        Temperature Dependence of the Excitonic Energy Band Gap in In(Ga)As Nanostructures

        We analyzed temperature dependent variation of the peak energies in the photoluminescence of InAs/GaAs quantum dots and InAs/In<SUB>0.2</SUB>Ga<SUB>0.8</SUB>As/GaAs quantum dots in asymmetric well. The InAs dots were grown by migration-enhanced molecular beam epitaxy. The peak emission energies decreased monotonously with the increase of the temperature over the range of the measurements, from 13 K to 225 K. The temperature dependence of the peak energy was successfully fitted with two analytic models, namely, the phenomenological Varshni equation and the semi-empirical Fan equation based on electron-phonon statistics, respectively. The physical meaning of the Varshni coefficients is discussed in terms of phonon energy and strain in the nanostructures.

        Symmetry Properties of Spin-Resolved Exchange-Correlation Kernels in a Many-Body System

        We investigate the spin-reciprocity relations of exchange-correlation kernels, which is useful in determining the spin-charge spin-resolved responses and elementary excitations of a spin-polarized many-electron system. The role of density gradient of spin-up and spin-down electrons is examined in the exchange-correlation potential in order to improve the local spin density approximation. Two distinct spin-symmetry relations of the exchange-correlation kernels are compared by applying the symmetry relations to widely quoted exchange-correlation potentials with and without taking the density gradient into account for a system of arbitrary spin polarization. The validity of the symmetry relations in homogeneous and inhomogeneous systems is discussed.

        기후변화 적응정책 관련 생태계 지식정보 수요와 활용도 증진 방향 - 생태계 기후변화 리스크 평가 및 적응대책을 중심으로 -

        본 연구에서는 기후변화에 따른 우리나라 생태계 적응 연구 및 지식현황을 진단하고, 국가의 기초생태정보가 생태부문의 기후변화 적응 지식 및 근거기반으로 기능하는 현황을 파악함으로써 향후 생태계분야 기후변화 지식과 생태정보 발전방향에 대해 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이러한 측면에서 우리나라 생태계 관련 국가기관 및 17개 광역지자체 출연연구원에서 생태계 분야 적응연구를 수행하는 연구자를 대상으로, “생태계 분야 기후적응 지식기반 진단 및 정보수요” 조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 우리나라 기후변화 적응정책 수립 연구 수행을 위한 생태정보 활용현황, 생태계 분야 적응지식 향상을 위한 정보 수요, 생태정보 활용도 증진방안을 도출하였다. 설문응답자의 대다수(90.7%)는 생태정보가 적응 연구수행과 연관성이 크다고 응답하였지만, 현행 생태정보가 적응 연구 수행에 도움이 된다고 응답한 것은 과반(53.2%)에 불과하며, 생태정보 전반의 내용 및 품질향상과 함께 ‘기후변화로 인한 생태계 변화(생산성, 군집구조, 먹이사슬, 생물계절, 분포범위, 개체수 등)’에 대한 지식기반 강화 및 정보 구축이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 우리나라 연구자들은 생태분야 적응 연구 및 정보생산 고도화를 위해, 지역 생태계 조사 및 인벤토리 구축, 기후변화 모니터링 설계 고도화, 지역 사례연구 필요성을 지적한 가운데, 정보생산을 뒷받침 할 수 있는 생태계 변화모니터링 지침/가이드라인의 필요성을 강조하였다. 생태정보의 이용 활성화를 위해서는 국가차원의 생태정보 플랫폼 구축을 통해 국가 및 지역의 적응 네트워크를 운영함으로써 지식과 정보를 교류하는 동시에 생태계 유형 및 시공간 정보/지식의 확장이 가장 필요한 것으로 나타났다. This study aimed at investigating present research and knowledge-base on climate change adaptation in ecosystem sector and analyzed the current status of basic information on ecosystem that functions as evidence-base of climate change adaptation to deduce the suggestions for the future development for knowledge and information in biodiversity. In this perspective, a questionary survey titled as “the ecological knowledge-base and information needs for climate change adaptation” with the researchers who were engaged with adaptation studies for biodiversity in the ecosystem related-research institutes including national and 17 regional local governments­affiliated agencies in Korea. The results are as follows; current status of utilizing ecological information which supports climate change adaptation strategy, future needs for adaptation knowledge and ecological information, and activation of utilizing ecological information. The majority of respondents (90.7%) replied that the ecological information has high relevance when conducting research on climate change adaptation. However, only half of all respondents (53.2%) agreed with the real viability of current information to the adaptation research. Particularly, urgent priority for researchers was deduced as intensifying knowledge-base and constructing related information on ‘ecosystem change from climate change (productivity, community structure, food chain, phenology, range distribution, and number of individuals) with the overall improvement of information contents and its quality. The respondents emphasized with the necessity of conducting field surveys of local ecosystem and constructing ecosystem inventories, advancing monitoring designs for climate change in ecosystem, and case studies for regional ecosystem changes with the guidance or guidelines for monitoring ecosystem change to enhance the quality of adaptation research and produce related information. In terms of activation for ecological information usage, national and local adaptation network should be working based on the integrated ecological platform necessary to support exchanges of knowledge and information and to expand ecosystem types in time and spatial dimension.

