In this paper, a recognition of Korean affricate spoken by 3 designated talker, is implemented experimentally, The starting point of affricate is detected from the first predictor coefficient of a 12-pole linear predictive coding (LPC) analysis and phonemic segmentation is done through measuring short time energy and zero crossing rate. By this segmentation method, the duration of an aspirate can be mearsured in order to detect an aspirate or not. After calculated 12-pole LPC coefficients, duration of a aspirate and affricate, recognition experimentation is done using Log Likelihood Ratio. Experimental result is achieved 85% recognition rate by 3 dependent speaker.

It was investigated Cadmium eliminating capacty of Quartz Porphyry(Q.P.) during washing, swelling, and cooking process in rice contaminated artificially. 1. After washing the rice four times with water, the eliminating rate of Cadmium from artificially contaminated sample were 16% in control group, 28% and 42% in 25g/kg and 50g/kg Q.P. treated group, respectively. 2. Swelling of rice in water about 20 minutes didn't change the Cadmium level in Q.P. treated group. 3. Cadmium eliminating efficiency by cooking was significantly increased in Q.P. treated group (43~54%) compared to control group(31%). 4. These results suggest that treatment of rice with Q.P. is very effective to remove the Cadmium contamination in rice.

In the present study, we investigated the effect of Tetaus toxin (TeT) on cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation using specific markers: 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) as an exogenous marker for cell proliferation, Ki-67 as an endogenous marker for cell proliferation and doublecortin (DCX) as a marker for neuroblasts in the mouse hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) after TeT treatment. Mice were intraperitoneally administered 2.5 and 10 ng/kg TeT and sacrificed 15 days after the treatment. In both the TeT-treated groups, no neuronal death occurred in any layers of the DG using neuronal nuclei (NeuN, a neuron nuclei maker) and Fluoro-Jade B (F-J B, a high-affinity fluorescent marker for the localization of neuronal degeneration). In addition, no significant change in glial activation in both the 2.5 and 10 ng/kg TeT-treated-groups was found by GFAP (a marker for astrocytes) and Iba-1 (a marker for microglia) immunohistochemistry. However, in the 2.5 ng/kg TeT-treated-group, the mean number of BrdU, Ki-67 and DCX immunoreactive cells, respectively, were apparently decreased compared to the control group, and the mean number of each in the 10 ng/kg TeT-treated-group was much more decreased. In addition, processes of DCX-immunoreactive cells, which projected into the molecular layer, were short compared to those in the control group. In brief, our present results show that low dosage (10 ng/kg) TeT treatment apparently decreased cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the mouse hippocampal DG without distinct gliosis as well as any loss of adult neurons.

Objective : Papaverine has been used in treating vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage[SAH]. However, its action mechanism for cerebral vascular relaxation is not clear. Potassium channels are closely related to the contraction and relaxation of cerebral smooth muscle. Therefore, to identify the role of potassium and calcium channels in papaverine-induced vascular relaxation, we examine the effect of papaverine on potassium channels in freshly isolated smooth muscle cells from rat basilar artery. Methods : The isolation of rat basilar smooth muscle cells was performed by special techniques. The whole cell currents were recorded by whole cell patch clamp technique in freshly isolated smooth muscle cells from rat basilar artery. Papaverine was added to the bath solution. Results : Papaverine of $100{\mu}M$ into bath solution increased the amplitude of the outward $K^+$ current which was completely blocked by BKCa[large conductance calcium dependent potassium channels]blocker, IBX[iberiotoxin], and calcium chealator, BAPTA[l,2-bis[o-aminophenoxy]ethane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid], in whole cell mode. Conclusion : These results strongly suggest that potassium channels may play roles in papaverine-induced vascular relaxation in rat basilar artery.

