Rheological Properties of Coating Colors Containing Biobased Latex

        Jae Y. Shin,Do Ik Lee,Paul D. Fleming,Margaret K. Joyce,Steven Bloembergen 한국펄프·종이공학회 2016 펄프.종이技術 Vol.48 No.6

This paper focuses on the understanding of basic properties of water-swollen crosslinked starch nanoparticles as a function of crosslink density. The extent of their water swelling is decreased with increasing particle crosslink density and solid concentration and vice versa. This study elucidates the unique rheological properties of starch nanoparticle dispersions and paper coating formulations in comparison with water-soluble cooked starch and synthetic latex counterparts. These rheological studies extend over many decades of shear rates, using several different rheometers. Low shear viscosities were obtained using a Cannon-Fenske viscometer and a TA AR-2000 stress rheometer with double concentric cylinder geometry. Intermediate shear rate rheology was evaluated with a Hercules rheometer. High shear rates were studied with ACAV A2 ultra-high shear capillary and slit rheometers. Unlike conventional cooked and soluble starch solutions, starch nanoparticle latex dispersions are colloids that consist of internally crosslinked particles. With increasing intra-particle crosslink density these biobased colloids have been found to behave much like petroleum based synthetic latex colloids. However, at ultra-high shear their rheological properties are relatively more shear thinning compared to hard particles, including synthetic latex and pigment particles, which exhibit shear-thickening and dilatancy. The implications of the rheological data on high-speed coater runnability are discussed.

      • 등온 사각빔에서 혼합대류 열전달

        이재신,박언세,권순석 동아대학교 공과대학 부설 한국자원개발연구소 1993 硏究報告 Vol.17 No.2

Mixed convection heat transfer is investigated by numerical solution of Navier-Stokes and energy equations for and isothermal rectangular beam. The solutions have been obtained for aspect ratios of beam, W=0.3~3, Reynolds numbers, Re=50~150 and Grashof numbers, Gr=0~5×10⁴. The results indicate that as Re increases, the mean back surface Nusselt number decreases to Re=120 for W=0.3 and Re=95 for W=1, 3 and then increases. Independent of aspect ratios of the beam, the mean beam Nusselt number at Gr=10⁴ shows similar value in the region of mixed convection. The mean beam Nusselt number distribution for W=0.3 shows the highest value at Gr/Re²≤1.0 and that for W=3 at Gr/Re²〉1.0. Comparison between the experimental and numerical results shows good agreement.

      • Hawthorne작품에 나타난 죄의식과 역사에 대한 연구

김재신 건국대학교 1991 대학원 학술논문집 Vol.33 No.-

Hawthorne's use of historical material and his interest in the past have long been recognized as characteristics of his fiction. It was Puritan New England which provided Hawthorne a meaningful vehicle in which his ideas could be given form. Hawthorne moves between his historical world and another world dreamed history. It is in this light that many have come to label him an Puritan allegorist: one who symbolically portrays certain truths or generlizations about human conduct. However, Hawthrone was not an allegorist in the traditional sense. Hawthorne was too skeptical, too unsure because he tended to take the spiritual problems of his Puritan forebears more seriously than any of the other prominent writers of his time. Hawthorne's use of the past is often related to his treatment of sin and guilt. His fiction, such as The Scarlet Letter, The House of the Seven Gables, and The Blithedale Romance, often implies that we must accept the past and the guilt it entails. When Hawthorne shows concern with the necessity of man's acceptance of his past, he expresses his own conviction that man must accept his sinful state and its consequences. It is misconception to suppose that Hawthorne felt any piety or honor toward his Puritan ancestors. Much of his ficition emphasizes the resentment he nurtured against his ancestors, and he often uses a resentful tone when writing about them. It is Crews' feelling, though, that Hawthorne took license to exaggerate the cruelty, fearsomeness, and guilt of historical persons, and to treat history more as a nightmare. He suggests that this must be connected to his oppressive sense of his own ancestry. Although Hawthorne never exercises any amount of congratulatory pride in the deeds of his Puritan ancestors, there is a strong and undeniable force from his past which repeatedly allows the Puritan influence to find its way into his fiction. Moreover, he trys to demonstrate the organic system of the past, present, and future in his romances which are expressive of profound, transcendent or idealistic truths.

