조서연,정명진,한유림,장재우,Cho, Seoyeon,Jeong, Myeongjin,Han, Yurim,Chang, Jaewoo 국제문화기술진흥원 2022 The Journal of the Convergence on Culture Technolo Vol.8 No.6

A survey was conducted on safety and health managers to analyze what change have occurred in the safety health management system of companies since the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. As a result, it was confirmed that most of the safety and health budgets increased, and most of the safety and health organization operations and safety and health tasks were strengthened. However, further research is needed to see if this has a practical effect on worker safety and reduction of serious accidents, and realistic measures are needed to allow safety and health managers to focus on practical helpful tasks rather than formal ones. In addition, it was confirmed that active support from business owners or management managers and strengthening education on the Serious Accidents Punishment Act were needed through cross-analysis between the education of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and positive change in safety and health.

      • 아이코닉 이미지를 위한 새로운 공간 매치 검색 기법

        장기진(Kijin Chang),장재우(Jaewoo Chang) 한국정보과학회 1995 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.22 No.2A

      • Rostral Agranular Insular Cortex Lesion with Motor Cortex Stimulation Enhances Pain Modulation Effect on Neuropathic Pain Model

        Jung, Hyun Ho,Shin, Jaewoo,Kim, Jinhyung,Ahn, Seung-Hee,Lee, Sung Eun,Koh, Chin Su,Cho, Jae Sung,Kong, Chanho,Shin, Hyung-Cheul,Kim, Sung June,Chang, Jin Woo Hindawi Publishing Corporation 2016 Neural plasticity Vol.2016 No.-

It is well known that the insular cortex is involved in the processing of painful input. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pain modulation role of the insular cortex during motor cortex stimulation (MCS). After inducing neuropathic pain (NP) rat models by the spared nerve injury method, we made a lesion on the rostral agranular insular cortex (RAIC) unilaterally and compared behaviorally determined pain threshold and latency in 2 groups: Group A (NP + MCS; n = 7) and Group B (NP + RAIC lesion + MCS; n = 7). Also, we simultaneously recorded neuronal activity (NP; n = 9) in the thalamus of the ventral posterolateral nucleus and RAIC to evaluate electrophysiological changes from MCS. The pain threshold and tolerance latency increased in Group A with “MCS on” and in Group B with or without “MCS on.” Moreover, its increase in Group B with “MCS on” was more than that of Group B without MCS or of Group A, suggesting that MCS and RAIC lesioning are involved in pain modulation. Compared with the “MCS off” condition, the “MCS on” induced significant threshold changes in an electrophysiological study. Our data suggest that the RAIC has its own pain modulation effect, which is influenced by MCS.

      • Real-Time Analysis of Cellular Response to Small-Molecule Drugs within a Microfluidic Dielectrophoresis Device

        Park, In Soo,Lee, Jaewoo,Lee, Gyudo,Nam, Kihwan,Lee, Taewoo,Chang, Woo-Jin,Kim, Hansung,Lee, Sei-Young,Seo, Jongbum,Yoon, Dae Sung,Lee, Sang Woo American Chemical Society 2015 ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY - Vol.87 No.12

Quantitative detection of the biological properties of living cells is essential for a wide range of purposes, from the understanding of cellular characteristics to the development of novel drugs in nanomedicine. Here, we demonstrate that analysis of cell biological properties within a microfluidic dielectrophoresis device enables quantitative detection of cellular biological properties and simultaneously allows large-scale measurement in a noise-robust and probeless manner. Applying this technique, the static and dynamic biological responses of live B16F10 melanoma cells to the small-molecule drugs such as N-ethylmaleimide (NEM) and [(dihydronindenyl)oxy]alkanoic acid (DIOA) were quantitatively and statistically examined by investigating changes in movement of the cells. Measurement was achieved using subtle variations in dielectrophoresis (DEP) properties of the cells, which were attributed to activation or deactivation of K+/Cl– cotransporter channels on the cell membrane by the small-molecule drugs, in a microfluidic device. On the basis of quantitative analysis data, we also provide the first report of the shift of the complex permittivity of a cell induced by the small-molecule drugs. In addition, we demonstrate interesting quantifiable parameters including the drug effectiveness coefficient, antagonistic interaction coefficient, kinetic rate, and full width at half-maximum, which corresponded to changes in biological properties of B16F10 cells over time when NEM and DIOA were introduced alone or in combination. Those demonstrated parameters represent very useful tools for evaluating the effect of small-molecule drugs on the biological properties of cells.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

