Purpose: Each emergency event has several aspects of impact, including the effects on lives, economy, and the environment. Additionally, the damage to infrastructure systems can contribute to food shortages during a disaster. Research design, data and methodology: This research aims to study ready-to-eat food innovations that influence the consumer buying behavior of emergency victims and to develop ready-to-eat meal innovations to help emergency victims with an emphasis on research and innovation of Meals Ready-to-Eat (MREs). Results: A questionnaire was employed to collect the data from people living in Pak Kret Municipality, Nonthaburi Province. Pak Kret Municipality is administered under five subdistricts, covering 34 villages in Pak Kret, Bang Phut, Ban Mai, Bang Talat, and Khlong Kluea. Multiple correlation and multiple regression techniques were used to analyze the data. The study revealed that integrated marketing communication, unique proposition, customer orientation, and product variety influenced consumer buying behavior of MREs to help emergency victims at a statistically significance level of 0.05. Conclusions: The results indicate that, in emergency situations, MREs play a crucial role. When infrastructure and essential services are disrupted, MREs are a convenient and long-lasting option for providing timely assistance during emergencies.

The As accumulation in part of roots, shoots, husks and grains of rice plants was significantly decreased with the increasing dosage of kaolin addition from 0.5% to 10% w/w. Kaolin addition could reduce As accumulation in rice plants, which mainly could be attributed to the formation of stable crystalline Al oxides bound As that decreased the available As in soil with decreased As accumulation in rice plants. The pH values of the soils did not change significantly when amended with kaolin. The pH values of the soils was neural that proper to adsorb of arsenic with Al₂O₃. Arsenic tends to adsorb with Al₂O₃ at acid neutral pH and with desorbing at alkaline pH. The dry weight of rice plant was significantly increased with the increasing dosage of kaolin addition from 2.5% to 10% w/w. The highest dry weight of rice plants was 6.67 g/pot achieved at kaolin addition of 10% w/w with about 13% increasing over the control, which was probably attributed to the highest As concentration formation with kaolin at this dosage. The results of this study indicated that kaolin has the potential to reduce As accumulation in rice plants and enhance the dry weight of rice plants.

2008년부터 2011년까지 태국 카셋사트대학교 수의학부의 카셋사트 대학 맹금류 구조팀(KURU)에 의해 보호를 받은 111개체의 맹금류에 대한 후향적 연구를 실시하였다. 해당 기간 중 매목(73개체)과 올빼미목(38개체)에 속하는 총 27종이 접수되었다. 사고 및 사망 원인은 부상(38.74%), 미아(19.82%), 굶주림(17.12%), 감염성 질병(13.51%), 대사성 골 질환(4.50%) 및 기타(6.31%) 등 이었다. 처치 후 40.54%가 야생으로 방사되었으며, 29.73%는 사망, 19.82%는 보호 중이며, 9.91%는 계류사에 보호 중에 있다. 구조팀에 접수된 맹금류에게 외상이 가장 주요한 사고 및 사망 원인인 것으로 보인다. A retrospective study on 111 raptors received rehabilitation from 2008 to 2011 was conducted at Kasetsart University Raptor Rehabilitation Unit (KURU), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University in Thailand. Twenty-seven species in Falconiformes (73 individuals) and Strigiformes (38 individuals) were admitted. The identified causes of morbidity and mortality were trauma (38.74%), orphaned young (19.82%), starvation (17.12%), infectious diseases (13.51%), metabolic bone diseases (4.50%) and others (6.31%). After treatment, 40.54% of the raptors were recovered and able for release back to the wild, 29.73% deceased, 19.82% are being rehabed (as of Jan 2012), 9.91% were kept in captivity due to injury/disease-related permanent disabilities. Trauma appears to be the predominant cause of morbidity and mortality for rehabilitated raptors in the unit.
Staircase Rectangular-Slot Antenna with Fed Square Patch for WiMAX Applications

A low cost, compact size staircase rectangular-slot antenna fed by a square patch is presented in this paper.This antenna has broad bandwidth between 2.5 - 5.0 GHz, low loss, and omnidirectional radiation pattern. The structureof this antenna is similar to the conventional rectangular-slot antenna but the staircases are added to the border of therectangular-slot to increase its bandwidth performance. In addition, the square patch is fed inside the slot to improve its return loss. The propose antenna was implemented and measured for verification. Simulation and experimentationresults show good agreement in impedance bandwidth, return loss, and radiation patterns.
Facile conversion of ATP-binding RNA aptamer to quencher-free molecular aptamer beacon

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We have developed RNA-based quencher-free molecular aptamer beacons (RNA-based QF-MABs) for the detection of ATP, taking advantage of the conformational changes associated with ATP binding to the ATP-binding RNA aptamer. The RNA aptamer, with its well-defined structure, was readily converted to the fluorescence sensors by incorporating a fluorophore into the loop region of the hairpin structure. These RNA-based QF-MABs exhibited fluorescence signals in the presence of ATP relative to their low background signals in the absence of ATP. The fluorescence emission intensity increased upon formation of a RNA-based QF-MAB·ATP complex.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
