In the PWM converter, PLL(Phase Locked Loop) is usually used as a tool which senses the angle of input voltage. This is sensitive to nois and needs additional hardware. In this work, we propose a sensorless control scheme of PWM converter using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). EKF estimates a phase angle of input voltage from nonlinear state equation using measured phase currents. We control power factor and DC-link voltage utilizing the estimated phase angle. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed estimation algorithm through simulations.

This paper presents an approach for constructing an electro-thermal model of IGBT-devices as inverters considering variable switching frequencies and battery voltage for HEV/EV. IGBT losses depend on current, battery voltage, and switching frequency. Conventional inverter system uses a fixed switching frequency, but variable frequencies operation is needed to reduce switching losses and decrease junction temperature of IGBT. This paper develops the loss function of IGBT thermal model when switching frequencies vary. As a result, a difference between real temperature and estimated temperature of IGBT is reduced and hill holding performance of HEV/EV is improved.
Hot Firing Test of a Quadrature NEA SSD9103S1 Configuration

The NEA release mechanism is used to provide restraint and release functions with low shock for critical deployment operations on solar arrays after launch. The GK3 solar array consists of 2 wings and 6 hold down points per panel. The NEA SSD9103S1 is a part of the GK3 solar array hold-down and release mechanism. Each NEA unit is equipped with two Z-diodes which provide power to a NEA unit connected in series after actuation of the fuse wire. This paper presents the hot firing test results of a quadrature NEA SSD9103S1 configuration. One output powers a maximum of 4 NEA SSD9103S1 units simultaneously. The necessary actuation pulse duration has been determined to meet margin requirement for thermal energy of minimum 4. Actuation thermal energy difference is about 6.6% between each half of two fired serial NEAs. Thermal energy margin at worst case is minimum 5.9 in case of an actuation pulse duration of 500 ms. Two series Zener impedance depend on current applied has been characterized by an additional actuation after all fuse wires are open circuit. Total number of actuation commands to the GK3 NEA unit reduce drastically from 24 in case of single NEA configuration down to 8 in case of parallel and quadrature NEA configurations. It can be accommodated by the existing HP2U Pyro design without any impact.

A charging efficiency of Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) is related to on-board charger(OBC) efficiency, Low voltage DC-DC converter(LDC) efficiency, amount of vehicle 12V electric component load and AC input voltage. This paper suggests a optimal charging strategy of PEVs by analyzing the quantitative impact of OBC / LDC / Electric component load / AC input power.

This paper proposes a hill climbing performance improvement logic for traction motor of electric vehicle, through newly developed current circulation logic and a extended equivalent torque line current map. By changing the biggest current flowing switching element to the other switching element, the biggest heat generating switching element can be changed to the other switching element. Based on extended torque line current reference map instead of the usual MTPA current reference map this paper suggest the current circulation logic. With, proposed control scheme the actual output time of constant toque is increased more than 30% of conventional one and we can achieve high driving performance without additional hardware.

This paper presents the results and the main lessons learnt from Phase V of BEMUSE, an international programme promoted by the Working Group on Accident Management and Analysis (GAMA) of OECD to address the issue of the capabilities of best-estimate computational tools and uncertainty analysis. The scope of Phase V is the uncertainty analysis of a Large Break Loss-Of-Coolant-Accident (LBLOCA) in a Pressurized Water Reactor. Fourteen participants from twelve organizations and ten countries participated in the Phase V of BEMUSE. The paper starts with a general description of the BEMUSE programme including the objectives, structure, and the outline of the Phase V specification. Then it summarizes some general aspects on the uncertain model parameters and the results for the uncertainty analysis and for the sensitivity evaluation. To end with, general recommendations and conclusions are presented as practical guidance for uncertainty analysis performance.

This paper describes design procedure of DC-LINK film capacitor for inverter in HEV. To improve reliability of film capacitor, pattern metalized film used as a dielectric and an electrode is adopted. The proposed film capacitor is designed to have high reliability in optimal size and operation range.
