        The influence of Trace TiO₂ on Adsorption of Ag+-imprinted Adsorbents Made from Chitosan and Mycelium

        The complex technology of molecular imprinting with a photocatalytic reaction introduces novel ways of treating industrial and living sewage. This paper deals with the effects of trace TiO2 on Ag+-imprinted or non-imprinted adsorbents. NanoTiO2 was added during the preparation of the adsorbents. The performance of these adsorbents was compared with other common adsorbents, such as activated carbon and chitosan. TiO2 loading improved the adsorption ability for Ag+ of adsorbents. Adsorption equilibrium could be rapidly achieved at an initial Ag+ concentration of 200 mg/L under different light conditions (UV, visible light, and dark). After TiO2 loading, the maximal adsorption capacity of Ag+-imprinted and non-imprinted adsorb-ents was 25.0% higher, at 155.0 and 134.3 mg/g, respectively, at the initial Ag+ concentration of 1,000 mg/L. In order to understand the binding state of Ag, Ti on the adsorbents surface, FTIR, XPS were measured. The FTIR analysis, before and after adding TiO2, indicated that TiO2 bound with adsorbents through hydrogen bonding. XPS analysis, before and after adsorption, indicated Ag+ was reduced to Ag0 on the adsorbent surface, leading to an increased adsorption of Ag+.

        Concurrence of ovarian cancer and dermatomyositis: a propensity score analysis

        Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics, prognosis and parallel clinical course ofovarian cancer (OC) and dermatomyositis (DM). Methods: The medical records of 23 consecutive patients who were diagnosed with OC andDM and were treated at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) between 2002and 2017 were reviewed. Propensity score matching method was used to match controlgroup (OC patients without DM) at a ratio of 1:5. The correlation between OC and DM wasmeasured using the Pearson correlation scatter plot and Pearson's r. Kaplan-Meier survivalanalysis and Cox proportional hazard regression analysis were performed to evaluate theprognostic factors. Results: After matching, 23 patients who have the concurrence of OC and DM (DM group)and 115 patients diagnosed with OC alone (No DM group) were included. The 5-year overallsurvival rates (71.6% vs. 51.8%, p=0.020) and 5-year progression-free survival (30.5% vs. 0%, p=0.018) were poorer in DM group. Correlation between serum cancer antigen 125 (CA125) and creatine kinase (CK) level was observed in 12 patients. The time between OC andDM diagnosis is significant through univariable analysis (p=0.021) but not in multivariableanalysis in patients who have the concurrence of OC and DM. Conclusion: The concurrence of OC and DM as a paraneoplastic syndrome is rare and has apoor prognosis. The risk for patients diagnosed with DM is highest within 3 years before orafter OC diagnosis. A correlation and a parallel clinical course exist between these 2 diseases.

        감정노동의 심층행위의도가 심층행위에 미치는 영향

        본 연구에서는 심층행위를 예측하는 데 있어 계획된 행위이론의 심층행위의도를 활용하였다. 심층행위는 감정을 조정하는 과정으로 심층행위의도와 심층행위의 관계에서 의도 안정성을 확보하기 어렵기 때문에 이러한 관계에서 개인이 쉽게 변할 수 없는 성격특성에 따라 영향관계의 강도가 변할 수 있다. 즉 본 연구에서 심층행위의도와 심층행위의 관계에서 우호성과 정서불안정성의 조절효과를 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 심층행위를 수행하는 과정에서 인구통계요인에 따라 어떤 차이가 있는지를 확인하는 것은 인적자원관리 합리성 제고에 의미가 있을 것이다. 연구결과에 따르면 조직에서 감정노동자들로 하여금 심층행위를 수행하면 심층행위의도를 유도할 필요가 있다. 또한 인사부서는 종업원들을 채용할 때 성격특성 측정을 통해 최대한 우호성이 강한 사람을 채용할 필요가 있고 정서불안정성이 강한 사람을 피할 필요가 있다. 마지막으로 인사부서에서 직원을 채용할 때, 여성 직원을 채용할 필요가 있고, 학력은 상대적으로 높은 사람을 채용할 필요가 있다고 볼 수 있다. In this study, we used deep acting intention to predict deep acting of emotional labor. Since deep acting is the process of adjusting emotion, it is difficult to insure the relationship stability between deep acting intention and deep acting, furthermore the relationship can be changed depending on personality characteristics. Hence, this study investigated moderating effects of agreeableness and instability between deep acting intention and deep acting. In addition, identifying differences in demographics in the process of conducting deep acting will be meaningful in raising human resource management rationality. This study suggests that HRM managers should focus on hiring people who with the highest level of agreeableness and avoiding people who with strong emotional instability. Furthermore, it is necessary to hire female employees and high education background employees.

        Degradation Characteristics and Metabolic Pathway of 17β-estradiol (E2) by Rhodococcus sp. DS201

        In this study an E2-degrading bacterium was isolated from the activated sludge of a municipal treatment plant that treats the waste from a contraceptive medicineprocessing factory in Beijing, China. Using the observed morphological and physiological features of the bacterium and 16S rRNA sequence analysis, this bacterial strain was identified as Rhodococcus sp. DS201. Using single-factor experiments and orthogonal tests, it was demonstrated that, when strain DS210 bacteria were inoculated into MM medium at an initial concentration of 1 mg/L with an initial pH of 7 and an inoculum amount of 1%, complete degradation of E2 by this strain was achieved within 3 days at 30oC. After strain DS201 had degraded the E2, several E2 metabolites were detected in the culture extracts using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC); they were then further identified using HPLC with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Mass spectrum analysis of the E2 degradation identified the following products: pent- 4-enoic acid; 2-ethyl-3-hydroxy-6-methylcyclohexane-1- carboxylic acid; 3-(7a-methyl-1,5-dioxooctahydro-1H-inden- 4-yl) propanoic acid; and 5-hydroxy-4-(3-hydroxypropyl)- 7a-methyloctahydro-1H-inden-1-one. These products have not previously been reported as parts of a mechanism for microbial E2 degradation and were suspected to be new metabolite products. Therefore, the E2 degradation pathway by strain DS201 is proposed herein.
