IPMC(Ionic Polymer-Metal Comosite) exhibits large deformation, having great attention in many application fields. It generates bending moment by ion exchange polymer film. It can be quickly bended by the applied voltage across the plated electrode of the polymer film. In the present paper, we derive the theoretical modeling and dynamic analysis of bending motions of IPMC actuators using the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The theoretical model of a cantilever IPMC actuator estimates the moment produced by the applied voltage. The dynamic characteristics, including natural frequencies and frequency response, are calculated by the theoretical model, and they are compared with the experimental results and finite element analysis. It is shown that the mathematical modeling allows precise estimation to the voltage-driven motion of the cantilever IPMC in air.

A charging efficiency of Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) is related to on-board charger(OBC) efficiency, Low voltage DC-DC converter(LDC) efficiency, amount of vehicle 12V electric component load and AC input voltage. This paper suggests a optimal charging strategy of PEVs by analyzing the quantitative impact of OBC / LDC / Electric component load / AC input power.

This paper proposes an optimization of output power stage for DC-DC converter. Firstly, to remove the current sensor of output power stage components, an output current estimation method using output voltage of current transformer is suggested. Secondly, a multi-layer ceramic capacitor is developed and adopted as an output filter instead of a film capacitor. It achieves high performance such as output voltage ripple. With this optimization of the output stage of DC-DC converter, the cost is lower and the size is smaller.

This work proposes a high efficiency DC-DC converter for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV's). A conventional vehicle adopts an alternator connected to a combustion engine mechanically for supplying 12V electrical loads such as lights and charging a 12V battery. Whereas, a HEV utilizes a DC-DC converter instead of an alternator. The DC-DC converter converters a high voltage power in a main battery(Ni-MH) to a 12V power unidirectionally. It enables to supply 12V electric power even under the case that an engine stops when a vehicle is idle state, namely, the idle stop mode, and improve fuel efficiency by using a surplus energy regenerated in braking instances. This work develops a high efficiency DC-DC converter by optimizing an electric power circuit, parameters and a control circuit.

본 논문은 상용화된 와이어 본딩용 초음파 혼 시스템에서 발생하는 와이어 본딩 불량의 원인을 진동해석을 통하여 파악하고자 한다. 먼저 링 형상의 압전 구동기와 초음파 혼 그리고 캐필러리 등 각 부품의 진동 특성과 136kH의 가진 주파수 근처에서 발생하는 전체 초음파 혼 시스템의 주요 진동 모드들을 유한요소해석을 이용하여 구하였다. 136kHz에서 공진되는 전체 트랜스듀서 시스템의 진동 모드가 종진동 모드가 아닌 굽힘 진동 모드임을 조화 가진 해석과 실험으로 확인하였다. 136kHz에서 발생하는 굽힘 진동 모드는 캐필러리 끝단의 움직임이 종방향 뿐만 아니라 좌우 횡방향으로도 큰 변위가 발생하기 때문에 정밀 작업 시 본딩 불량의 원인이 될 수 있다. 가진 주파수 대역 근처인 119kHz에서 발생하는 종진동 모드는 캐필러리의 횡방향 진동이 감소하기 때문에 본딩 성능의 향상을 위해서 이러한 종진동 모드를 이용하도록 설계 변경이 필요함을 제시하였다. This study investigates the vibration characteristics of a wire-bonding piezoelectric transducer and ultrasonic horn for high-speed and precise welding. A ring-type piezoelectric stack actuator is excited at 136 kHz to vibrate a conical-type horn and capillary system. The nodal lines and amplification ratio of the ultrasonic horn are obtained using a theoretical analysis and FEM simulation. The vibration modes and frequencies close to the driving frequency are identified to evaluate the bonding performance of the current wire-bonder system. The FEM and experimental results show that the current wire-bonder system uses the bending mode of 136 kHz as the principal motion for bonding and that the transverse vibration of the capillary causes the bonding failure. Because the major longitudinal mode exists at 119 kHz, it is recommended that the design of the current wire-bonding system be modified to use the major longitudinal mode at the excitation frequency and to minimize the transverse vibration of capillary in order to improve the bonding performance.

This paper describes design procedure of DC-LINK film capacitor for inverter in HEV. To improve reliability of film capacitor, pattern metalized film used as a dielectric and an electrode is adopted. The proposed film capacitor is designed to have high reliability in optimal size and operation range.
