Abstract

Forty-eight samples made of CaF2, LiF and YVO4 were placed inside the KSTAR Tokamak and irradiated by neutrons and charged particles from eight plasma pulses. The aim was to provide information for plasma diagnostics. Due to the short pulse durations, the activities induced in the samples were low and therefore measurements were performed in five low-background underground laboratories. Details of the underground measurements, together with data on the quality control amongst the radiometric laboratories, are presented.

Highlights

First activation probe experiment was conducted at KSTAR Tokamak.

The activated samples were measured with low level gamma-ray spectrometry.

Five CELLAR underground laboratories participated in the measurement campaign.

The metrological aspects and the comparability of the measurements are discussed.

The final aim is to determine the neutrons and charged particles fluxes at KSTAR.

Determination the efficiency of open mixing screws
Attila Varga,Istvan Keppler,Laszlo Fenyvesi 대한기계학회 2020 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.34 No.6
Our goal is the determination of the material flow processes around the mixing screws and introducing a new mixing index which can characterize the performance of open mixing screws. The validation of the new discrete element model is demonstrated by experimental results of our self-developed apparatus. To quantify the mixing efficiency of open mixing screws we use the value of mixed volume around the screws. Sensitivity analysis is used to analyze how the different values of leaf diameter, pitch and angular velocity affect the mixed volume.

This case study introduces the integration of Mathematics and Arts within a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) project, focusing on the exploration of human body proportions and body-image perceptions. Through a project-based learning approach, a team of Swedish teachers collaboratively designed and implemented a curriculum that not only illustrates the Maths-Art relationship but also addresses the broader social and cultural implications of body image. This paper outlines the project's methodology, emphasising hands-on activities, critical thinking, and transformative learning experiences that connect real-life and artistic perspectives. By engaging students in a comprehensive exploration of body-image through historical, cultural, and mathematical lenses, the project aimed to foster a healthier understanding of body diversity. The transdisciplinary approach adopted by the teachers at Tångvalla School in Sweden serves as a model for integrating STEAM education in addressing contemporary educational and societal challenges.
