A correlation for heat of vaporization of pure compounds
Dušan K. Grozdanic,Jovan D. Jovanovic 한국화학공학회 2008 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.25 No.6
Twenty-seven selected equations were tested on 162 compounds with 1958 calorimetric data for their abilities to reflect the temperature influence on the heat of vaporization of pure compounds. A new equation is recommended (overall percent deviation 0.27% and percent deviation 0.59% above 0.9Tr).
Spent fuel characterization analysis using various nuclear data libraries
Čalič Dušan,Kromar Marjan 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.9
Experience shows that the solution to waste management in any national programme is lengthy and burdened with uncertainties. There are several uncertainties that contribute to the costs associated with spent fuel management. In this work, we have analysed the impact of the current nuclear data on the isotopic composition of the spent fuel and consequently their influence on the main spent fuel observables such as decay heat, activity, neutron multiplication factor, and neutron and photon source terms. Nuclear libraries based on the most general nuclear data ENDF/B-VII.0, ENDF/B-VII.1, ENDF/B-VIII.0 and JEFF-3.3 are considered. A typical NPP Krsko fuel assembly is analysed using the Monte Carlo code Serpent 2. The analysis considers burnup of up to 60 GWd/tU and cooling times of up to 100 years. The comparison of results showed significant differences, which should be taken into account when selecting the library and evaluating the uncertainty in determining the characteristics of the spent fuel
Measurement of nuclear fuel assembly’s bow from visual inspection’s video record
Plašienka Dušan,Knotek Jaroslav,Kopeć Marcin,Malá Martina,Blažek Jan 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.4
The bow of the nuclear fuel assembly is a well-known phenomenon. One of the vital criteria during the history of nuclear fuel development has been fuel assembly’s mechanical stability. Once present, the fuel assembly bow can lead to safety issues like excessive water gap and power redistribution or even incomplete rod insertion (IRI). The extensive bow can result in assembly handling and loading problems. This is why the fuel assembly’s bow is one of the most often controlled geometrical factors during periodic fuel inspections for VVER when compared e.g. to on-site fuel rod gap measurements or other instrumental measurements performed on-site. Our proposed screening method uses existing video records for fuel inspection. We establish video frames normalization and aggregation for the purposes of bow measurement. The whole process is done by digital image processing algorithms which analyze rotations of video frames, extract angles whose source is the fuel set torsion, and reconstruct torsion schema. This approach provides results comparable to the commonly utilized method. We tested this new approach in real operation on 19 fuel assemblies with different campaign numbers and designs, where the average deviation from other methods was less than 2 % on average. Due to the fact, that the method has not yet been validated during full scale measurements of the fuel inspection, the preliminary results stand for that we recommend this method as a complementary part of standard bow measurement procedures to increase measurement robustness, lower time consumption and preserve or increase accuracy. After completed validation it is expected that the proposed method allows standalone fuel assembly bow measurements.

This paper presents geochemical data on sedimentary rocks from the Upper Cretaceous to Lower Eocene formations of the Pieniny Klippen Belt (Western Carpathians, Slovakia). On the basis of geochemical analyses of 15 samples, the plate tectonic setting of sediment accumulation and paleodepositional environment were reconstructed, which may help to understand a part of evolution of this orographically remarkable zone. Four main rock groups were identified within the samples studied: fine- to medium-grained sandstones, siltstones or claystones, pebbly/sandy mudstones and shales. In the Al2O3*5-SiO2-CaO*2 ternary diagram, they displayed developed sand and mud flat characteristics with light rich clay content. According to high-silica and lowsilica multi-dimensional diagrams, the investigated rocks might have originated from a continental collision tectonic setting. The Zr/Rb values (0.76–6.47) mirrored a fluctuation of hydro energy during deposition of the sediments studied. Paleoclimate indexes, such as the C-value (0.03–0.49) and Sr/Cu (3.25–202.27), revealed arid to semiarid climatic conditions during deposition of the studied sediments. In addition, the chemical data were used to constrain paleoredox conditions of the depositional environment, which proved that these sediments had been deposited mainly beneath the oxic water column with relatively low paleoproductivity, as evidenced by P/Ti with an average of 0.13 and Ba/Al with an average of 34.30.

