We present interactive LEGO modeling using dual wands with relative attitude mapping. Wands incorporate Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) for computing attitude in 3Dimensional space. IMU has 3-axis inertial sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer and digital compass) and onboard Quaternion Kalman Filter (KF) fuses data from inertial sensors for attitude estimation. In order to build 3D LEGO models using dual wands, relative attitude mapping technique developed to navigate in 3D space. User can interact with modeling software very easily to build LEGO models.

Distributed generation (DG) is increasing in day to day life to meet the global energy consumption demand. One of the major problems with such DG is islanding. The islanding is caused in the grid connected system when a part of DG is disconnected from the main grid and continues to feed the load connected. As per the IEEE 1547 DG interconnection standards, the islanding should be detected within 2 s after islanding. This paper presents, a new rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) based hybrid islanding detection approach. It combines the passive and active ROCOF methods. The simulation results indicate this method is very effi ciently classifying the islanding and non islanding events. It detects the zero power balanced islanding within 200 ms and unbalanced islanding within 100 ms. The simulation results are carried on Matlab/Simulink 2018B environment.

Grid integration of renewable energy sources in distributed generation (DG) is increasing day to day life due to their advantages of increasing system reliability and power quality. Ahead of their advantages, they are suff ering with the problem of unintentional islanding. Islanding is caused in the DG due to problems in the main grid. It is required to detect the islanding within 2 s after islanding as per DG interconnection standards. In this paper a new passive islanding detection method for single synchronous generator based DG and multiple DG units is proposed with rate of change of exciter voltage, over the rate of change of reactive power (dE/dQ). Due to inertia, the response of these exciter voltage and reactive power are very sensitive to small changes compared to other passive parameters, because in the real world the exciter voltage and reactive power are directly depends on the excitation of the generator. The investigations are made on the Matlab/Simulink environment. This method is clearly diff erentiating between islanding and non islanding events. The eff ectiveness of this method compared with other passive methods is, it detects islanding during zero power imbalance conditions of active and reactive power.

A spatial modelling system with a new interface which is optimized for automotive design is proposed in the conceptual modelling phase. In the initial sketch stage to set the volume and the ratio of the car, the automotive styling is created using a two-dimensional plane sketch with an accurate input and a designer-friendly interface. The character lines, which have important implications in the design of the car, are drawn with a curve-based oversketch. The shape of the car is modified using area-based modification. A completed two-dimensional model consists of converting the character lines to a three-dimensional car model. In the three-dimensional spatial oversketch stage, the edge and mesh on the surface are deformed by viewing the three-dimensional shape of the vehicle with various views using a spatial input device and stereoscopic display. Edge-based deformation modifies single or multiple edges while maintaining continuity between the surfaces. A sculpting technique is applied to execute special shapes such as the accent lines and the strake lines. A sketch system which can be used by designers to perform three-dimensional spatial modelling is proposed.