        21세기 학습자의 핵심역량 제고를 위한 교육방법:

        21세기 핵심역량은 기관에 따라 다양하게 정의되지만 크게 세 가지 영역, 자율적 행동, 도구활용, 그리고 사회적 상호작용 역량으로 정리할 수 있다. 이러한 핵심역량을 함양하기 위한 학습방식은 전통적 강의중심, 교사중심의 수업과는 달라야 할 것이다. 이에 대한 대안적 방법으로서 e-PBL을 제안해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 우선규명된 21세기 학습자를 위한 핵심역량을 분석틀로 하여, ‘e-PBL’ 수업사례의 학습효과를 분석해보고, 그 결과로서 과연 e-PBL 수업방식이 21세기 핵심역량을 강 화하는데 기여할 수 있는 교육방법인지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 1999년부터 시작하여 2013년에 이르기까지 국내 KCI등재 e-PBL 관련 논문 중, 47편의 e-PBL 수업사례 연구를 선정하였으며, 이후 이들 연구에서 제시한 학습효과를 앞서 분석한 핵심역량 3영역 16요소와 연결해보았 다. 그 결과, 첫쨰, e-PBL의 학습효과는 핵심역량 중 자율적 행동 역량(43.6%, 180편), 도구 활용 역량(28.3%, 117편), 사회적 상호작용 역량(28.1%, 116편)영역 순으로 비교적 골고루 모든 역량 함양과 관계가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 약간의 비율적 차이는 보였지만, 모든 대상학령에서, 그리고 사용된 매체에 상관없이 e-PBL 수업 효과는 핵심역량과 대부분 일치하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과에 따라 e-PBL 수업방식은 21세기 핵심역량 함양을 위한 수업 방법의 하나로서 매우 긍정적인 가능성을 지니고 있다고 할 수 있다. Core competences of the 21st century learner are defined diversely according to with institutions; however, it may be summarized largely into the following three categories such as autonomous behavior, tool utilization, and social interaction competences. The learning method to cultivate such core competences, however, should be different from traditional lecture-oriented and teacher-led classes, hence, ‘e-PBL’ in this study has been intended to be proposed as an alternative pedagogy to enhance the core competences. For this purpose, this study, based upon the analysis framework of core competences, reviewed learning effects of 47 “e-PBL” studies selected out of related research published at the KCI during 2000 to 2013, and then analyzed how well the learning effects of the selected e-PBL studies have matched with each category and sub-element of the core competences. As results, first, it was found that the learning effects of the e-PBL classes mostly have satisfied all the specific categories and sub-elements of the core competences. Second, despite a slightly different ratio, both k-12 and secondary school students in the e-PBL class, regardless of subject matters and used technologies, showed positive increase in all the categories of the core competences. In conclusion, this study insists that e-PBL, the technology-enabled learner-centered pedagogy, may be seen as an alternative to meet the needs of fostering the core competences of the 21st Century learner

