<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The heterocyclic compounds have been extensively reported for their bioactivity potential. The current research work reports the synthesis of some new multi-functional derivatives of 2-furoic piperazide (<B>1</B>; 1-(2-furoyl)piperazine). The synthesis was initiated by reacting the starting compound <B>1</B> with 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzenesulfonyl chloride (<B>2</B>) in a basic, polar and protic medium to obtain the parent sulfonamide <B>3</B> which was then treated with different electrophiles, <B>4a–g</B>, in a polar and aprotic medium to acquire the designed molecules, <B>5a</B>–<B>g</B>. These convergent derivatives were evaluated for their inhibitory potential against <I>α</I>-glucosidase, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymes. Acarbose was used as a reference standard for <I>α</I>-glucosidase inhibition while eserine for AChE and BChE inhibition. Some of the synthesized compounds were identified as promising inhibitors of these three enzymes and their bioactivity potentials were also supported by molecular docking study. The most active compounds among the synthetic analogues might be helpful in drug discovery and development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and Alzhiemer’s diseases.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Synthesis of multi-functional 2-furoic piperazide derivatives. </LI> <LI> Enzyme inhibitory studies against different enzymes. </LI> <LI> Computational studies to augment the <I>in vitro</I> results. </LI> <LI> Suitable therapeutic agents for type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. </LI> <LI> Mild hemolytic agents toward red blood cell membrane. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P>Arsenic (As) contamination of groundwater reservoirs is a global environmental and health issue given to its toxic and carcinogenic nature. Over 170 million people have been affected by As due to the ingestion of As-contaminated groundwater. Conventional methods such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and electrodialysis are commonly used for the remediation of As-contaminated water; however, the high cost and sludge production put limitations on their application to remove As from water. This review critically addresses the use of various agricultural waste materials (e.g., sugarcane bagasse, peels of various fruits, wheat straw) as biosorbents, thereby offering an eco-friendly and low-cost solution for the removal of As from contaminated water supplies. The effect of solution chemistry such as solution pH, cations, anions, organic ligands, and various other factors (e.g., temperature, contact time, sorbent dose) on As biosorption, and safe disposal methods for As-loaded biosorbents to reduce secondary As contamination are also discussed.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The increasing resistance of pathogens to common antibiotics, as well as the need to control urease activity to improve the yield of soil nitrogen fertilization in agricultural applications, has stimulated the development of novel classes of molecules that target urease as an enzyme. In this context, the newly developed compounds on the basis of 1-heptanoyl-3-arylthiourea family were evaluated for Jack bean urease enzyme inhibition activity to validate their role as potent inhibitors of this enzyme. 1-Heptanoyl-3-arylthioureas were obtained in excellent yield and characterized through spectral and elemental analysis. All the compounds displayed remarkable potency against urease inhibition as compared to thiourea standard. It was found that novel compounds fulfill the criteria of drug-likeness by obeying Lipinski’s rule of five. Particularly compound <B>4a</B> and <B>4c</B> can serve as lead molecules in 4D (drug designing discovery and development). Kinetic mechanism and molecular docking studies also carried out to delineate the mode of inhibition and binding affinity of the molecules.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A new family of 1-heptanoyl-3-arylthioureas (<B>4a-4j</B>) was synthesized in excellent yield. </LI> <LI> The synthesized 1-heptanoyl-3-arylthiourea family were evaluated for Jack bean urease enzyme inhibition activity. </LI> <LI> Particularly compound <B>4a</B> and <B>4c</B> can serve as lead molecules in 4D (drug designing discovery and development). </LI> <LI> Kinetic mechanism and molecular docking studies also carried out to delineate the mode of inhibition and binding affinity. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Numerous articles under the study and the examination of heavy metals in human teeth have been published in recent years. The heavy metal poisoning is a widespread issue emerged in toxicology area these days. It has been discovered that long-term exposure to heavy metals typically present in traces, in our everyday meals, drinking water, and in the environment as pollution causes heavy metal poisoning in human beings. Industrial effluents, Coal and Oil, as well as a variety of consumer items, such as cosmetics, can all cause this type of exposure. Teeth, which are often thought of as exoskeleton parts, store heavy metals with a high affinity and represent long-term exposure information. In this study, we have chosen and examined the sections of dentine instead, then examined the entire tooth. We have combined the work done on the examination of heavy metals in human teeth using several instrumental approaches e.g. "Optical Spectroscopic Techniques" to detect elemental profile of human teeth in the current study.

