Biotechnology and the Parasitic Protozoa
Dusanic,Donald G. INSTITUTE OF TROPICAL MEDICINE YONSEI UNIVERSITY 1989 YONSEI REPORTS ON TROPICAL MEDICINE Vol.20 No.1
Recent applications of biotechnology to research on parasitic protozoa are providing insights into the mechanisms of parasite development and antigenicity. They may lead to the development of vaccines and sensitive and specific diagnostics. Heat shock proteins, the polymerase chain reaction, and serological procedures employing Fabs of antibodies may find applications to the protozoan parasites.
An Overview of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology
Dusanic,Donald G. INSTITUTE OF TROPICAL MEDICINE YONSEI UNIVERSITY 1989 YONSEI REPORTS ON TROPICAL MEDICINE Vol.20 No.1
Nucleic acids and protein synthesis are briefly reviewed as a basis for a discussion of the concepts and applications of cellular and molecular genetics. Procedures of recombinant DNA and hybridoma technologies are described in more detail because of their importance to research un parasites and the biotechnology industry.
ISG15: leading a double life as a secreted molecule
Dusan Bogunovic,Ste´phanie Boisson-Dupuis,Jean-Laurent Casanova 생화학분자생물학회 2013 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.45 No.4
ISG15 is a well-known intracellular ubiquitin-like molecule involved in ISGylation. However, a recent study has revived the notion first put forward two decades ago that ISG15 is also a secreted molecule. Human neutrophils, monocytes and lymphocytes can release ISG15, even though this protein has no detectable signal peptide sequence. ISG15 has also been found in the secretory granules of granulocytes. The mechanism underlying ISG15 secretion is unknown. Secreted ISG15 acts on at least T and natural killer (NK) lymphocytes, in which it induces interferon (IFN)-c production. However, the mechanism by which ISG15 stimulates these cells also remains unclear. ISG15 and IFN-c seem to define an innate circuit that operates preferentially, but not exclusively, between granulocytes and NK cells. Inherited ISG15 deficiency is associated with severe mycobacterial disease in both mice and humans. This infectious phenotype probably results from the lack of secreted ISG15,because patients and mice with other inborn errors of IFN-c immunity also display mycobacterial diseases. In addition to raising mechanistic issues, the studies described here pave the way for clinical studies of various aspects, ranging from the use of recombinant ISG15 in patients with infectious diseases to the use of ISG15-blocking agents in patients with inflammatory diseases.
The Effect of Population-Level Learning on Entry Likelihood in the Mobile Game Industry
Dusan Seong,김상순 한국마케팅학회 2020 ASIA MARKETING JOURNAL Vol.21 No.4
Population-level learning has traditionally been used to provide an explanation for the underlying mechanism of industry change. But it has yet to examine the impact on strategic decisions such as market entry. This conceptual paper aims to provide an insight into how population-level learning affects entry likelihood by acting as a tool for interpreting population-level changes. We study this in the context of the fast-paced mobile gaming industry where population-level information is salient and develop a set of propositions with regard to the likelihood of entry.

Because of the properties of software such as invisibility, complexity, and changeability, software configuration management (SCM) for software artifacts generated during software life-cycle has been used for guarantee of the quality of the software. However, the existing SCM system has only focused on code artifacts and software development document artifacts such as Software Requirements Specification (SRS), Software Design Description (SDD), and Software Test Description (STD). Moreover, software research-oriented project comes out late the code artifacts and the software development document artifacts. Therefore, there is a need for trace and management of software research document artifacts composed of highly abstracted non-functional requirements like `the purpose of the project`, `the objectives`, and `the progress` before generation of the code artifacts and the software development document artifacts for a long time. Nevertheless, the existing SCM system cannot trace and manage them. In this paper, we propose content-based configuration management system comprised of the relevance link generation phase and content-based testing phase to trace and manage them. The preliminary application results show applicability and feasibility of the proposed system.
The Free Flow of Excellence Toward the Field-Being Approach to TQM
Pavlovic, Dusan The Korean Society for Quality Management 2005 The Asian Journal on Quality Vol.6 No.2
The concept of Total Quality Management may be perceived from different philosophical perspectives. In this paper we shall present a view on TQM from the perspective of Field-Being philosophy and compare it with the alternative philosophical views. From the perspective of Field-Being philosophy, the goal of TQM is to achieve the free flow of excellence at all levels: individual, team and organizational. By overcoming rigidity in thinking, behavior and performance TQM turns into an art-the Art of Quality Management, which is the source of true stakeholder delight.
