Objectives : Salicornia herbacea is an internal salt plant that grows in the western coast, southern coast, beaches, and salt fields in Korea peninsula. Belonging to Chenopodiaceae by a biological classification, Salicorna herbacea is not known from research except that it contains plenty of minerals. Therefore, this paper reported bioactive functions of the extract from Salicornia herbacea, and examined the possibility to develop as a new industrial materials. Methods and Results : Hot Water Extract(W.E), Ethanol Extract(E.E) and Crude Extract(C.E) were used as samples. In searching for antibacterial activity, Clear zone for Propionibacterium acnes which are causal bacteria for pimples was identified in 5,000 ppm and 10,000 ppm. E.E showed 97% Electron Donating Ability(EDA), 61% of tyrosinase inhibiton effect, respectively. C.E showed 50% of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Ⅰ (ACE) inhibition effect and 96% of xanthine oxidase inhibition in 1,000ppm, respectively. Conclusion : As the results of the experiments, it was identified that Electron Donating Ability, tyrosinase inhibition could be used for cosmetic materials, and melanoma growth inhibiting ability for the skin and ACE hindrance effect for medical materials.

Hangout programming language, written in Hangout and having syntax of Korean, can enhance readability very much for its naturalness, and is suited for Hangout data processing. But there exist several problems in implementing it due to the peculiarities of Korean such as verb position, variation of termination. This paper proposes a solution for implementing Hangeul high level language and introduces a Hangout programming language HANSFOR (Hangout Structured Fortran), implemented according to the proposed method. HANSFOR satisfies such requirements of Hangout high level language as mentioned above and can handle Korean and Chinese character data efficiently. Especially, though it is based on Fortran, it is free-formatted and provides structured programming concept to compensate for defects of original Fortran. It is successfully implemented on NEC S/100.

To remove nitrogen and carbon simultaneously from municipal wastewater, a mixture of effective microorganisms (EM) was immobilized in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel beads. The modified PVA beads with calcium alginate show characteristic pores and mechanical stability and flexibility. The EM-immobilized PVA system was established in a 3 L sequential batch reactor (SBR) with a synthetic wastewater and operated at an HRT of 12 h with COD loading rate of 0.5-2.4 g COD/L·d. In this system, intermittent aeration is more efficient than continuous aeration, and removal rates of COD and total nitrogen (T-N) were increased as the feed COD/N ratio was increased from 1.9 to 5.6. At an optimal condition, 73% of total nitrogen and 93% of COD were stably removed at a COD loading rate lower than 2.4 g COD/L·d and at 3 : 1 ratio of aerobic time to anoxic time.
