Robust Fixture Layout Design for a Product Family Assembled in a Multistage Reconfigurable Line
Izquierdo, L. Eduardo,Hu, S. Jack,Du, Hao,Jin, Ran,Jee, Haeseong,Shi, Jianjun ASME International 2009 Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering Vol.131 No.4

Reconfigurable assembly systems enable a family of products to be assembled in a single system by adjusting and reconfiguring fixtures according to each product. The sharing of fixtures among different products impacts their robustness to fixture variation due to trade offs in fixture design (to allow the accommodation of the family in the single system) and to frequent reconfigurations. This paper proposes a methodology to achieve robustness of the fixture layout design through an optimal distribution of the locators in a multistation assembly system for a product family. This objective is accomplished by (1) the use of a multistation assembly process model for the product family, and (2) minimizing the combined sensitivity of the products to fixture variation. The optimization considers the feasibility of the locator layout by taking into account the constraints imposed by the different products and the processes (assembly sequence, data scheme, and reconfigurable tools’ workspace). A case study where three products are assembled in four stations is presented. The sensitivity of the optimal layout was benchmarked against the ones obtained using dedicated assembly lines for each product. This comparison demonstrates that the proposed approach does not significantly sacrifice robustness while allowing the assembly of all products in a single reconfigurable line.

Unusual and nondescript type of distal clavicular fracture
Alberto Izquierdo Fernandez,Jose Carlos Minarro 대한견주관절의학회 2021 대한견주관절의학회지 Vol.24 No.2
Displaced fracture of the distal third of the clavicle usually occurs after direct trauma to the shoulder and typically results in superior displacement of the proximal fragment. We report a previously undescribed case of downward displacement of the clavicle caused by a fall on an outstretched hand, and we suggest the mechanism of injury.

Polycrystalline samples of Tb1xAlxMnO3 (x ¼ 0, 0.1, 0.2) have been synthesized by means of standard high-temperature solid-state reaction technique. Detailed studies on the effect of compositional variation of aluminum (Al) on the electrical behavior (complex impedance Z*, complex modulus M*, and relaxation mechanisms) of the parent TbMnO3 have been performed by using the nondestructive complex impedance spectroscopy technique at temperatures above room temperature. In the temperature range covered, the impedance plots signalize that the grains are the unique responsible for the conduction mechanism of the concerned material. The impedance spectra are well modeled in terms of electrical equivalent circuit with a grain resistance (Rg) and constant phase element impedance (ZCPE). The conductivity data of the undoped and Al-doped samples are well fitted by the universal Jonscher's power law. The resulting fitting parameters indicate that for the studied samples, the hopping process occurs between neighboring sites. Activation energy values for dc conductivity are calculated for undoped and Al-doped samples and found to decrease when Al is incorporated. In turn, the emergence of single arc in the complex modulus spectrum for all the compositions of Al suggests that for the studied samples only one type of relaxation behavior is present at the selected temperatures. A non-Debye-type relaxation is clearly verified. The relaxation process in the present samples seems to be composition and temperature dependent, particularly at higher frequencies.

Dimensionally stable bituminous foams were prepared by using 4,40-diphenylmethane diisocyanate/polypropylene glycol (MDI–PPG) quasi-prepolymers, with different molecular weights. From the results obtained, it may be concluded that, after foam formation, the rheological properties are remarkably affected, especially at high temperatures. Paradoxically, the greater the molecular weight of MDI–PPG,the lower the values of viscosities at 60 8C, and the linear viscoelasticity functions of the resulting foams. This result seems to be related to the improved ability of small MDI–PPG molecules to interact strongly with polar bitumen compounds, leading to the formation of larger molecular-sized compounds.

J.M. Izquierdo,J. Hortal,M. Sanchez Perea,E. Melendez,C. Queral,J. Rivas-Lewicky 한국원자력학회 2017 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.49 No.2
This paper reviews current status of the unified approach known as integrated safetyassessment (ISA), as well as the associated SCAIS (simulation codes system for ISA) computerplatform. These constitute a proposal, which is the result of collaborative actionamong the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN), University of Madrid (UPM), and NFQ SolutionsS.L, aiming to allow independent regulatory verification of industry quantitative riskassessments. The content elaborates on discussions of the classical treatment of time inconventional probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) sequences and states importantconclusions that can be used to avoid systematic and unacceptable underestimation of thefailure exceedance frequencies. The unified ISA method meets this challenge by couplingdeterministic and probabilistic mutual influences. The feasibility of the approach is illustratedwith some examples of its application to a real size plant.
Paraneoplastic Limbic Encephalitis in a Male with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung
Tamara Sauri,Àngel Izquierdo,LLuis Ramió-Torrentà,Àngel Sanchez-Montañez,Joaquim Bosch-Barrera,Rut Porta 대한신경과학회 2015 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.11 No.1
Background Paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis (PLE) is a rare syndrome characterized bymemory impairment, symptoms of hypothalamic dysfunction, and seizures. It commonly precedes the diagnosis of cancer. Small-cell lung cancer is the neoplasm that is most frequently reported as the etiology underlying PLE. Case Report This report describes a male patient who presented with neurologic symptomsconsistent with anterograde amnesia, apathy, and disorientation. MRI revealed diffuse hyperintensities located predominantly in the medial bitemporal lobes, basal ganglia, frontal lobes, andleptomeninges on fluid attenuated inversion recovery images, suggesting PLE. Study of the primary tumor revealed squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. The patient was treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy, which resulted in hisneurologic symptoms gradually improving. Conclusions PLE might be a rare debut of squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. Treatment ofthe primary tumor may improve the neurologic symptoms.

Daily production of municipal sewage sludge coming from wastewater treatment plants is becoming a global issue and requires efficient material and energy recovery. Limited applications of sewage sludge (SS) as raw material and decreasing amount of land in which SS is traditionally used as a soil conditioner represents a severe environmental problem in our society. The presence of heavy metals in the sludge further limits its suitability for usage as fertilizers. In the context of a circular economy, incineration with fluidized bed technologies, along with use of by-products such as ash for construction materials, is under investigation in different countries. Incineration of sewage sludge, along with coal, is an optimum way to utilize the organic content of the sludge, maintaining high combustion efficiency with low flue-gas emissions. Moreover, the application of incinerated sewage sludge ash (ISSA) in the cement industry also resolves the problem of SS and ISSA disposal. Pozzolanic properties indicate ISSA's high potential for exploitation as a supplementary cementing material. However, the application of ISSA in the cement manufacturing process requires careful control since the content of the raw material differs remarkably, determined by the method of SS production and incineration technique. In this work, a detailed thermo-chemical analysis of the ISSA produced from fluidized bed combustion of Kazakhstan’s municipal sewage sludge is performed and compared with the ISSA obtained from furnace incineration. The effect of SS combustion temperature on the ISSA’s pozzolanic activity is determined using TGA/DTA analysis and the Frattini test. Different amounts of SSA (5% - 35%) were utilized to evaluate the pozzolanic activity of mortar mixtures. Compressive strengths of Portland cement and ISSA mortars with 5-35 %wt ISSA were quantified and characterized chemically and physically through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy analyses. It was found that the ISSA was capable of cementitious material at a content of up to 15%.