The Neuromodulation of Neuropathic Pain by Measuring Pain Response Rate and Pain Response Duration in Animal

Kim, Jinhyung,Lee, Sung Eun,Shin, Jaewoo,Jung, Hyun Ho,Kim, Sung June,Chang, Jin Woo The Korean Neurosurgical Society 2015 Journal of Korean neurosurgical society Vol.57 No.1

Objective : Neuropathic pain causes patients feel indescribable pain. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is one of the treatment methods in neuropathic pain but the action mechanism is still unclear. To study the effect and mechanism of analgesic effects from DBS in neuropathic pain and to enhance the analgesic effect of DBS, we stimulated the ventral posterolateral nucleus (VPL) in rats. Methods : To observe the effect from VPL stimulation, we established 3 groups : normal group (Normal group), neuropathic pain group (Pain group) and neuropathic pain+DBS group (DBS group). Rats in DBS group subjected to electrical stimulation and the target is VPL. Results : We observed the behavioral changes by DBS in VPL (VPL-DBS) on neuropathic pain rats. In our study, the pain score which is by conventional test method was effectively decreased. In specific, the time of showing withdrawal response from painful stimulation which is not used measuring method in our animal model was also decreased by DBS. Conclusion : The VPL is an effective target on pain modulation. Specifically we could demonstrate changes of pain response duration which is not used, and it was also significantly meaningful. We thought that this study would be helpful in understanding the relation between VPL-DBS and neuropathic pain.

Mitigation of Membrane Biofouling in MBR Using a Cellulolytic Bacterium, Undibacterium sp. DM-1, Isolated from Activated Sludge

        ( Chang Hyun Nahm ),( Seonki Lee ),( Sang Hyun Lee ),( Kibaek Lee ),( Jaewoo Lee ),( Hyeokpil Kwon ),( Kwang-ho Choo ),( Jung-kee Lee ),( Jae Young Jang ),( Chung-hak Lee ),( Pyung-kyu Park ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2017 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.27 No.3

Biofilm formation on the membrane surface results in the loss of permeability in membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for wastewater treatment. Studies have revealed that cellulose is not only produced by a number of bacterial species but also plays a key role during formation of their biofilm. Hence, in this study, cellulase was introduced to a MBR as a cellulose-induced biofilm control strategy. For practical application of cellulase to MBR, a cellulolytic (i.e., cellulaseproducing) bacterium, Undibacterium sp. DM-1, was isolated from a lab-scale MBR for wastewater treatment. Prior to its application to MBR, it was confirmed that the cell-free supernatant of DM-1 was capable of inhibiting biofilm formation and of detaching the mature biofilm of activated sludge and cellulose-producing bacteria. This suggested that cellulase could be an effective anti-biofouling agent for MBRs used in wastewater treatment. Undibacterium sp. DM-1-entrapping beads (i.e., cellulolytic-beads) were applied to a continuous MBR to mitigate membrane biofouling 2.2-fold, compared with an MBR with vacant-beads as a control. Subsequent analysis of the cellulose content in the biofilm formed on the membrane surface revealed that this mitigation was associated with an approximately 30% reduction in cellulose by cellulolytic-beads in MBR.

DeepPIM: A deep neural point-of-interest imputation model

        Chang, Buru,Park, Yonggyu,Kim, Seongsoon,Kang, Jaewoo Elsevier science 2018 Information sciences Vol.465 No.-

Abstract

A point-of-interest (POI) is a specific location in which someone is interested. In social network services such as Instagram, users share their experiences with text and photos, and link POIs to their posts. POIs can be utilized to understand user preferences and behavior. However, not all posts have POI information. In our study, we found more than half of the posts do not have POI information. The current state-of-the-art POI imputation model adds missing POI information. However, it relies on a conventional machine learning method that requires a substantial amount of laborious feature engineering. To address this problem, we propose DeepPIM, a deep neural POI imputation model that does not require feature engineering. DeepPIM automatically generates textual, visual, user, and temporal features from text, photo, user, and posting time information, respectively. For evaluating DeepPIM, we construct a new large-scale POI dataset. We show that DeepPIM significantly outperforms the current state-of-the-art model on the dataset. Our newly created large-scale POI dataset and the source code of DeepPIM are available at http://github.com/qnfnwkd/DeepPIM.