Objective : Tyrosine kinase inhibitors may be useful in the management of cerebral vasospasm. It has not yet been reported whether L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channels playa role in tyrosine kinase inhibitors-induced vascular relaxation of cerebral artery. This study was undertaken to clarify the role of L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channels in tyrosine kinase inhibitors-induced vascular relaxation, and to investigate the effect of tyrosine kinase inhibitors on L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channels currents in freshly isolated smooth muscle cells from rat basilar artery. Methods : The isolation of rat basilar smooth muscle cells was performed by special techniques. The whole cell currents were recorded by whole cell patch clamp technique in freshly isolated smooth muscle cells from rat basilar artery. Results : Patch clamp studies revealed a whole-cell current which resembles the L-type $Ca^{2+}$ current reported by others. The amplitude of this current was decreased by nimodipine and increased by Bay K 8644. Genistein[n=5], tyrphostin A-23[n=3]. A-25[n=6] $30{\mu}M$ reduced the amplitude of the L -type $Ca^{2+}$ channel current in whole cell mode. In contrast, diadzein $30{\mu}M$ [n=3]. inactive analogue of genistein, did not decrease the amplitude of the L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channels current. Conclusion : These results suggest that tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as genistein, tyrphostin A-23, A-25 may relax cerebral vessel through decreasing level of intracellular calcium, [$Ca^{2+}$]i, by inhibition of L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel.

This study was conducted to examine the economic evaluation of the newly developed fish meal analog (BAIFA - M) in Korean rockfish feed. A raw fish feed (MP) and two commercially formulated diets (EP) were employed to compare weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and survival rate (SR) from the sea cage culture system. By using the economic model in the practical sea cage culture system, feed cost, production cost and gross profit per kg production, rate of profit to gross revenue (RPGR), and internal rate of return (IRR) were calculated based upon the results of the experiment and the information of the private aquaculture farm (Young Chang) in Tong young, Korean. IRR criteria is one of the popular economic feasibility analysis methods applicable for aquaculture industry. This is an economic evaluation method to compare the given interest rate or the discount rate with IRR which can be calculated by the difference between the present value of the benefit stream and of the cost stream. The benefits of using EP on WG, FCR, SR, and production cost will be emphasized in this study. Fish averaging 20±3.6g (Mean±SD) were randomly distributed in each small cage (6m x 6m) as groups of 2,000 fish. By using 3 large size cages (12m x 12m), 12 small cages were constructed, and only 9 small cages were employed for three replicates of each diet treatment. To compare with MP diet, two sinking EP diets were designed by our laboratory and produced by the local feed company who wanted to promote these EP diets for the mass cage culture of Korean rockfish in the future. Two EP diets contain white fish meal and/or BAIFA-M as the main animal protein sources : WFM diet, maximum 43% of white fish meal ; BAIFA - M diet, 30% of white fish meal was replaced by BAIFA - M from WFM diet. Results are summarized in Table 1. Fish fed MP diet showed significantly lower SR than does fish fed two EP diets (P< 0.05). However, there were no significant differences on FCR among fish fed three practical diets. Table 1. Average feed conversion ratio (FCR), accumulative average survival rate (SR) and economic evaluation data for three practical diets. (표) As we expected, BAIFA-M diet is more economical than WFM diet as well as MP diet. Feed cost and production cost per kg production from BAIFA - M diet were lower than those from WFM and MP diets. Moreover, gross profit per Kg production, RPGR and IRR from BAIFA-M diet were higher than those from WFM and MP diets. This economic evaluation study clearly indicated that MP diet should be replaced by the commericial formulated EP diets as soon as possible in the near future because MP diet is not economical in the practical sea cage culture system.

The chemiluminescent (CL) response of phagocytes from juvenile rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli, which were administered orally with levamisole was investigated. The fish intubated with doses of levamisole either at 0.5 ㎎ ㎏^- or 1 ㎎ ㎏^- body weight showed significant increase in CL responses at two weeks after the administration. The increased extent of CL in the Fish exposed to 0.5 ㎎ ㎏^- body weight was considerably lower than that in the fish exposed to 1 ㎎ ㎏^-. The fish exposed to 5 ㎎ ㎏^- body weight showed a steady and significant increase of CL response after the intubation. The fish intubated with 10 ㎎ of levamisole ㎏^- body weight, however, showed no significant differences in CL response after the administration. In the experiment of feeding experimental diet, a lower dose of levamisole induced immunostimulation of phagocytes, but higher doses of levamisole induced immunosuppression of phagocytes. At one week after marking and blood sampling, plasma glucose level was significantly increased in the control group and the group intubated 0.5 ㎎ levamisole/㎏ body weight. However, the fish in another groups, which were administered higher levels of levamisole, showed no significant difference in glucose level after marking and blood sampling. The result of the present study suggests that levamisole can be used as a potent immunostimulator in rockfish by oral administration, and the immunomodulating activity of levamisole depends on the dosage used.
