The study aimed to analyze the functional differences in 3D virtual garment programs and compare body scan data with the corresponding 3D virtual models. We selected 3D virtual garment programs, formed virtual models in a representative size for high-school male cyclists, and analyzed them using the Design-X program. The results were as follows. In the 3D virtual garment programs, the anthropometric items for virtual model forming differed significantly from the standard anthropometric items suggested by Size Korea. Comparing the lower body scan data and virtual models formed by the 3D virtual garment programs, the biggest difference was in the shapes of the waist and hips, i.e., the flatness values of the waist and hips were different for each program in the cross-section view. In the lower body, a data-input-based program was needed for changing the exact measurement position of the waist circumference and hips' shape in detail. If a 3D virtual garment program provides functions for the virtual model's joint angle input and free motion transformation, it is expected to be widely used in the sportswear industry.
Comparison of Th1 and Th17 inflammatory cytokines between plaque and guttate psoriasis

Background: The phenotypic heterogeneity of psoriasis is suspected to involve different cytokine profiles, yet not elucidated. Objectives: To investigate the tissue mRNA levels of Th1 and Th17 cytokines in patients with plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, and healthy control. Methods: A total of 15 patients with psoriasis (10 plaque type and 5 guttate type) and 5 healthy controls were enrolled. Tissue samples were obtained and the cytokines were analyzed by real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical staining. Results: The comparison between psoriatic and control tissue samples revealed that the tissue mRNA levels of IL-12, IFN-γ, IL-23, IL-17A, IL-22 and the protein levels of IL-12, IL-2, IFN-γ, IL-17A, IL-22 were significantly increased in psoriatic skin. The comparison between plaque and guttate psoriasis showed that the tissue mRNA levels of IL-23 and IL-17A and cytokine ratio of tissue mRNA levels of IL-23/IL-2 and IL-17A/IL-2 were significantly increased in plaque psoriasis compared to guttate psoriasis. Conclusion: We showed that the expression of Th1 and Th17 cytokines were increased in psoriatic skin compared to control. Among them, the tissue mRNA levels of IL-23 and IL-17A were significantly increased in plaque psoriasis compared to guttate psoriasis, indicating that the imbalance between Th1/Th17 cytokines might play a role in the phenotypic expression of psoriasis.

Fit and Pressure Analysis of Cycling Short Sleeve Tops Using a 3DVirtual Garment System

This study aims to analyze short sleeve cycling tops from three brands for a change in garment fit and pressure depending on the static and cycling postures. To this end, it used a 3D virtual garment system to virtualize the garments. Further, a cross-section of the 3D virtual garment data was obtained, and the space length was measured in the design-X program to prove the objectivity of the 3D virtual garment. The results indicated that three brands had a large space length at the front than the back because of the bent posture in cycling. Therefore, appropriate ease was required for the waist and abdomen. Although there were various cutting lines of the bodice panel by brand, the design of the cutting lines should consider the changes in the surface to reflect the bent posture in cycling. The results of this experiment confirmed that the wrinkles present in the 3D virtual garment were reflected in the cross-section and that the space length was small in the high-stress area, as shown in red. Therefore, it was proven the stress of the 3D virtual garment could be used for 3D virtual garment evaluation.
Antioxidant contents and activities of twelve varieties of vegetable sprouts

This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant contents and activities of twelve vegetable sprouts (broccoli, red radish, radish, mizuna, kale, taatsai, pak choi, Chinese cabbage, turnip, rapeseed, chicory, and alfalfa). The total flavonoid contents of the broccoli, red radish, and radish sprout were 25.36±0.13, 25.26±1.80, and 25.16±1.25 mg CE/100 g FW, respectively, and were significantly higher than those of the other tested vegetables. Radish sprouts had the highest total phenolic content (112.42 mg GAE/100 g FW), followed by red radish and broccoli sprouts. The main polyphenols in the vegetable sprouts were epicatechin and chlorogenic acid, but they varied across sprout varieties. The correlation between total flavonoids and total phenolics for the 12 vegetable sprouts was very high (r=0.926). The total antioxidant activity (DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities) was also highly correlated with total flavonoids and total phenolics.

Tomatoes, watermelons, and processed tomato products contain abundant antioxidant compounds, including lycopene. In spite of the interest in the role of lycopene, little is known about the contribution of tomatoes and tomato products commonly consumed in Korea to the intake of lycopene. In this study, the daily per capita intake values of lycopene and antioxidant compounds and activities of tomatoes, watermelons, and their processed products in Korea were estimated. The daily per capita intake values of lycopene from raw tomatoes, watermelons, tomato ketchup, and tomato juice were measured to be 1.07, 0.54, 0.26, and 0.08 mg/capita/day, respectively. The average lycopene intake of male and female were 1.98 and 1.92 mg/capita/day, respectively. The daily per capita intake value of total phenolics was highest in raw tomatoes (7.21 mg/capita/day), followed by watermelons (1.72 mg/capita/day), tomato ketchup (1.41 mg/capita/day), and tomato juice (0.80 mg/capita/day). The daily per capita intake value of total antioxidant activities also showed a similar pattern to total phenolic results. The overall daily per capita intake of antioxidant content and activities was affected by both the daily per capita intake of each product and the levels of antioxidant content and activities of each product. The daily per capita intake of these products in Korea is currently considerably low, compared to the U.S. and Europe. Thus, an adequate consumption of lycopene-rich products is recommended.