For develope the functional cosmetic material. we extracted the Korean persimmon leaves in 80% ethanol solution and isolated fraction I, II, III, to use Sephadex LH-20 column. Their polyphenol quantity was 20%, 70%, 82.8% individually and fraction II, III had polyphenol which included a many flavan-3-ol skeleton structure. We investigated various biological activity such a tyrosinase, xanthin oxidase inhibition, SOD-like acivity and DPPH. Inhibitory effect of tyrosinase was inhibited 51.7%, 74.7% at 50 ppm, 500 ppm of the fraction III and SOD-like activity increased quickly at 500ppm of the fraction II, III. DPPH effect had 80% electron donate ability at 50 ppm all of the fraction and xanthin oxidase was more inhibited 80% at 50 ppm of fraction II, III. These results showed possibility that polyphenols of the Korean persimmon leaves become the functional cosmetic ingredient

The purpose of this study was to investigate high school Ju Do players' achievement goal orientation and mental health according to their game performance and gender, and then to offer basic data for game performance improvement and scientific player management. Subjects were randomly sampled 65 male players and 58 female players. They were divided into two groups. First was the group of elite players who have ranked at the third at least in national scale athletic matches from 2000 to 2002. Secondly, the rest of the subjects belonged to the group of common players. Two-way ANOVA and t-test were used to analyze the differences between the two groups. We obtained the following results. 1) In the case of the ego-orientational goal achievement, there was no considerable difference between the male players and the female players of JuDo. 2) In the case of the task-orientational goal achievement, the male players had higher propensity than the female players did. 3) But there was no difference between genders, between players of elite group and players of common group. 4) The analysis of players' gender showed that female players were significantly more responsive to the symptoms of somatic, interpersonal sensitivity, fear, anxiety, and so on than male players were. 5) Among male players, the elite group was much more responsive to the symptoms of compulsive, hostility, paranoia, etc than the common group was. 6) Among female players of elite group and common group, their mental health was no influenced by JuDo results.

FDM technology is among the most widely used additive manufacturing technologies. The most popular materials are ABS and PLA, but lately nylon has been used more often. The aim of the paper is to determine the impact of infill pattern and continuous fiberglass reinforcement on the tensile properties of additively manufactured composite material. The samples were made of Onyx as matrix material on a Markforged Onyx Pro printer, with and without varying fiberglass volume fraction. In addition, five different infill patterns (solid, triangular, rectangular, hexagonal and gyroid) were investigated. The experimental results revealed that infill patterns have different effects on the tensile strength and elastic behavior of the material, but the consumption of material and time should also be considered. The use of continuous fiberglass reinforcement significantly improves the tensile characteristics of the material. Proper arrangement of fibers in multiple layers can give better tensile properties of the material.

The antioxidant capacity and the phenolic content of 3 dried red currant samples from different geographical regions were studied. Three solvent systems were used (methanol, ethanol, and acetone) at the same concentrations (70%) and with 100% deionized water in presence 0.1% HCl. The antioxidant capacity of the dried fruit extracts was evaluated using DPPH radical scavenging assays. The efficiency of the solvents used to extract phenols from the 3 dried red currant samples varied considerably. The polyphenol content of the dried red currant samples was 3.26 to 12.68 mg gallic acid equivalent/g dried fruit. The high phenolic content was significantly correlated with the high antioxidant capacity. The following compounds were identified and quantified using HPLC with photodiode-array detection: 3 anthocyanins,2 flavonols, 2 flavan-3-ols, and 3 hydroxycinnamic acids in all samples. Generally, red currant fruits are a rich source of phenolics, which shows an evident antioxidant capacity.
