        Electrical Design of a Solar Array for LEO Satellites

        During daylight, the solar array of low earth orbit satellites harvests electrical power to operate satellites. The power conversion of the solar array is carried out by control of the operation point using the solar array regulator when the solar array faces the sunlight. Thus, the design of the solar array should comply with not only the power requirement of satellite system but also the input voltage requirement of the solar array regulator. In this paper, the design requirements of the solar array for low earth orbit satellites are defined, and the means of satisfying these requirements are described. In addition, the architecture of a multi-distributed interface is suggested to maximize the power harvested from a solar array having high temperature deviation between each panel. The power analysis in this paper shows the optimal number of multi-distributed interfaces with a converter.

        In this paper, the fuzzy control logic of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is introduced to apply the variable speed drive system Since the speed-torque property of SRM has high speed variation to the changes of torque like a DC motor, to apply SRM to the var table speed driving system, the optimal speed-torque control method is required<br/> As the control method like this, the fuzzy logic and PI control are proposed, and characteristics of them are c ompared and verified through the experimental results.<br/>

        Thermal cycling characteristics of a 3D-printed serpentine microchannel for DNA amplification by polymerase chain reaction

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) device with integrated heaters for DNA amplification is proposed by using 3D-printing technology, which has the advantages of fast prototyping, design flexibility, and low cost. The thermal characteristics of the 3D-printed device for PCR are reported for the first time. The overall dimensions of the PCR device are 30mm×40mm where a serpentine microchannel is created to implement 27 thermal cycles. The serpentine microchannel of 260μm in depth, 450μm in width and 1470mm in length has been designed to inspect shape conformity and temperature variations. Thermal cycling experiments has showed that three temperature zones for denaturation (90–95°C), annealing (55–65°C) and extension (70–77°C) were successfully produced for DNA amplification. The thermal cycling efficiency ranges 67.4% to 47.8% when the flow rate is changed from 5μL/min to 10μL/min. The study demonstrates the feasibility of a low-cost 3D-printed PCR device that enables DNA amplification by thermal cycling. This paper concludes that 3D-printing technology can be applied for bio-microfluidic devices that require precise temperature control.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> 3D-printed thermal cycling device is experimentally studied. </LI> <LI> The dimensions of the device are 3×4cm with 27 thermal cycles. </LI> <LI> Thermal cycling efficiency is evaluated by the produced temperature zones. </LI> <LI> 3D-printing technology is feasible to microscale thermal cycler. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Electrospun Nanofiber-Based Electrodes Composed of Core-Shell (PVDF)-(Al) Structures for Application to Flexible Electronics

        Nanostructured transparent conductors have been studied intensively for application to flexible and transparent electronic devices. Among diverse nanomaterials, electrospun nanofibers provide several advantages over other nanomaterials, including a high aspect ratio, uniform distribution, and a facile fabrication process. In the present study, an electrode composed of a core-shell (PVDF)-(Al) structured nanofiber mesh film was fabricated via electrospinning and sputtering processes, without any hightemperature heat treatment or wet chemical treatment. A free-standing circular collector was used to form a PVDF nanofiber mesh film, to perform the conformal coating of Al onto the PVDF surfaces. The parameters of the tip-to-collector distance and the electrospinning voltage needed to stably form a PVDF nanofiber mesh film were determined. The sheet resistance of the mesh film was dramatically reduced from 1870 Ω/sq. to 154 Ω/sq. when the sputtering time was increased from 2 min to 4 min, an outcome explained by the changed surface morphology of the Al coating layer. The sheet resistance decreased from 657 Ω/sq. to 15.4 Ω/sq. with an increase in the electrospinning time from 2 min to 8 min due to the increased numbers of nanofibers and junctions. When the transmittance at 550 nm with respect to the sheet resistance was plotted for these mesh films, the graph was divided into the bulk and percolation regimes. Mesh films with transmittance rates that exceeded 85% exhibited sheet resistance that clearly increased with an increase in transmittance, indicating a percolation network. Finally, the durability of the core-shell (PVDF)-(Al) structured nanofiber mesh film was evaluated using a repetitive bending test, the results of which clearly showed superior performance over Al thin film. With inexpensive metal Al, a competitive flexible and transparent electrode was fabricated in the form of a core-shell (PVDF)-(Al) structured nanofiber mesh film.

