        Sensorless Control of a Single-Phase Switched Reluctance Motor Using Residual Flux

        This paper presents a new sensorless control method for single-phase switched reluctance motors using induced electromotive force (EMF) due to the residual flux both on the stator and the rotor during phase commutation. The induced EMF falls to zero when the rotor pole moves away from the overlap with the stator pole. By detecting this instant, the speed and position of the rotor can be simply estimated. This method is very simple to implement and it is insensitive to variations in the system parameters as it does not require any stored magnetic data or offline inductance measurements but requires only measurements of the terminal voltage and a simple analog circuit. The proposed method is implemented on a 6/6 single-phase switched reluctance motor. However, it can also be implemented on a multiphase SRM regardless of the size, operation speed and switching mode of the motor hence making the proposed method viable to many applications. Simulation and experimental verification is provided to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.

        Elimination of rotor position sensors mechanically coupled with the rotor shaft is attractive to variable speed drives primarily due to increased system reliability and cost reduction. In this regard, search for a simple and robust position sensorless control has been intensified in past few years specifically for low-cost, high-volume applications such as home appliances. This paper describes a new parameter insensitive position sensorless control for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives satisfying such a need in this market segment. Two consecutive switch-on times of the controllable switch in hysteresis current control are compared to estimate the rotor position and speed. The proposed sensorless control algorithm is very simple to implement since it does not depend on extensive computation or any additional hardware. In addition, the proposed method is robust in that its dynamic performance is least affected by system parameter variations. The proposed approach is demonstrated on a single-controllable-switch-converter-driven SRM with two-phases that lends itself to a system with low cost and compact packaging which comes close to the intended applications. Analysis and simulation results followed by experimental verification are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed sensorless control method.

        쉐이딩 링 타입 교류 솔레노이드의 전자기적 해석

        A shading ring in an AC solenoid plays an important role in reducing vibration and humming sound. Estimation of performance of the shading ring placed in a stator pole of the AC solenoid is not an easy task due to the difficulty in measurement of the current and flux linkage of the shading ring. In this paper, dynamic performance of an AC solenoid with a shading ring is analyzed through the simulation using electromagnetic analysis software and the results are verified by simple AC and DC voltage tests. Both the simulation and experimental results show that the shading ring in the AC solenoid not only increases pull force, but also reduces operation time, vibration and humming sound.

        신경망을 이용한 TSRM의 정지 시 회전자 위치 검출법

        본 논문에서는 신경망을 이용한 토로이달 스위치드 릴럭턴스 모터(TSRM : Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor)의 새로운 회전자 초기 위치 검출을 제안한다. 회전자의 초기 위치검출을 하기 위하여 서치 코일을 사용하는 경우 센서비용감소, 부피감소, 강인성 증대, 사용범위의 확대 등 많은 장점이 있다. 그러나 모터의 회전자가 초기에 회전하지 않기 때문에, 서치코일에 유기되는 기전력이 존재하지 않아 회전자의 초기 위치검출에 어려움이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 신경망을 사용하여 초기에 회전자가 정지해 있을 경우에도 회전자의 위치를 정확하게 추정하는 방법을 제안하였다. 위치추정 실험을 실시하여 회전자의 실제 위치와 추정위치를 비교함으로써 제안한 방법의 정확성과 유용성을 입증하였다. In this paper, detection of rotor position at standstill of toroidal switched reluctance motor(TSRM) with built-in search coils using neural network is proposed. When search coils are used as a position sensor, it has many advantages like low cost, decrease in the volume, high robust characteristics and wide applications. However, the initial rotor position detection is very difficult because the search coil's EMF doesn't exist at standstill. In this paper, detection of initial rotor position of TSRM with built-in search coils using neural network is suggested. The experiment for the proposed method are presented. As a result of that, the accuracy and validity of the proposed method is verified.

        토로이달 스위치드 릴럭턴스 전동기의 특성 분석

        본 논문에서는 토로이달 타입 SRM(TSRM)의 특성에 대해 연구하였다. TSRM은 CSRM(Conventional SRM)과는 다르게 권선이 스테이터의 돌극이 아닌 요크에 감겨있는 형태로 되어있다. 따라서 TSRM만의 여러 가지 장점을 가지게 되며 사용되는 구동장치, 결선 방법, 인던턴스, 구동 방법 등이 CSRM과는 다른 형태를 가지게 된다. 뿐만 아니라 토크를 발생시키는 요소도 달라지고 전류 파형도 달라지게 된다. 본 논문에서는 TSRM을 이론적으로 검토하고 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 구동 특성을 분석하였다. In this paper study on a toroidal switched reluctance motor(TSRM) is described. The structure of the TSRM is different from that of a conventional SRM. The main windings of the TSRM are wound around york of the stator while those of the conventional SRM are wound around its stator poses. Therefore the TSRM has many advantages and drive system, winding connection, inductance, drive method, torque, current waveform of the TSRM are different from those of the conventional SRM. In this paper, the TSRM is analysed by simulation and experiment.

        과전류 제한 기능을 갖는 연료 분사장치의 고속 구동 방법

        High speed drive method for a fuel injector cleaner with current control is presented in this paper. The fuel injector cleaner is used for cleaning the fuel injectors in vehicles when it is clogged with deposit and rust. The fuel injector cleaner cleans the fuel injector by turning on and off the fuel injector rapidly. When the fuel injectors are cleaned, the switching speed is very important. However, when the fuel injector is turned off, the residual current in the fuel injector coil slows down the return action of the plunger in the fuel injector deteriorating performance and speed of the fuel injector cleaner. In this paper, fast turn off operation method of fuel injectors is developed for more effective cleaning. The simulation and experiment results show the validity of the proposed method.

        자동변속기 솔레노이드 밸브 세척기의 성능 향상에 관한 연구

        자동차의 자동변속기에는 변속을 하기 위한 솔레노이드 밸브가 장착되어 있으며, 이 솔레노이드 밸브는 자동변속기의 고장 원인 중 상당부분을 차지하므로 이 밸브를 세척하기 위하여 솔레노이드 밸브 세척기를 사용한다. 그러나 현재 사용되고 있는 세척기는 슬러지를 제거하는 효과가 적고 세척 속도가 느린 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 솔레노이드 오프시에 잔류전류를 신속하게 제거하여 플런저의 동작속도를 증가시킴으로써 세척력을 증가시키고 세척 속도를 빠르게 하는 방법을 제안하였으며, 그 성능을 실험을 통해 증명하였다. Solenoid valve cleaner is used for clean the solenoid valve in automatic transmission for a car when it is clogged with transmission oil sludge. Nevertheless when the solenoid is turned off, the residual current in the solenoid coil makes slow motion of the plunger in the solenoid which makes lower in cleansing performance and speed. In this paper, the method of performance improvement for solenoid valve cleaner is proposed. The residual current in the solenoid coil is eliminated rapidly by the proposed method and it improves the cleansing performance and speed. The experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.
