Mohammed Hariri Bakri(Mohammed Hariri Bakri ),Khalifa Khalfan Salem Muftah Almansoori(Khalifa Khalfan Salem Muftah Almansoori ),Nur Syazni Mohd Azlan(Nur Syazni Mohd Azlan ) People&Global Business Association 2023 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.28 No.1

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the behavioural intention of the millennials in Malaysia toward the acceptance of Islamic e-wallet usage using Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology(UTAUT) via Structural Equation Model. Design/methodology/approach: The data have been collected by the 384 millennials in Malaysia. A person has aged between 25 until 40 years old is considered the millennials group The method that used in this paper is the Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). There will be five independent variables: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating condition, and Shariah-compliant. Shariah-compliant variables have been added to the study because the study investigates the Islamic e-wallet where it is needed the Shariah-compliant elements. Before the data is analysed into measurement, preliminary analysis such as Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) is conducted as well. Findings: The result showed that the performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI) and Shariah complaint (SC) significantly affect the Islamic e-wallet acceptance among the millennials. In addition, the Shariah complaint has a strong effect on Islamic e-wallet acceptance. In contrast, facilitating condition (FC) showed no effect on Islamic e-wallet acceptance. In this study, all the requirements for model fit were achieved. The four exogenous constructs are performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI) and facilitating condition (FC). The mediating construct is behavioural intention (BI) and the endogenous is user adoption (UA). All exogenous constructs show significant p-value except for effort expectancy (EE). Research limitation/implications: This paper offers important implications specifically for the digital economy as it is currently making its way throughout every aspect in the human life, be it social, religion, financial transaction, entertainment and many more. The impact of digital economy can be traced through the emergence of Fintech. One of the least academically discussed areas is the adoption of Islamic Fintech. This study is considered necessary to explore the prediction of consumer behaviour in Islamic Fintech intention, as part of digital economy. The Impact of Leadership Styles Among UAE Municipalities Employees

Mohammed Hariri Bakri(Mohammed Hariri Bakri ),Abdulla Ali Al Mazrouei(Abdulla Ali Al Mazrouei ),Albert Feisal Ismail(Albert Feisal Ismail ),Mohamad Idham Md Razak(Mohamad Idham Md Razak ),Geraldine De People&Global Business Association 2023 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.28 No.4

Purpose: This research examines the impact of four leadership behavior styles; directive, supportive, participative, and achievement-oriented. These four leadership behavior styles are retrieved from the Path goal theory, which considers the employee motivation determinants by the expectancy theory. Design/methodology/approach: The association between the leadership styles and behaviors suggested by the Path goal theory with employee motivation lacks the role of the entrepreneurial mindset factor, which stands on the thinking that enables the employee to overcome challenges, be decisive, and accept responsibility. This research tests the mediation effect of the entrepreneurial mindset factor to fill this gap and contributes significantly to the knowledge of leadership behavior styles. The study also validates the proposed conceptual framework using structural equations modeling, then uses smart PLS with the data collected from 341 employees from the UAE municipalities to test the constructed hypotheses of this research. Findings: The finding of this research revealed a positive and significant relationship between achievement-oriented style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE, a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial mindset and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE, a positive and significant relationship between participative style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE and positive and significant relationship between supportive style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE. The mediation effect of the entrepreneurial mindset factor, there was a mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between directive style and employee motivation. There is no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between achievement-oriented style and employee motivation, no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between participative style and employee motivation, and no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between supportive style and employee motivation. Research limitations/implications: The employees must be appreciated verbally or in writing for their activities in the municipalities to increase their powers and responsibilities and to provide training and career development opportunities. These are the primary leadership motivational factors that provide employees with psychological and social support rather than economic benefit. It can be stated that psycho-social motivation ties employees more. The findings can assist managers in determining which type of leadership style is most suitable in terms of outcomes, as well as how they can adjust their leadership styles to make them more successful and result-oriented. Originality/value: This research can be the first local empirical research to evaluate the organization's performance relationship between leadership behavior styles and the UAE municipality employees' motivation through an entrepreneurial mindset.

