Recently, there has been enormous damage due to river floodings caused by localized heavy rains. The direct discharge triggered by those torrential rains inflicts severe property damage on the residents of nearby areas. To minimize the possibility of river floodings in case of heavy rains and to predict the possible damage, the management of existing rainfall and water level observatories should be checked and prediction methods based on the characteristics of water usage and floodgate of nearby rivers must be further analyzed. Therefore, this research analyzed the water level change predictions on different spots with a regression equation of rainfall and water levels, using the observation data of the water level observatory in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon Province and the rainfall observatory which are located on the upper region of the Han river.

Ti-6Al-4V alloy has an excellent fatigue strength but it has a low corrosion resistance compared with pure titanium. To develop the alloys for the dental implant with better corrosion resistance, Ti, TiN and Ti/TiN were coated on Ti-6Al-4V alloy by electron-beam physical vapor deposition(EB-PVD) method. Ti-6Al-4V alloys were made under the condition of hydrogen and vacuum arc furnace and were quenched at 1,000℃ under high purity dried Ar gas atmosphere and were hold at 500℃ for 2hrs to achieve the fatigue strength(1140㎫) of alloys. Corrosion tests of three coated alloys were used to investigate the electrochemical corrosion behavior in 0.9% NaCl solution. The corrosion potential(+200㎷) of Ti-6Al-4V alloys coated with Ti/TiN is higher and lower active and passive current densities than that of alloys coated with Ti(-300㎷), TiN(-100㎷) and uncoated ones(-400㎷). Also uncoated alloys showed the decreasing of the pitting and repassivation potential in comparison with Ti, TiN and Ti/TiN coated alloys. The amount of Ti released was decreased in the order of Ti/TiN, TiN and Ti coated alloys. We conclude that coating Ti/TiN on Ti-6Al-4V is the most effective to improve of corrosion resistance of Ti-6Al-4V alloys with lower corrosion resistance to some extent by using Ti/TiN multilayer EB-PVD coating method.

The Grapes of Wrath는 사진, 은행 그리고 트랙터에 밀려난 실향농민 Okies로 대표하는 Joad 일가를 중심으로 그들이 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 캘리포니아를 찾아가 그곳에서 겪는 고난의 과정을 그리고 있다. 그러나 단순한 이주의 과정이나 허황된 꿈을 끝없이 추구하는 인간들의 이야기가 아니라, 인고의 생명력 넘치는 투쟁과 갖은 역경을 극복하고 승리를 쟁취하는 무한한 인간의 의지를 나타내는 이야기이다. 비록 그들의 "약속된 땅"이 "젖과 꿀이 전혀 흐르지 않는 땅" 으로 판명되고 풍성한 포도는 "분노의 포도"로 화하고 말았지만, 그들은 거북의 끈질긴 생명력을 가지고 꿋꿋이 살아간다. 그들은 "쫓겨났건 달아났건 그 결과가 똑같은 도피자들" 이 아니다. 그들은 꿈과 낙원을 찾아나선 "추구자들" 이다. Steinbeck은 이 소설에서 가난한 생활과 관련된 비참한 사건들을 "미학적으로 용해시켜 심오한 예술작품" 으로 빚어냈다. 그는 1930년대 미국의 대공황기의 참상을 역사와 관련시켜 조명하고 있으며 Jim Casy를 통해서 삶의 확고한 철학을 역설하고 있다. 다만 사건이나 인물들이 사실성을 넘어 다소 과장되게 그려져 있어 이 작품을 감상하는 데는 객관성이 다소 요구된다. David Daiches도 "미적 거리를 유지하는 독자라면 이 소설을 예술작품으로 평가하지 않을 수 없다" 고 언급하고 있다.

직류측 병렬연계 시스템 적용을 위한 양방향 컨버터의 특성 해석

This paper describes DC side parallel joint system using bidirectional PWM converter. In the conventional DC side paralleled joint system the diode rectifiers have been used as AC-DC converter. These make the problems of low PF and plentiful harmonics with DC side filer and decrease the efficiency of solar cell. The bidirectional PWM converter is considered as the remedy for these problems. The proposed system is composed of the step-up chopper, the solar cell and the bidirectional PWM converter. The solar cell is connected to the de link of the converter through the step-up chopper which have a function of maximum power point tracker. The PWM converter has the function of current control and voltage regulator. The two-level PWM hysteresis method is used for the current control and P-I controller for the voltage regulator. Also both simulation results and experimental results are shown for verification and comparison.

Delta modulation technique for current-type active power filter is proposed which can not only eliminate the harmonic current but compensate the reactive power at the AC sides where the nonlinear loads are connected. The delta modulated current control can be used to improve both the response and the control capability of the injected compensating current for the active filter with constant current source. As a result the compensated ac line current becomes nearly sinusoidal and also the input power factor is improved roughly to unity.

A design of survey form is studied for the investigations of technical aspects and/or social effects caused by harmonics on the electric power system of Korea. The survey form is aimed to have the function of investigation for the current status of harmonics problems on the power system, as well as the function of giving further understanding of the problems to the field engineers and customers in related sphere. The proposed survey form will give some contribution to build up nation-wide countermeasures to the harmonics problems.

능동전력필터를 위한 새로운 전류제어 델타변조방식에 관한 연구

Advances of Power Electronics in industrial domains lead to continuous increase of harmonics on net-works. To solve these problems, Active Power Filtering(A.P.F.) concept has been developed for several years. This paper describes an A.P.F. comprising Current Source Inverter (CSI) by Current-Controlled Delta-Modulation Technique. This Concept is applied to a new current source Sigma-Delta Modulation(SDM) inverter for A.P.F. As associating this concept with current source inverter(CSI) APF, there are several advantages. Most of all, this controller can be easily implemented and has a satisfactory compensating performance. In addition, inverter output fitter, the capacitor and inductance size are considerably reduced. The controller is implemented by analog circuit and one-chip micro-processor(TMS370C756). As the typical load which generates the harmonics, a 3-phase diode rectifier is used, The proposed scheme is investigated by digital simulation(ACSL). Also, the theoretical results is verified by analog & digital experiment.
