      • Performance Analysis of Different Wavelet Families Over Fading Environments for Mobile WiMAX System

        Harpreet Kaur,Manoj Kumar,Ajay K Sharma,Harjit P. Singh 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.8 No.1

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has made tremendous improvement possible in wireless technology. Wavelet analysis is used as an alternative to Fourier analysis in OFDM system to transform and map data onto orthogonal subcarriers, as it is a time-frequency domain operation thus it offers the advantages of optimal flexibility with less complexity. This paper presents performance analysis in terms of Bit Error rate (BER) of different wavelet families in OFDM System under the joint effect of path loss, multipath fading and noisy environment for Mobile WiMAX. The results obtained show that the performance of the mobile-multipath environments for 16-QAM modulation schemes is enhanced as Daubechies and Biorthogonal wavelet families offers lower BER with different Path loss model. The performance measurements and analysis was done in simulation developed in MATLAB.

Developing a Biomedical Expert Finding System Using Medical Subject Headings

        Harpreet Singh,Reema Singh,Arjun Malhotra,Manjit Kaur 대한의료정보학회 2013 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.19 No.4

Objectives: Efficient identification of subject experts or expert communities is vital for the growth of any organization. Most of the available expert finding systems are based on self-nomination, which can be biased, and are unable to rank experts. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a robust and unbiased expert finding system which can quantitatively measure expertise. Methods: Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is a controlled vocabulary developed by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) for indexing research publications, articles and books. Using the MeSH terms associated with peer-reviewed articles published from India and indexed in PubMed, we developed a Web-based program which can be used to identify subject experts and subjects associated with an expert. Results: We have extensively tested our system to identify experts from India in various subjects. The system provides a ranked list of experts where known experts rank at the top of the list. The system is general; since it uses information available with the PubMed, it can be implemented for any country. Conclusions: The expert finding system is able to successfully identify subject experts in India. Our system is unique because it allows the quantification of subject expertise, thus enabling the ranking of experts. Our system is based on peer-reviewed information. Use of MeSH terms as subjects has standardized the subject terminology. The system matches requirements of an ideal expert finding system.

Effect of thermal conductivity on isotropic modified couple stress thermoelastic medium with two temperatures

Harpreet Kaur,Parveen Lata 국제구조공학회 2020 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.34 No.2

The objective is to study the deformation in a homogeneous isotropic modified couple stress thermoelastic medium with mass diffusion and with two temperatures due to a thermal source and mechanical force. Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are applied to obtain the solutions of the governing equations. The displacements, stress components, conductive temperature, mass concentration and couple stress are obtained in the transformed domain. Numerical inversion technique has been used to obtain the solutions in the physical domain. Isothermal boundary and insulated boundaryconditions are used to investigate the problem. Some special cases of interest are also deduced.

Qualitative assessment of geostatistical and non-geostatistical fusion techniques: a case study on landsat 8 images

        Harpreet Singh,Prabhakar Alok Verma,Sameer Saran 대한공간정보학회 2019 Spatial Information Research Vol.27 No.3

Broadly satellite images are available in two categories (1) high spectral resolution but less spatial resolution (2) high spatial resolution but less spectral resolution. But in certain applications, images with high spatial as well as high spectral resolution are required. To meet such kind of requirement, Image fusion is widely accepted and increasingly being used. In this study satellite image fusion is done using geostatistical methods (cokriging, regression kriging) and non-geostatistical methods (intensity hue saturation, principal component analysis). The study is focused on performing qualitative assessment of selected image fusion techniques. In this study, the primary variable is RGB bands of Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) and the panchromatic band is chosen as the second variable. The output of these selected methods is compared to access spectral and spatial quality. Spectral quality is accessed by finding the correlation between the primary variable and the output, however spatial quality is accessed via texture analysis method named entropy. Overall assessment of loss of correlation, luminance distortion, and contrast distortion is done using Image quality index. Correlation index of regression kriging and PCA are comparable whereas entropy and image quality index of fused output is highest in case of regression kriging. Hence regression kriging can be concluded as the best fusion technique out of the compared techniques.

Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw Associated with Palatal Bone and Soft Tissue Trauma: A Case Report

        Harpreet Singh,Wafaa Saleh,Seunghee Cha,Joseph Katz,Axel Ruprecht 대한안면통증∙구강내과학회 2019 Journal of Oral Medicine and Pain Vol.44 No.1

The aim of this case report is to present a case of 68-year-old male with a history of multiple myeloma and the intravenous use of Zometa (zoledronic acid) who had developed medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) following a hot pizza burn to the palate. Clinical and radiographic findings revealed grade 1 MRONJ of the right side of the hard palate. Soft tissue trauma and delayed epithelialization may be associated with some cases of MRONJ. Patients on anti-resorptive medications or anti-angiogenic drugs should be informed of the risk of bone exposure and subsequent MRONJ secondary to physical/chemical insults to the bone and soft tissue in the oral cavity.

Impact of g-C3N4 loading on NiCo LDH for adsorptive removal of anionic and cationic organic pollutants from aqueous solution

Harpreet Kaur,Satnam Singh,Bonamali Pal 한국화학공학회 2021 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.38 No.6

Layered double hydroxides are traditional positively charged inorganic materials generally considered as efficient and low-cost adsorbents for the removal of anionic organic molecules. In this study, we prepared a series of g- C3N4@NiCo LDH composites by loading 10-30 wt% of g-C3N4 onto the LDH through the electrostatic self-assembly method. The bare LDH and g-C3N4 loaded LDH composites were characterized by XRD, SEM-EDS, Zeta, DLS, and FTIR techniques. Results revealed that extra peak corresponds to g-C3N4 originating in the XRD patterns, distorted morphology of LDH, reduction in positive surface zeta potential, and enhancement in hydrodynamic size after loading of g-C3N4 affirmed the successful formation of the composite. The adsorption performance of as-modified LDH was evaluated by removing the most commonly used salicylic acid and methylene blue as anionic and cationic model pollutant, respectively, from aqueous solution. The adsorption mechanism for both the pollutants by as-synthesized samples follows Langmuir isotherm. The results demonstrated that the bare LDH exhibited maximum adsorption efficiency of 75.16mg/g and only 3.66mg/g for salicylic acid and methylene blue, respectively. With 30 wt% loading of g- C3N4, the adsorption capacity for methylene blue increased to 25.16mg/g almost 6-7 times higher than that of bare LDH. On the other hand, the opposite effect on adsorptive removal of salicylic acid was observed with increase in the wt% loading of g-C3N4. With 30 wt% loading of g-C3N4, the adsorption capacity for salicylic acid decreased to 38.37mg/g, almost half that of bare LDH. A possible mechanism has been proposed. The kinetics for adsorption of salicylic acid onto bare LDH obeys the second-order model aside from the methylene blue adsorption which follows first-order kinetics. On the other hand, the kinetics of adsorption for both the pollutants onto (10-30) CN- LDH composites follows second order kinetics.

Effect of trigger day serum luteinising hormone levels on the in-vitro fertilization outcome: an observational study

        Harpreet Kaur,Gautham T Pranesh,Vyshnavi Rao,Kamini A Rao 대한산부인과학회 2024 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.67 No.2

Objective Controlled ovarian stimulation leads to profound changes in the endocrine characteristics of the ovarian cycle. Serum luteinising hormone (LH) levels on the day of trigger have been shown to correlate with oocyte quality and pregnancy rate in antagonist cycles. Methods This is an observational study of 86 women undergoing an antagonist in-vitro fertilisation cycle. Oocyte maturation trigger used was either Inj. human chorionic gonadotropin or Inj. triptorelin 0.2 mg s/c or a combination of both. Women were categorised into four groups based on serum LH levels on the day of trigger i.e., LH ≤0.5 (n=8), LH=0.6- 1.0 international units (IU)/L (n=12), LH=1.0-1.5 IU/L (n=13), and LH >1.6 IU/L (n=53) and the subgroup analysis was done based on type of trigger used. Results Mature oocyte (MII) retrieval rate did not show a significant relation with serum LH levels (87%, 89%, 77%, and 76% in groups with LH <0.5, 0.5-1.0, 1.0-1.5, and >1.5 IU/L respectively; P-value=0.243). There was no significant difference in the clinical pregnancy rate either when women were split according to the type of trigger given or according to trigger day LH levels. Women with low LH levels (<0.5 IU/L) required significantly more doses of gonadotropins compared to women with LH levels of 1.0-1.5 IU/L. (3,531+1,133 vs. 2,281+938; P-value=0.01). Conclusion Based on the observation from the current study, there was no significant association of serum LH levels with MII retrieval rate and clinical pregnancy rate. The group with low LH levels required slightly longer days of stimulation. Objective Controlled ovarian stimulation leads to profound changes in the endocrine characteristics of the ovarian cycle.