Effect of Crocus sativus L. stigma (saffron) against subacute effect of diazinon: histopathological, hematological, biochemical and genotoxicity evaluations in rats

        Hariri, Alireza Timcheh,Moallem, Seyed Adel,Mahmoudi, Mahmoud,Memar, Bahram,Razavi, Bibi Marjan,Hosseinzadeh, Hossein KOREAN PHARMACOPUNCTURE INSTITUTE 2018 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.21 No.2

Objective: In this study, the effects of saffron stigma against subacute diazinon (DZN) toxicity on enzymes levels, biochemical, hematological, histopathological and genotoxicity indices were studied in rats. Methods: Vitamin E (200 IU/kg) and the aqueous extract of saffron (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg) were injected intraperitoneally three times per week alone or with DZN (20 mg/kg/day, orally) for 4 weeks. The hematological and biochemical parameters were evaluated at the end of 4 weeks. Results: Reticulocytes counts, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine phosphokinase, CPK-MB, gama glutamyl transferase (GGT), uric acid and micronucleus indices were increased significantly but total protein and RBC cholinesterase activity were decreased in the DZN-treated group. Saffron prevented the effect of DZN on GGT (50 mg/kg), LDH, CPK and CPK-MB (100 and 200 mg/kg) levels. An increased uric acid and reduced protein levels by DZN were prevented by vitamin E and some doses of saffron. A significant reduction was observed in platelets, RBC, hemoglobin and hematocrit indices in the DZN group. Saffron and vitamin E prevented this reduction. Vitamin E and saffron did not reduce the effect of DZN on RBC cholinesterase activity. The extract and vitamin E could not prevent DZN genotoxicity in the micronucleus assay. Other biochemical parameters and pathological evaluation did not show any abnormality in tissues of all groups. Conclusion: This study shows that vitamin E and saffron reduce DZN induced hematological and biochemical toxicity. However, they do not prevent the genotoxicity induced by DZN.

      • Strain-based seismic failure evaluation of coupled dam-reservoir-foundation system

        Hariri-Ardebili, M.A.,Mirzabozorg, H.,Ghasemi, A. Techno-Press 2013 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.2 No.1

Generally, mass concrete structural behavior is governed by the strain components. However, relevant guidelines in dam engineering evaluate the structural behavior of concrete dams using stress-based criteria. In the present study, strain-based criteria are proposed for the first time in a professional manner and their applicability in seismic failure evaluation of an arch dam are investigated. Numerical model of the dam is provided using NSAD-DRI finite element code and the foundation is modeled to be massed using infinite elements at its far-end boundaries. The coupled dam-reservoir-foundation system is solved in Lagrangian-Eulerian domain using Newmark-${\beta}$ time integration method. Seismic performance of the dam is investigated using parameters such as the demand-capacity ratio, the cumulative inelastic duration and the extension of the overstressed/overstrained areas. Real crack profile of the dam based on the damage mechanics approach is compared with those obtained from stress-based and strain-based approaches. It is found that using stress-based criteria leads to conservative results for arch action while seismic safety evaluation using the proposed strain-based criteria leads to conservative cantilever action.

      • Effects of the Real Estate Transaction Tax on Saudi Arabia's Economic Cycles

HARIRI, Mohammad Majdi Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 Asian journal of business environment Vol.12 No.1

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to determine the effects of the Real Estate Transactions Tax (RETT) on the economic cycles of Saudi Arabia. A secondary purpose is to determine the effects of RETT on the construction and real estate sectors of Saudi Arabia. Research design, data and methodology: The data used is retrieved from the General Authority of Statistics, Saudi Central Bank and the World Bank Open Data. Econometric models of multiple linear regression with dummy variables have been conducted to achieve the objectives and to quantitatively verify the hypotheses. Results: With the VAT exemption in real estate transactions and its substitution with RETT, a positive effect on the economy and the real estate sector has been observed. However, this tax reform has not produced any significant effects in the construction sector. Conclusions: The main conclusion of the present research is that the real estate market has a major influence on economic cycles. After the tax reform, a reduction in the contribution of taxes on real estate transactions to GDP was detected. For the construction sector, after the tax reform, it is estimated that there will be an insignificant reduction in the contribution of the real estate price index, and of the taxes on real estate transactions, to GDP.