Salt-affected soils are present in Pakistan in significant quantity. This experiment was conducted to assess the effectiveness of compost for reclamation and compare its efficiency with gypsum. For this purpose, various combinations of compost and gypsum were used to evaluate their efficacy for reclamation. A saline-sodic field having pHs 8.90, ECe 5.94 dS m^–1 and SAR 34.5 (mmol L^–1)^1/2, SP (saturation percentage)42.29% and texture Sandy clay loam, gypsum requirement (GR) 8.75 Mg ha^–1 was selected for this study. The experiment comprised of seven treatments (control, gypsum alone, compost alone and different combinations of compost and gypsum based on soil gypsum requirements). Inorganic and organic amendments (gypsum and compost) were applied to a saline sodic soil. Rice and wheat crops were grown. Soil samples were collected from each treatment after the harvest of both crops and analyzed for chemical properties (electrical conductivity, soil reaction and sodium adsorption ratio) and fertility status (organic matter, available phosphorus and potassium contents) of soil. Results of this study revealed that compost and gypsum improved chemical properties (electrical conductivity, soil reaction and sodium adsorption ratio) of saline sodic soil to the desired levels. Similarly, all parameters of soil fertility like organic matter, available phosphorus and potassium contents were built up with the application of compost and gypsum.
Wide Speed-range Operation of a Dual-mode Wound Field Synchronous Machine
Muhammad Ayub,Qasim Ali,Ghulam Jawad Sirewal,Byung-il Kwon 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5
This paper proposes a dual-mode wound field synchronous machine (WFSM) topology for wide speed operation. The machine stator has two winding, winding ABC-1 and ABC-2, and the current to each winding is supplied by a separate inverter. Contrary to the disadvantages in conventional brushed and brushless WFSM topologies, the proposed topology combines the advantage of achieving constant torque region by brushed operation in mode-I, and advantage of brushless in constant power region in mode-II. In mode-II, the difference in the two inverter currents creates an additional sub-harmonic magnetomotiveforce (MMF). The additional sub-harmonic is utilized for brushless operation. The advantages of the proposed topology are, constant torque region, brushless operation in constant power region, and robust rotor structure as the machine operates brushless though out constant power region. The wide speed operation is achieved by negative-daxis control along with the special inverter-current magnitude variation. A 2-D finite-element analysis is performed, and the proposed topology is analyzed.

Pheromone trapping was used to monitor populations of the moth Helicoverpa armigera at five cotton-based agro-ecological sites –- river, vegetable, orchard, forest and clean cultivation (areas under only cotton cultivation) –- in the Bahawalpur district, Pakistan. Three locations at each site were chosen and three pheromone traps at each location were installed in cotton fields. Moth catches were recorded at 15–-20 day intervals from 24 October 2004 to 19 December 2006. In 2004, the river sites showed the maximum trapped population of H. armigera (0.22/trap) followed by 0.165 per trap at the vegetable sites. Orchard, clean cultivation and forest sites had zero moth catches. In 2005, the river sites again showed the highest trapped population (0.57/trap), followed by clean cultivation (0.45/trap), vegetable (0.44/trap), orchard (0.40/trap) and forest (0.29/trap). The moths appeared during July to December and March to May. In 2006, sites showed non-significant difference, with a population range of 0.47 to 0.97 moths per trap. On average, river sites peaked at 0.49 per trap, followed by vegetable (0.38), clean cultivation (0.47), orchard (0.35) and forest (0.25) sites. The peak was observed on 3 April 2006, and moths appeared during February to July and October to December. The minimum temperature in river, forest and clean cultivation sites; the maximum temperature in orchard sites; and the average temperature in river, orchard, forest and clean cultivation sites showed significant positive correlations with trapped moth populations. Relative humidity showed significant negative correlation with population at the orchard sites in 2005. All weather factors during 2004 and 2006 showed non-significant correlations with the moth populations. No model was found to be best fit by multiple linear regression analysis; however, relative humidity, minimum temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature and maximum temperature contributed 8.40, 10.23, 2.43, 4.53 and 2.53% to the population fluctuation of the moth at river, vegetable, orchard, forest and clean cultivation sites, respectively.

Ali, Muhammad Aamir,Abbas, Mujahid,Sehar, Mubarra,Murtaza, Ghulam The Kangwon-Kyungki Mathematical Society 2021 한국수학논문집 Vol.29 No.1
In this research, we offer two new quantum integral equalities for recently defined qε2-integral and derivative, the derived equalities then used to prove quantum integral inequalities of Simpson's and Newton's type for preinvex functions. We also considered the special cases of established results and offer several new and existing results inside the literature of Simpson's and Newton's type inequalities.
