Expression of Human Endogenous Retrovirus <i>env</i> Genes in the Blood of Breast Cancer Patients

<P>Human endogenous retroviruses (HERV) <I>env</I> proteins have been recently reported to be significantly up-regulated in certain cancers. Specifically, mRNA and protein levels of HERV-K (HML-2) are up-regulated in the blood plasma or serum of breast cancer patients. Here, we collected blood samples of 49 breast cancer patients and analyzed mRNA expressions of various HERVs <I>env</I> genes including HERV-R, HERV-H, HERV-K, and HERV-P by real-time PCR. The expression of <I>env</I> genes were significantly increased in the blood of primary breast cancer patients but were decreased in patients undergoing chemotherapy to a similar level with benign patients. When we compared the group currently undergoing chemotherapy and those patients undergoing chemotherapy simultaneously with radiotherapy, HERVs <I>env</I> genes were reduced more in the chemotherapy only group, suggesting that chemotherapy is more effective in reducing HERV <I>env</I> gene expression than is radiotherapy. Among chemotherapy groups, HERV <I>env</I> gene expression was the lowest in the taxotere- or taxol-treated group, suggesting that taxotere and taxol can reduce HERVs <I>env</I> expression. These data suggest the potential to use HERVs <I>env</I> genes as a diagnosis marker for primary breast cancer, and further studies are needed to identify the mechanism and physiological significance of the reduction of HERV <I>env</I> gene expression during chemotherapy.</P>

The object of this study is to develope the program for analyzing the fluid flow and heat transfer of PMSM electric motor. The program will be mainly used for inexperienced users of CFD analysis. So it has to be performed using the geometry data and the heat source of each part only. Interface program for converting the given data to the instruction of pre-processor is developed. The conjugate heat transfer between a flow passage of the motor and inner parts consisting of rotor and stator is regarded. In order to reduce the computational time and memory storage, cyclic boundary condition is applied. For the numerical simulation, MRF(Multi-Reference Frame) method is used to consider rotating operation of the rotor and heat source is applied to the copper, wire, and magnetic parts in the motor. On the screen of computer, the users can show the velocity distributions and the contours such as pressure, turbulent kinetic energy, turbulent dissipation rate and temperature.

Background: Recently, the pulse-in-pulse mode of intense pulsed light (IPL) has been used increasingly for the treatment of melasma. Objective: To observe the morphologic changes in the melanophore in adult zebrafish after irradiation with conventional and pulse-in-pulse IPL and Q-switched Nd:YAG (QSNY) laser. Methods: Adult zebrafish were irradiated with conventional and pulse-in-pulse mode of IPL. The conditions for conventional IPL were 3 mJ/cm<sup>2</sup>, 560 nm filter, and pulse widths of 7, 20, and 35 msec. The pulse-in-pulse conditions were 3 mJ/cm<sup>2</sup> and on-time 1/off-time 2. The QSNY laser was used with the settings of 1,064 nm, 0.4 J/cm<sup>2</sup>, a 7 mm spot size, and one shot. Specimens were observed using a light microscope, a transmission electron microscope (TEM), a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a confocal micro-scope. Results: After conventional IPL irradiation with a 7 msec pulse width, melanophore breakage was observed us-ing light microscopy. Under TEM, irradiation with conven-tional IPL for 7 msec and pulse-in-pulse IPL induced melano-phore thermolysis with vacuolization. However, changes in the melanophore were not observed with 35 msec IPL. Under SEM, unlike the control and QSNY groups, IPL-irradi-ated zebrafish showed finger-like fusion in the protein struc- ture of scales. Specimens examined by a confocal micro-scope after conventional IPL irradiation showed a larger green-stained area on TUNEL staining than that after pulse-in-pulse mode IPL irradiation. Conclusion: Zebrafish irradiated with long pulse-IPL showed no morphologic changes using light microscopy, while morphological changes in melanophores were evident with use of TEM. Pulse-in-pulse mode IPL caused less damage than conven-tional IPL. (Ann Dermatol 28(6) 711∼717, 2016)

The present study has been performed for analyzing the fluid flow and heat transfer of PMSM electric motor with considering shape design variables. In order to analyze the flow and heat transfer, the developed CFD program has been used. It had been developed for inexperienced motor designer of CFD analysis. So mesh can be easily generated from the shape design variables only. The conjugate heat transfer between a flow passage of the motor and inner parts consisting of rotor and stator has been regarded and cyclic boundary condition has been applied to reduce the computational time and memory storage. MRF(Multi-Reference Frame) method has been used to consider rotating operation of the rotor and heat source has been applied to the coil and stator parts in the motor. For considering the turbulence effects, the Standard k-ε turbulence model is used. The numerical simulation results show a good agreement with the commercial program. The parametric studies such as the speed of rotor, shape design variables, and material properties, had been carried out for the analysis of thermal characteristics of PMSM motor.

최근에 다품종 소량 생산 구조를 가지는 지능형 서비스 로봇 시스템 개발을 위해서 로봇 핵심 부품의 모듈화를 통한 개발 용이성확보와 개발기간 단축 및 핵심 부품의 고 신뢰성 확보를 통한 저가격화의 기술수요가 가속화되고 있다. 또 로봇용 다자유도 구현 메커니즘 기술은 서보모터와 독립형 구동드라이버의 형태로 대변되는 1세대 구동부품으로부터 현재는 서보모터, 감속모듈 및 구동모듈 일체형의 지능형 정밀모터 단축구동모듈을 이용한 메커니즘 단계의 기술개발이 이뤄지고 있는 추세이다. 로봇용 액추에이터의 경우, 로봇기능 및 성능을 좌우 할 수 있는 지표수단이 될 만큼 그 역할의 중요성이 가중되고 있으며, 로봇의 기능 확대 및 정밀도 증가에 따라, 다기능 모듈을 탑재한 지능형 액추에이터의 개발수요가 높아지고 있다. 이번 본 논문에서는 로봇 구동을 위한 모토 및 감속기 개발에 관한 것으로, 설계, 해석, 성능평가내용이 담겨져 있다.
