As the third part of the taxonomic review of Cicadidae (Hemiptera, Auchenorrhyncha) from Taiwan, 18 species belonging to six genera in cicadine tribes, Dundubiini (two other genera of Cicadina) and Moganiini, and a tibicinine tribe, Huechysini, are treated in this paper. A new genus, Formocicada Lee and Hayashi, and two new species, Tanna infuscata Lee and Hayashi and Formocicada taiwana Lee and Hayashi, are described. Four species are synonymized: Tanna taikosana Kato, 1925 and Tanna horiensis Kato, 1926 with Tanna taipinensis (Matsumura, 1907), and Tanna horishana Kato, 1925 and Tanna tarowanensis (Matsumura, 1927) with Tanna viridis Kato, 1925. Cryptotympana facialis (Walker, 1858), Cosmopsaltria doryca (Boisduval, 1835), and Leptopsaltria tuberosa (Signoret, 1847) are newly considered as species erroneously recorded from Taiwan. Informations on the biology and male chirpings are also provided.

Difference of Dissolved Inorganic Phosphorus (DIP), Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen (DIN) and Dissolved Silicate (DSi) budgets in the Bohai Sea between 1982 and 1992 related the decrease of the Yellow River discharge is discussed on the basis of observed data. The estuarine circulation in the Bohai Sea had been weakened from 1982 to 1992 due to the decrease of the Yellow River discharge and the average residence time of fresh water had become longer. DIN concentration increased but DIP and DSi concentrations decreased from 1982 to 1992 in the Bohai Sea. Primary production was regulated mainly by water temperature and DIN concentration in 1982 but it was regulated mainly by DIP concentration in 1992. Primary production was larger than decomposition plus bottom release and nitrogen fixation was larger than denitrification in 1982. However, decomposition plus bottom release was larger than primary production and denitrification was larger than nitrogen fixation in 1992 in the Bohai Sea.
Studies on Microstructural Phenomena Caused by Atomic Diffusion in Sintered Materials

During the sintering of powder materials, many these are microstructural phenomena are caused by atomic diffusion. (1) neck formation and compact densification, (2) grain growth, i.e., growth of matrix grains and dispersed grains, (3) alloying or generation of compound, (4) generations of peculiar and hard layers near sintered compact surface, etc. The studies of the present author and co-workers on these phenomena which were carried out during 40 years are briefly introduced.

[Purpose] Exercise-induced hemolysis, which is caused by metabolic and/or mechanical stress during exercise, is considered a potential factor for upregulating hepcidin. Intramuscular carnosine has multiple effects including antioxidant activity. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether long-term carnosine/ anserine supplementation modulates exercise-induced hemolysis and subsequent hepcidin elevation. [Methods] Seventeen healthy male participants were allocated to two different groups: participants consuming 1,500 mg/day of carnosine/anserine supplements (n = 9, C+A group) and participants consuming placebo powder supplements (n = 8, PLA group). The participants consumed carnosine/anserine or placebo supplements daily for 30.7 ± 0.4 days. They performed an 80-running session at 70% V4 O pre-and 2peak post-supplementation. Iron regulation and inflammation in response to exercise were evaluated. [Results] Serum iron concentrations significantly increased after exercise (p < 0.01) and serum haptoglobin concentrations decreased after exercise in both groups (p < 0.01). No significant differences in these variables were observed between pre-and post-supplementation. Serum hepcidin concentration significantly increased 180 min after exercise in both groups (p < 0.01). The integrated area under the curve of hepcidin significantly decreased after supplementation (p = 0.011) but did not vary between the C+A and PLA groups. [Conclusion] Long-term carnosine/anserine supplementation does not affect iron metabolism after a single endurance exercise session.

Ovotransferrin (OTf) was phosphorylated by dry-heating in the presence of pyrophosphate at pH 4.0 and $85^{\circ}C$ for 1 and 5 d, and the functional properties of phosphorylated OTf (PP-OTf) were investigated. The phosphorus content of OTf increased to 0.91% as a result of phosphorylation and the electrophoretic mobility of PP-OTf also increased. Although the solubility of dry-heated OTf slightly decreased, the decrease was reduced by phosphorylation. The stability against heat-induced insolubilization of OTf was somewhat improved by phosphorylation, but more than 70% of PP-OTf was insolubilized when it was heated at $70^{\circ}C$ for 10 min at pH 7.0. However, heat-induced insolubilization of PP-OTf was reduced when it was heated in the presence of phosphorylated ovalbumin. This may explain the excellent stability of phosphorylated egg white protein against heat-induced insolubilization which was reported previously. The emulsifying property of OTf was also somewhat improved by phosphorylation. The calcium phosphate-solubilizing ability of PP-OTf was enhanced. Although the degree of phosphorylation of OTf by dry-heating in the presence of pyrophosphate was similar to that of ovalbumin, the improvement of properties of PP-OTf was considerably different from those of phosphorylated ovalbumin.

Chemical processing of $Nb_2O_5$coated $BaTiO_3$-composite particles was investigated with surface modification through hydrolysis of niobium ethoxide on the surface of $BaTiO_3$ particles. It was clarified from BET measurement, SEM&TEM observations and Zeta-potential that origineal $BaTiO_3$ particles were homogeneously coated or modified with niobium hydroxide particles. $Nb_2O_5(1wt%)$-coated $BaTiO_3$ bodies sintered at 1250-$1257^{\circ}C$ exhibited a rather flat temperature characteristic with dielectric constants of 2200-3000 and $tan{\delta}\; of\;{\leqq}1%$. The microstructure on $Nb_2O_5$-coated $BaTiO_3$ sintered bodies consisted of grains of several ${\mu}m which are much smaller than those of $BatiO_3$ sintered bodies, suggesting that the grain growth of $BaTiO_3$ was suppressed by Nb205 particles existing existing at the grain boundaries.
Arnoldi Algorithm for the Simulation of Multidimensional Infrared Spectroscopy

The cubic and quartic anharmonic force field of malonaldehyde is calculated using density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level, and used to simulate coherent infrared vibrational spectra. 12 normal modes are included in the simulation, and the Arnoldi method is employed for the diagonalization of the Hamiltonian. The calculated three pulse infrared signals in the k1 + k2 - k3 direction show signatures of the intramolecular hydrogen bond couplings between the C=O stretch, H-O-C bend and O-H stretch vibrations.