        지자체 기후변화 적응실무 발전방향 연구 - 생태계 분야 기후변화 적응 시행계획 수립 및 이행을 중심으로 -

        본 연구에서는 생태계 분야 기후변화 적응대책 수립 및 이행 단계에서 정책 실무자에게 주어지는 정보 현황과 수요를 파악하고 향후 생태계 분야 기후변화 지식 발전방향에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다. 우리나라 17개 광역지자체 및 이하 기초지자체 생태계 분야 소관부서에서 적응 실무를 수행하는 공무원을 대상으로, "생태계 분야 기후적응 지식기반 진단 및 정보수요"설문조사를 실시하여 실무에 활용되는 생태정보활용현황을 분석하고 활용도 증진 방안을 제시하였다. 설문응답자 전체(231명)의 75%(광역 85%, 기초 72%)는 생태정보의 존재 및 활용이 적응사업 수행과 관련이 있다고 생각하고 있었으며 적응업무를 포함한 생태계 소관부서 내 업무 전반을 위해 생태정보가 필요하다고 응답하였다(광역 82%, 기초 72%). 그러나 실제로 국가 및 지자체에서 생산하는 생태정보를 업무에 활용하는 비율은 크게 낮았다(광역 28%-64명, 기초 18%-42명). 지자체 행정 실무자들이 현업에서 생태정보를 활용할 때 느끼는 주요 한계점은 생태정보의 존재에 대한 인식과 업무 연계방안 등 정보 자체에 대한 사전 지식의 부족이었다. 이에 현존하는 기후변화 지식과 생태정보를 지자체 행정 실무자에게 교육 및 홍보를 통해 전달하는 것이 급선무로 나타났다. 향후 지자체 실무자들에게는 지자체 정책 목적에 따라 생태계 보전 또는 주민생활 지원 사업 등 생태계서비스 증진 측면의 활용을 동시에 충족시킬 수 있도록 생태계 현황에 대한 기초 정보와 지역개발 및 보전사업에 활용할 수 있는 생태정보가 마련되어야 한다. 정보 활용체계를 강화하기 위해 생태정보 활용방안에 대해 구체적 가이드라인을 제공하는 동시에 이용활성화를 위한 제도의 운영 및 관리가 필요하다. 국가적으로 양질의 정보를 제공하고 관련 정보에 대한 홍보, 업무 활용방안에 대해서 교육을 제공함으로써 지자체의 적응지식 및 생태정보 활용역량을 강화시킬 필요가 있다. This study aimed at analyzing the current status and further needs of ecological information which is provided with the civil servants in the process of climate change adaptation planning in ecosystem sector and at providing suggestions for future development of ecological knowledge on climate change. Therefore, we conducted a questionary survey titled as "the knowledge-base and information needs for climate change adaptation in ecosystem sector" with the civil servants who are engaged with adaptation practices in the ecology related divisions in 17 regional local governments (RLG) and the affiliated basic local governments (BLG) in Korea. As a result, the characteristics of ecological information which is applied in public practices was analyzed and strategies for improved utilization was suggested. 75% of the respondents (RLG 85% and BLG 72%) were aware of the relativeness between the existence and utilization of ecological information and the execution of climate adaptation practices in ecosystem sector. They were agreed with the necessity of ecological information not only in adaptation practices but also overall affairs in the ecological related division in the local government (RLG 82% and BLG 72%). The current situation of utilizing ecological information which is produced from central orlocal government to civil affairs were only represented as 64 persons (28%) in RLG and 42 persons (18%) in BLG. One of the major obstacles that the respondents confront with when applying ecological information to public practices was deficit of prior knowledge on the ecological information itself, such as awareness of the characteristics of ecological information and the link with public affairs for adaptation plans. Therefore, delivering current knowledge and ecological information on climate change by educational and promotional method is an urgent priority to the civil servant. The future needs on ecological information for local government servants were deduced as basic information on local ecosystem and applied knowledge on local development to meet the biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services at the same time. The respondents expected not only the specific guidelines for using ecological information to apply on the adaptation plans in the relevant divisions of the local governments but also the institution where the usage activation of ecological information would be operated and managed to enhance the information utilizing structure in the local government. In the nation-wide, the capacity of local governments should be enhanced with adaptation knowledge and the application of appropriate information to the public practices by central government's aiding with the better quality of information, its public promotion, and the applicability to civil affairs.

      • 터치 기반 색상 변화 저작툴과 TriCore 마이컴을 이용한 동적 LED 시스템의 설계 및 구현

        Dynamic LED lighting systems become more and more important in automobile industry. One of the most important issues in dynamic LED lighting systems is how to generate color sequences for the smart car services. In this paper, we design and implement a new dynamic LED lighting system using TriCore 32-bit MCU based hardware system and an authoring tool to produce color sequences. In the presented system, a color sequence is generated from touch trajectories over a color palette. Generated sequence is transmitted to the LED device. Then the device decodes the color sequence and displays it in itself. Detailed implementation of the demonstration system using a smartphone and a LED device is presented herein and the experimental result shows that the proposed method works well.

        Measuring the Effectiveness of an Ecosystem Service to Regulate Air Quality in Wetland, South Korea

        This study aimed to verify the suitability of an air quality regulating service for wetland ecosystem service evaluation by investigating the effect of reducing particulate matter (PM) on vegetation in wetlands. We installed tunnel-type experimental plots at Yonghwasil Pond in the National Institute of Ecology and set up the input and output of PM by applying the natural vegetation of the relevant wetlands. We took measurements by replicating four different conditions four times each. The air quality regulating service in each experimental plot was measured based on PM10 concentration; further, the difference between the input and the output concentration of PM passing through the Phragmites australis community tunnel was measured using a light scattering method. For the Phragmites australis community in the outdoor conditions and bare land, the PM concentration was measured with the same specifications as tunnel-type experimental plots without setting up the input and output. For the tunnel-type experimental plots, PM10 concentration was significantly lower in the output than in the input. Furthermore, in the outdoor conditions, a comparison between the Phragmites australis community and bare land showed that the concentration was relatively low in the former than in the latter. This confirmed the PM reducing effect due to the blockage and absorption of PM depending on the growth of Phragmites australis. Based on the results of this study, we assessed the air quality regulating service in wetlands as an evaluation indicator.

        Provisioning service, which is one of the ecosystem service functions, means goods and services such as food and fuel that people get from ecosystem. Provisioning functions are closely related to the primary industry, a sector of economy. Excessive demand and use of human society can cause trade-offs among regulation, cultural, and supporting services. Therefore, it is important to perform evaluation ecosystem services periodically and to monitor the time series fluctuations to identify the impact of provisioning services on other ecosystem services (trade-off) and to maintain sustainable provisioning service. When it comes to the precise assessment of provisioning service, it is necessary to get the statistical data and standardize indicators and methods. In this study, indicators and methods, which are applicable to the spatial level of national-local-protected areas, were derived through literature analysis and expert survey. The result of this study implies that provisioning services measurement by spatial level improve the efficiency of the establishment of environmental conservation plans by whose purpose.
