        Association between business switch or liquidation, and the demographics of Small and Medium Enterprises in South Korea

        Purpose – In this study, we consider and examine relationships between reasons for business switch or liquidation (BSL), and the demographics of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in South Korea. The related five variables are occupations, administrative districts, age of employer, firm age and foundation motivation. In addition, eleven levels in association with reasons for BSL visualize the corresponding demographics by measuring their similarity on the dimensional planes assuming that the association exists between variables under consideration. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is done by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2016 and examines 20,307 small and medium enterprises. For examining the distinct relationships among variables under consideration, both chi-squared test and correspondence analysis as main statistical tools are used. Results - The results show that among levels of reasons for BSL the three levels –weakening profitability, poor sales and economic depression- are main ones for the five demographics variables mentioned above, and we can obtain the detailed associations between attributes of corresponding variables by inspecting the two dimensional plane. Conclusions - This study suggests reasons for BSL are closely associated with the five different demographics variables – Administrative districts, Firm age, Occupations, Age of employer and Foundation motivation-by looking over results.

This conventional view of the information- processing approach sees humans as composed of separate information-processing mechanisims. The use of a second language acquisition is a cognitive skill and also involes the internalization, through practice, of various information- handling techniques to overcome capacity limitations. Skill acquisition is seen to involve the accumulation of automatic processing through initial controlled operations that require attention. Teaching and learning should lapse into drill-and-practice exercise. The information-processing approach stresses that repeated performance of the components of a task through controlled processing leads to the availability of automatized routines. There are strategies that can be taught to increase the efficiency of working-memory processes. According to expert systems framework, it has attempted to specify strategies that good language learners use and to reach them to less expert learners. Also this study attempted to expand and refine the repertoire of strategies of poor learners so that they may benefit from strategies used to good effect by expert learners. Certainly, working memory processes and acquired strategies are important sources of individual difference in L2 learning. Conclusively, there are various metacognitive strategies that increase the efficiency whereby information is processed.

        조기영어교육 실태조사 연구

        <Abstract>The purposes of the present study were to find out the problems in the primary English education by doing research on the actual conditions, and to provide some suggestions for them to improve their educational effects. The areas of the present study are as follows: first, at what year is the best time for the primary English education to start, second, how many hours are proper for the student to take in a week, third, where is the best place for the primary English teacher to be trained, fourth, whether the English teachers are satisfied with their training contents or not, fifth, which educational situation they have or what kinds of educational instruments their schools have; sixth, what they think about the contents of the text books, and seventh, what the responses of the students learning English are. As a result of the present study, it shows that there are many problems in the English education of the elementary schools. So, the present study suggests some improvements or solutions as follows. First, the best time to teach English to the primary school students is the 3rd grade, in other words, as present. Second, the 2 hours of English class are also to exist as present. Third, children should be taught by competent English teachers: and the opportunities of English training for the teachers should be given whenever they want. Fourth, the evaluation report of text book should make out by teachers, then the publisher of text should change their next text. Fifth, each school has to get a multimedia system, such as a language laboratory and computer system. Sixth, the number of students in a class should be cut down. Finally the English education of the elementary school in Korea has been enforced under the poor circumstances in their administrative and financial policy and has been founded to have many problems within them. So this study will be helpful in solving and to improving the problems of the present primary English education.

      • A Study on Recent Credit Loan from Households in South Korea

        In this paper, we examine a causal relationship between a response variable credit loan from households and several explanatory variables such as interest of certificate of deposit (CD) and loan collateralized with housing and so on. Based on 31 observations sampled from the 4th quarter in 2008 to the 4th quarter in 2016, the optimal forecasts can be obtained and expected to apply to the distribution area comprehensively. In order to accomplish the objectives, both the multiple regression model with correlated errors and several exponential smoothing methods are, in main, analyzed by using IBM SPSS 23.0. A number of goodness-of-fit statistics, at the same time, are also exploited as a tool of optimal model-building.

