Effect of different viscoelastic models on free vibrations of thick cylindrical shells through FSDT under various boundary conditions

Hossein Daemi,Hamidreza Eipakchi 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.73 No.3

This paper investigates the free vibrations of cylindrical shells made of time-dependent materials for different viscoelastic models under various boundary conditions. During the extraction of equations, the displacement field is estimated through the first-order shear deformation theory taking into account the transverse normal strain effect. The constitutive equations follow Hooke's Law, and the kinematic relations are linear. The assumption of axisymmetric is included in the problem. The governing equations of thick viscoelastic cylindrical shell are determined for Maxwell, Kelvin-Voigt and the first and second types of Zener’s models based on Hamilton’s principle. The motion equations involve four coupled partial differential equations and an analytical method based on the elementary theory of differential equations is used for its solution. Relying on the results, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of viscoelastic shells are identified. Conducting a parametric study, we examine the effects of geometric and mechanical properties and boundary conditions, as well as the effect of transverse normal strain on natural frequencies. The results in this paper are compared against the results obtained from the finite elements analysis. The results suggest that solutions achieved from the two methods are ideally consistent in a special range.

      • Characterization of vanadium carbide coating deposited by borax salt bath process

        Aghaie-Khafri, M.,Daemi, N. Techno-Press 2012 Advances in materials research Vol.1 No.3

Thermal reactive diffusion coating of vanadium carbide on DIN 2714 steel substrate was performed in a molten borax bath at $950-1050^{\circ}C$. The coating formed on the surface of the substrate had uniform thickness ($1-12{\mu}m$) all over the surface and the coating layer was hard (2430-2700 HV), dense, smooth and compact. The influence of the kinetics parameters, temperature and time, has been investigated. Vanadium carbide coating was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The corrosion resistance of the coating was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization in 3.5% NaCl solution. The results obtained showed that decrease of coating microhardness following increasing time and temperature is owing to the coarsening of carbides and coating grain size.

Experimental Study on Utilization of Organic Waste Ash in Concrete Mixtures

Amir Rahimi,Seyed Farshad Dogmechi,Mohammad Reza Daemi 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.22 No.1

In many of the third world countries, organic wastes have one of the main rations of total produced wastes, yet recycling programs are concentrated on the metal and plastic materials due to their high prices. Application of residual of the combustion of organic wastes instead of cement can lead to lower final costs, and at the same time it will reduce environmental pollution due to landfilling them. This paper contains an experimental study on the effects of using different percentages (5, 8 and 12) of Organic Waste Ash (OWA) instead of cement by weight on the mechanical properties and ductility of concrete specimens. Although XRF test results showed that organic waste is not a pozzolanic substance, but no severe long-term threats on the mechanical properties of concrete specimens was observed. Results showed that 5% of OWA instead of cement by weight leads to optimum performance.

Association of Self-Care Behaviors and Quality of Life among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Chaldoran County, Iran

        Towhid Babazadeh,Mostafa Dianatinasab,Amin Daemi,Hossein Ali Nikbakht,Fatemeh Moradi,Saber Ghaffari-fam 대한당뇨병학회 2017 Diabetes and Metabolism Journal Vol.41 No.6

Background: Self-care of diabetes is an essential part for controlling the disease and improvement of quality of life in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. This study aimed to analyze the associated factors of quality of life in patients with T2DM in order to design effective interventions. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 120 T2DM patients referred to health centers of Chaldoran, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. The quality of life’s questionnaires from World Health Organization and the self-care behaviors’ questionnaires were used for data collection. Results: The mean age of patients was 46.30% and 53.30% of them were male. Among demographic variables, gender (P=0.002), age groups (P=0.007), and household monthly income (P=0.009) were significantly associated with total quality of life. Also, selfcare nutrition (odds ratio [OR], 1.47; P=0.001), self-management of blood glucose control (OR, 1.29; P=0.002), and self-medication behavior (OR, 1.18; P=0.030) were identified as factors significantly associated with quality of life. Conclusion: Self-care behaviors were significantly associated with quality of life; among them, the greatest influence was observed in self-care nutrition behavior. According to the findings of this study, appropriate interventions on self-care behaviors about nutrition can improve the quality of life for T2DM patients.

      • Breast Cancer Screening Barriers from the Womans Perspective: a Meta-synthesis

        Azami-Aghdash, Saber,Ghojazadeh, Morteza,Sheyklo, Sepideh Gareh,Daemi, Amin,Kolahdouzan, Kasra,Mohseni, Mohammad,Moosavi, Ahmad Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8

Background: The principal aim of health service providers in the field of breast cancer is to detect and treat lesions at an appropriate time. Therefore, identification of barriers to screening can be very helpful. The present study aimed to systematically review the qualitative studies for extracting and reporting the barriers of screening for breast cancer from the womans perspective. Materials and Methods: In this systematic review; Pubmed, Google Scholar, Ovid Scopus, Cochrane Library, Iranmedex, and SID were searched using the keywords: screening barriers, cancer, qualitative studies, breast and their Persian equivalents, and the needed data were extracted and analyzed using an extraction table. To assess the quality of the studies, the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) tool was used. Results: From 2,134 related articles that were found, 21 articles were eventually included in the study. The most important barriers from the point of view of 1,084 women were lack of knowledge, access barriers (financial, geographical, cultural), fear (of results and pain), performance of service providers, women's beliefs, procrastination of screening, embarrassment, long wait for getting an appointment, language problems, and previous negative experiences. Articles' assessment score was 68.9. Conclusions: Increasing women's knowledge, reducing the costs of screening services, cultural promotion for screening, presenting less painful methods, changing beliefs of health service providers, provision of privacy for giving service, decreasing the waiting time, and providing high quality services in a respectful manner can be effective ways to increase breast cancer screening.
