A metallocene copolymer of isotactic propene and 1-pentene was subjected to different crystallization conditions with 13 mol% of 1-pentene counits, aiming to enhance the formation of a new trigonal modification of iPP. Since it was not possible to obtain a diffractogram for the amorphous sample of cPPe13 at room temperature, the X-ray crystallinity was determined using the profile of the molten polymer, extrapolated to room temperature according to the resulting temperature coefficients. The X-ray diffraction results indicate a very interesting polymorphism in this copolymer; when crystallized from solution, amazingly high degrees of crystallinity - as high as 65%- are obtained, and this value is similar to those obtained for the iPP homopolymer. Further, the enthalpy of melting for a 100% crystalline sample of the trigonal modification was estimated from those crystallinities and the actual enthalpies of melting.
The Historical Jesus in the Context of Latin American Liberation Theology
Ernesto Valiente(에르네스토 발리엔테) 신학과사상학회 2019 가톨릭 신학과 사상 Vol.- No.82
This article enlists an historical and thematic approach to examine the Christology that has emerged from Latin American liberation theology. It focuses on the central role this theology’s context and historical dimensions have played in a renewed understanding of Christ’s identity and mission. The essay unfolds over three main sections. It first provides a brief overview of the Christological legacy left by the European conquest and colonial Christianity. This will help us under-stand why liberation theology understands itself as necessary correct-ive for a distorted Christological legacy. The second section examines the key methodological issues that undergird a liberationist approach of Christology - that is, the historical Jesus and a preferential option for the poor. The paper concludes by examining the main Christological themes that characterize Latin American liberationist Christology.
Elastic-plastic formulation for concrete encased sections interaction diagram tracing
Ernesto Fenollosa,Enrique Gil,Ivan Cabrera,Jose Vercher 국제구조공학회 2015 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.19 No.4
Composite sections design consists on checking that the point defined by axial load and bending moment keeps included within the surface enclosed by the section interaction curve. Eurocode 4 suggests a method for tracing this diagram based on the plastic stress distribution method. However curves obtained according to this criterion overvalue concrete encased sections bearing capacity, especially when axial force comes with high bending moment values, so a correction factor is required. This article proposes a method for tracing this diagram based on the strain compatibility method. When stresses on the section are integrated by considering the Navier hypothesis, the use of the materials nonlinear constitutive equations provides curves much more adjusted to reality. This process requires the use of rather complex software which might reveal as too complex for practitioners. Preserving the same criteria of an elastic-plastic stress distribution, this article presents alternative expressions to obtain the failure internal forces in five significant points of the interaction diagram having considered five different positions of the neutral axis. These expressions are simply enough for their practical application. Concordance of curves traced strictly relying on these five points with those obtained by computer assisted stress integration considering the strain compatibility method and even with Eurocode 4 weighted curves will be presented for three different cross-sections and two different concrete strengths, revealing very good results.
Adaptive Wireless Network Coding for Infrastructure Wireless Mesh Networks
( Ernesto Carrillo ),( Victor Ramos ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.7
IEEE 802.11s-based infrastructure Wireless Mesh Networks (iWMNs) are envisaged as a promising solution to provide ubiquitous wireless Internet access. The limited network capacity is a problem mainly caused by the medium contention between mesh users and the mesh access points (MAPs), which gets worst when the mesh clients employ the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). To mitigate this problem, we use wireless network coding (WNC) in the MAPs. The aim of this proposal is to take advantage of the network topology around the MAPs, to alleviate the contention and maximize the use of the network capacity. We evaluate WNC when is used in MAPs. We model the formation of coding opportunities and, using computer simulations, we evaluate the formation of such coding opportunities. The results show that as the users density grows, the coding opportunities increase up to 70%; however, at the same time, the coding delay increments significantly. In order to reduce such delay, we propose to adaptively adjust the time that a packet can wait to catch a coding opportunity in an MAP. We assess the performance of moving-average estimation methods to forecast this adaptive sojourn time. We show that using moving-average estimation methods can significantly decrease the coding delay since they consider the traffic density conditions.
Publish/Subscribe Protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks: Improved Reliability and Timeliness
( Ernesto Garcia Davis ),( Anna Calveras Auge ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.4
The rapidly-evolving demand of applications using wireless sensor networks in several areas such as building and industrial automation or smart cities, among other, makes it necessary to determine and provide QoS support mechanisms which can satisfy the requirements of applications. In this paper we propose a mechanism that establishes different QoS levels, based on Publish/Subscribe model for wireless networks to meet application requirements, to provide reliable delivery of packet and timeliness. The first level delivers packets in a best effort way. The second one intends to provide reliable packet delivery with a novel approach for Retransmission Timeout (RTO) calculation, which adjusts the RTO depending on the subscriber Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR). The third one provides the same reliable packet delivery as the second one, but in addition, it provides data aggregation trying to be efficient in terms of energy consumption and the use of network bandwidth. The last one provides timeliness in the packet delivery. We evaluate each QoS Level with several performance metrics such as PDR, Message Delivery Ratio, Duplicated and Retransmitted Packet Ratio and Packet Timeliness Ratio to demonstrate that our proposal provides significant improvements based on the increase of the PDR obtained.

BRCA gene mutations are found in up to 10% of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cases. We present a description of 4 cases along with a review of the current literature regarding pathogenesis, target treatment, response and survival rates in these types of malignancies. We describe four cases of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, in three of which the BRCA2 mutation was identified, in one - BRCA1 gene alteration. Two patients underwent surgery following the neoadjuvant treatment with Folfirinox and radiotherapy; in the first case, a distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy was performed and in the second one - the Whipple’s procedure. In both cases, a complete pathological response was reported. Other 2 patients were treated with Folfirinox after BRCA mutation identification and acceptable life expectancy was obtained. The association of pathologic complete response (PCR) with lower rates of local recurrence and better survival in patients with various types of adenocarcinomas is well known. Identification of such patients carrying BRCA mutations could provide an application of better personalized treatment. In some patients with pancreatic cancer, especially when there is clinical or demographic reason to suspect a genetic predisposition, a confirmation of the presence of BRCA mutations could provide an opportunity to use target treatment with beneficial outcomes regarding survival.
