arising in multicriteria decision-making. Users or project stakeholder groups define the priorities of trade-off TC that directly influence product preferences and decision-making. In the present study, we have developed a Web system based on the QFD-TOPSIS logic and tested its operation to verify its industrial applicability and viability for automatic quality evaluation.</P>
Decision Making Method based on Function and Performance Matrix Assessment Considering Design Change
Youngsuk Oh,Jaeyoul Chun,Jaeho Cho 대한건축학회 2015 Architectural research Vol.17 No.3
A comprehensive understanding of functions and performances enables a selection of appropriate alternatives to the existing design and can prevent defective design. A performance-based design quality management can ensure successful project completion. This study proposes a new model for design quality management in order to prevent defective design and to minimize design change. The new quality management model defines the requirement about function and performance based on technical characteristic, and assesses suitability for design alternatives. This study attempts to propose a quality matrix assessment method that can compare the alternative design and requirements defined with the new quality management model. This method can judge conformity and suitability of design quality in accordance with the requirements configured.
Purification and Characterization of Protein methylase Ⅱ from Porcine Spleen
Sungsoo Kim,Jaeyoul Cho,Hyang Woo Lee,Sungyoul Hong 생화학분자생물학회 1994 BMB Reports Vol.27 No.3
Protein methylase II (S-adenosyl-L-methionine : protein O-methyltrnnsferase, EC 2.1.1.24) was purified 692 fold with yield of 8.9% from porcine spleen by subcellular fractionation, pH treatment, ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration and HPLC. The purified enzyme gave a single band upon SDS-polyacrylamide get electrophoresis. The molecular weight of purified protein methylase II was 40,700 daltons and the pl value was 7.4. The most effective substrates for porcine spleen protein methylase II were myelin basic protein, followed by hemoglobin, histone, γ-globulin, gelatin, cytochrome c, and serum albumin.

Vol.38 No.2
Functional, structural, design, economic and defect factors must be comprehensively considered in tandem with objective evaluation criteria when deciding upon exterior building materials. If end-users or engineers are not knowledgeable about durability and defect factors of exterior building materials, then there is a high probability of making an inappropriate selection; they should clarify the various requirements for cladding and then implement the proper performance evaluation. In this study, a QFD-TOPSIS model is proposed for end-users and professionals to collectively participate and apply during the decision-making process of selecting exterior building materials. The multi-criteria decision-making model used by project participants enabled the most appropriate choice in actual examples of exterior material selection provided in this study. The case study comparing the QFD-TOPSIS method from multiple experts, end-users, and manufacturers and the VE method by one expert confirmed that the QFD-TOPSIS method required more empirical evidence and detailed evaluation of select exterior building materials.
Vol.18 No.5
The efficient communication process is essential to guarantee the completeness of design and secure the quality to meet the contractor's needs. However, using the existing communication methods based on the design and documents, it is difficult to effectively understand the drawings and specifications that are very complicated, and sufficient technical experiences would be required. Ineffective and inefficient communication among users, designers and project participants during the design process would raise the possibility of functional interferences of the object, induce conflicts, cause a design change, and accordingly incur losses of the project in terms of cost and time. The purpose of this study is to suggest improvement direction of communication in accordance with the requirements, by investigating the present state and the project participants' understanding of design communication. And also, it presents the application model of QFD that the project participants could share and define, and feedback the requirements as well as conducting analysis of improvement factors based on the survey.