      • 백화제방(百花齊放)의 시기에 접어든 중국 영화에 대한 고찰

        2000년대 중반 이후 중국영화산업은 정책 완화 등을 기반으로 급속히 성장하였으며 중국식 상업영화도 다양한 형태로 나타났다. 90년대 후반에는 이마 필름에서 만든 신인감독이 현대 도시민의 생활을 그려낸 중저예산 상업영화와 화이브라더스에서 만든 펑샤오강 감독의 설날특선 코미디영화들이 중국 상업영화의 싹을 틔웠다. 2000년대 초반에는 고예산, 스타캐스팅, 사극액션을 특징으로 하는 대작영화들이 등장하여 중국 영화산업 규모의 급속한 성장을 주도하였지만 초고예산영화와 극저예산영화만이 존재하는 양극화 현상을 초래하였다. 2000년 중반 이후에는 홍콩에서 투자를 받았거나 내용과 스타일 면에서 영향을 받은 중저예산급 영화들이 등장하여 다양한 장르를 선보였으며 그러면서 중국 스타일의 가족애나 휴머니즘을 담아서 독특한 중국식 상업영화의 가능성을 보여주었다. 한편, 90년대 후반부터 지금까지 활발히 활동해온 펑샤오강 감독은 흐름에 편승하기 보다는 중국 북방식 코미디, 휴머니즘을 담은 전쟁 영화와 재난영화 등을 선보이면서 중국 관객에게 확실히 어필하는 상업영화 세계를 구축하고 있다. 중국영화는 현재 여러 가지 장애요인이 존재함에도 불구하고 영화의 ‘백화제방’ 시기를 맞이하였으며, 홍콩 뿐 아니라 대만의 요인도 흡수함으로써 중국만의 독특한 상업영화를 발전시켜나갈 것으로 전망된다. Since the mid-2000, China’s cinema industry showed rapid growth based on deregulation and its commercial films appeared in various forms. In late 1990s, low and mid-budget commercial film on the lives of modern urbanites by a new director from Imar Films and Huayi Brothers produced New Years comedy films directed by Feng Xiao Gang were the ones that started China’s commercial films. From early 2000, high budgeted star starring historic action blockbusters began to emerge in large quantities, leading the fast growth in Chinese cinema industry. However on the other hand it caused a polarized condition where only the ultra-high budgeted films and ultra-low budgeted films exit in the market. Since then, low and mid-budgeted films that received investments from or were influenced by Hong Kong in contents and style appeared in various genres. These films added in family ties or humanism unique to China and showed potential in distinctive Chinese style commercial films. All the while, director Feng Xiao Gang who had been busy in action from late 1990s till now, had chosen to make Northen Chinese style comedies, humanistic war and catastrophe films instead of joining the main stream, and has established his own commercial film world that appeals to th e Chinese audience for certain. Although several obstacles exist on its way at the moment, Chinese cinema is welcoming the cinematic days of ‘Hundred Flourishing Flowers(Bai Hua Ji Fang)’, absorbing traits of not only Hong Kong but also that of Taiwan, expected to develop commercial films unique to China.

      • 객체의 위치와 윤곽선 정보를 활용한 딥러닝 기반 영역 세분화 방법론에 관한 연구 : 건물 외벽 이미지를 중심으로

        본 연구는 이미지 분석 딥러닝 기법을 이용하여, 건물 외피 이미지에 존재하는 객체의 영역을세분화(Segmentation)하는 방법론에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 기존의 영역 세분화 방법론은 이미지에 존재하는 객체의 위치와 윤곽선에 대한 정보를 직접 활용하지 않는 단점이 있다. 하지만, 건물의 경우 윤곽선 명확하게 구분되고 연결된다는 특징을 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 건물 외피이미지를 효과적으로 분석하기 위해, 객체 위치 정보를 기반으로 프로세스를 세분화하고, 윤곽선정보를 효과적으로 반영할 수 있는 방법론을 제안한다.