A smeared crack model for seismic failure analysis of concrete gravity dams considering fracture energy effects

        Hariri-Ardebili, Mohammad Amin,Seyed-Kolbadi, Seyed Mahdi,Mirzabozorg, Hasan Techno-Press 2013 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.48 No.1

In the present paper, a coaxial rotating smeared crack model is proposed for mass concrete in three-dimensional space. The model is capable of applying both the constant and variable shear transfer coefficients in the cracking process. The model considers an advanced yield function for concrete failure under both static and dynamic loadings and calculates cracking or crushing of concrete taking into account the fracture energy effects. The model was utilized on Koyna Dam using finite element technique. Dam-water and dam-foundation interactions were considered in dynamic analysis. The behavior of dam was studied for different shear transfer coefficients considering/neglecting fracture energy effects. The results were extracted at crest displacement and crack profile within the dam body. The results show the importance of both shear transfer coefficient and the fracture energy in seismic analysis of concrete dams under high hydrostatic pressure.

Estimating a Seismic Wave Velocity for Exciting the Greatest Anticipated Vertical Deck Displacement of a Cable-Stayed Bridge Subjected to Asynchronous Excitation

Bashar Hariri,Lan Lin 한국콘크리트학회 2021 International Journal of Concrete Structures and M Vol.15 No.2

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the seismic wave velocity on vertical displacement of a cable-stayed bridge’s deck under asynchronous excitation. The Quincy Bayview Bridge located in Illinois, USA, and four other generic bridges are selected for the study. Ten records obtained from earthquakes in US, Japan, and Taiwan are used as input for the seismic excitation in the time-history analysis. Two equations are proposed in this study to determine a critical seismic wave velocity that would produce the greatest vertical deck displacement. The critical wave velocity depends on the total length of the bridge, the fundamental period of the bridge, and the C-factor. The C-factor in this study is 0.72, which is based on analyzed results from the five selected bridges. The two equations and the C-factor are verified through application on two 3-span cable-stayed bridges studied previously by Nazmy and Abdel-Ghaffar. The proposed C-factor of 0.72 is recommended for use for typical 3-span cable-stayed bridges with a side-to-main span ratio of about 0.48. The methodology developed in the study, however, can be applied to any specific bridge to examine the excitation of the deck vertical displacement under the longitudinal seismic ground motion.

Utility of FDG-PET/CT for the Detection and Characterization of Sternal Wound Infection Following Sternotomy

        Hadi Hariri,Stéphanie Tan,Patrick Martineau,Yoan Lamarche,Michel Carrier,Vincent Finnerty,Sébastien Authier,Francois Harel,Matthieu Pelletier-Galarneau 대한핵의학회 2019 핵의학 분자영상 Vol.53 No.4

Purpose FDG-PET/CT has the potential to play an important role in the diagnosis of sternal wound infections (SWI). The purpose of this study was to analyze the diagnostic accuracy of FDG-PET/CT for SWI in patients following sternotomy. Methods We performed a single-center, retrospective analysis of patients who had undergone median sternotomy and FDG-PET/ CT imaging. The gold standard consisted of positive bacterial culture and/or the presence of purulent material at surgery. Qualitative patterns of sternal FDG uptake, SUVmax, and associated CT findings were determined, and an imaging scoring system was developed. The diagnostic performances were studied in both the recent (≤ 6 months between sternotomy and imaging) and remote surgery phase (> 6 months). Results A total of 40 subjects were identified with 11 confirmed SWI cases. Consensus interpretation was associated with a sensitivity of 91%and specificity of 97%. Combination of uptake patterns yielded an AUC of 0.96 while use of SUVmax yielded an AUC of 0.82. Conclusions Results suggest that FDG-PET/CT may be useful for the diagnosis of SWI with optimal diagnostic accuracy achieved by identifying specific patterns of uptake. SUVmax can be helpful in assessing subjects with remote surgery, but its use is limited in the context of recent surgery. Further studies are required to confirm these results.