        초등학교 영어교과서 편찬 방향

        Abstract The purpose of the present study was to provide a basis for writing primary school English textbooks in Korea. The study also attempted to show work by primary level teachers and for information on textbook writers in Korea. The study focused on the formation of text based on the practice of teaching and learning. The study discussed both curriculum and syllabus. The 6th curriculum of primary school English by the Ministry of Education was reviewed from the stand point of early childhood education of English. The study attempted to provide a model syllubus of primary school English based on the end-goals of the English course including the students' linguistic and social background, the students' cognitive development, the feasibility of cross-curricular work, the availablity and use of audio-visual materials and foreign language teachers. The present researcher hopes it provides a strong base for writing English texbooks for primary school children and for English teachers working with young learners.

        The purpose of this study was to introduce all kinds of early childhood English teaching approaches, techniques, procedures, and methods. Young children bring with them an already well-established set of instincts, skills and characteristics which will help them to learn another foreign language based on the individual differences. Language teaching should be concerned with authentic life. The methods were designed to increase competence for natural communication in English, to strengthen children's English language proficiency. to increase self-confidence in using English, and to prepare children for participation in the global community. Therefore, the present study looks at how theories have been realised in methodological practice. The present study talked about approaches, methods, techniques, procedures and models, all of which go into the practice of childhood English teaching.

        제 2 언어습득의 논리와 발달 문제에 관한 연구

        AbstractThe purpose of the present study was to review the logical and developmental problems while learning or acquiring a second (foreign) language. The study of second language acquisition is less developed than the study of first language acquisition in terms of the logical and developmental issues. Chomsky (1981) began to talk about the issues of second language acquisition. The logical problem is to explain how one comes to have the complex linguistic competence given the limited input one receives in the course of language acquisition as an issue for linguistics. The developmental problem relates to the question of why and how natural languages are acquired the way they are as an issue for psycholinguistics. The present study attempts to extend the question of second language acquisition just like applying the issue of first language acquisition.

      • A Review on Sales on Large-scale Retailing Types in South Korea

        In this work, we investigate several time series models to forecast of sales at department stores and at discount stores in South Korea. Considering two large-scale retailing types are homogeneous and comparable in size based on 86 realizations taken from January in 2010 to February in 2017. The dataset of this work is got from Korean Statistical Information Service (KOSIS) and Survey of Service Trend of Korea Statistical Administration, and we exploit the procedures of IBM SPSS 23.0 such as TSPLOT, TSMODEL, EXSMOOTH, ARIMA and MODELFIT. Several model-fit measures, simultaneously, are also used as criteria of the optimal model construction. Time series models can not only predict future sales but can account for economic or business mechanism and increase our understanding of relationships among phenomena or variables under consideration.

        주제통합의 유아영어교수학습모형 개발

        The purpose of the present study was to provide a new model of an integrated topic based English language education for kindergarteners. This study was to analyze kindergarten English teaching materials for developing a new model of the integrated topic based language teaching and learning. Firstly, for more child-oriented English language teaching through the integrated topic based language teaching and learning, topic-oriented English language teaching is needed in learner's cooperative activities based on different subjects. The child-oriented communicative activities through the integrated topic based language teaching and learning are more effective in an authentic English classroom. These activities of the integrated topic based language teaching and learning involve various tasks that consist of the simple to complex contexts required in the classroom. Secondly, to develop learner's communicative competence, the approach should be organized to integrate the learners' four language skills. Especially, listening and speaking skills should be closely tied to learners' communicative activities through the integrated topic based language teaching and learning. Conclusively, the topic-oriented learning and teaching will improve children's communicative abilities and enhance children's attitudes in English through the approach, and a system should be a component in developing English by applying task-based skills. On teaching methods for kindergarten English language teaching, teachers should conduct signification research and make efforts in order to make use of the integrated topic based methods according to the classroom situation. This study suggests that a useful starting point in using a topic is to make a topic web which can help children pin-point the kinds of activities which could be used. As part of the pre-activity stage, children can do a mind map or concept map, or write a list of key words to describe what they already know. This study shows that EFL in the school sector is very effective if it is linked to kindergarten subjects and topics since it is not only time-efficient but in terms of kindergarten-aged children is more authentic than simply learning English for social purposes.