        신재신,전소라 韓國學校保健學會 2002 韓國學校保健學會誌 Vol.15 No.2

This study was conducted to suggest a necessity in student health promotion device by comparing the health status and identifying the environmental health influence of the elementary students in Busan. Five schools were selected as sample group based on the number of air pollutant emitting facilities and whole 6th grade 825 students(391 from industrial area and 434 from residential area) were selected from these elementary school. The data were collected from convenient sample based on written questionnaires from 1st to 30th, Nov, 2001. The student group who lives in an industrial area experiences more the symptoms of the eyes(p=.033) and a cold(p=.000)(p=.015), more frequent indirect smoking condition(p=.023, p=.001), and think ill of the relation about air pollution and health(p=.002), cognition of the surroundings(p=.001), and think ill of the relation about air pollution and health(p=.002), cognition of the surroundings(p=.000), and perception of subjective health status(p=.000). There were not significant differences in the number of student in asthma score by their residents, but there were significant differences at the dwelling term of the students in asthma score(p=.002). According to the above results, there must be a device of preventive treatment and early diagnosis of disease needed for the student in industrial areas because they are in relatively poor health and social economic status than residential areas.

      • 사람 귀의 음향 응답 특성에 관한 연구

        이재신 관동대학교 의과학연구소 2000 關東醫大學術誌 Vol.4 No.1

The acoustical properties of simultated human ear has been investigated with a probe microphone and a signal analyzer system. The spectral responses over the frequency range of human hearing has been obtained in some varied conditions. The irregular spectral patterns show that the outer ear canal should be treated as an acoustical cavity with characteristic spectral response.

This study researches an obesity inde( and the reaiities of physical activity of etementary school childrnl and pvide basic data to instruct correct physical activity for low weight md obese childraL The subject was 813 Elementary School Chiliherl of grade 4-6 in Krimgiu and data were collected with a Physical Activir Questionnaire from fTs, USA The collected data ware an3ly2ed with real number, pnfentagf avErge and standard deviation techniques. The rarlge was by SPSS WIN. Both of them were in the normal range, between -38.3 and 77.7, between low weight and obesity The results are as follows : 1. An Obesity index according to grade and sex: the average obesity index of 423 boys was 7.56 ± 15.7, for girls it was 2.56± 14.3. Both of them were in the nrnmal range, between -38.3 and 77.7. There were low weight(-38.85±0.9) students as well as obese, including extremely low weight children (-38.85 ±0.9) and extremely obese children. 2. On the whole, in the Freouency of the 25 item physical activities breakdown, children reported to watch TV 1.(2.7±0.6), or do homework(2.1 ±0.9), more than three-fourths of the week, male children, however, played more football(2.0 ±0.9). As male obese children do less MET5, MET8(highly active activity) than male normal children, it was also discovered that low weight children do mnre severe activity in MET8(high activity). In female cases, it was revealed that neither do highly intense activity. 3. In physical activitiy, male children received higher points than fonale children with 92.94±37.95 to 74.46 ±29.50. On the whole, male and female obese children had lower score than normal children. 4. As for attitude toward physical activiv, male children(31.9614.37) had a positive attitude than female children (29.57 ±3.89), but obese male children had a negative attitude regarding activity viewed as normal. ThaefgrE in peventing obesity in elementary school childrerl the treating of under-weight childrern. should be included in the obesity Fgram so as to Pevent mal-nutrition or denciency. It is needed to instruct obese childrul to carry out interlsive w[rk-outs at least 3 times a weft through systematic grams. It is also needed that parents and teachers educate elementary school chil(hell from an early age with iDcimation on the frequency and interlsity of work-outs to prevent obesity. It is also desirable that children be eddcated to cauy out physical activities that address thetr specific needs. As a result of this study, obesif management must be started from elementary school and children should be instructed to act in hiRh-interlsity actirities when they spend leisure time.
