A reaction-diffusion modeling of carbonation process in self-compacting concrete

        Chuanqing Fu,Hailong Ye,Xianyu Jin,Nanguo Jin,Lingli Gong 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2015 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.15 No.5

In this paper, a reaction-diffusion model of carbonation process in self-compacting concrete (SCC) was realized with a consideration of multi-field couplings. Various effects from environmental conditions, e.g. ambient temperature, relative humidity, carbonation reaction, were incorporated into a numerical simulation proposed by ANSYS. In addition, the carbonation process of SCC was experimentally investigated and compared with a conventionally vibrated concrete (CVC). It is found that SCC has a higher carbonation resistance than CVC with a comparable compressive strength. The numerical solution analysis agrees well with the test results, indicating that the proposed model is appropriate to calculate and predict the carbonation process in SCC. The parameters sensitivity analysis also shows that the carbon dioxide diffusion coefficient and moisture field are essentially crucial to the carbonation process in SCC.

Quantitative Characterization Method for Rock Surface Roughness with Different Scale Fluctuation

        Yuhang Guo,Chuanqing Zhang,Hang Xiang,Guojian Cui,Fanzhen Meng,Hui Zhou 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.26 No.4

Quantitative characterization of the surface roughness plays a vital role in the field of rock mechanics. The objectives of this study were to propose a new index that can describe the various morphological characteristics with different scale fluctuation. The power spectral density (PSD) parameters and conventional statistical parameters were used to analyze the roughness of meso-scale grind surfaces, intermediate-scale synthesis surfaces, and macro-scale shear surfaces. The results showed that the PSD parameters (slope k, intercept b, spectral moment λ0, and spectral shape parameters ω1 and ω2) and conventional statistical parameters(RMS and Z2) have evident uniqueness and uniformity in characterizing the roughness with different scale fluctuation. It is necessary to appropriately use the correct parameters for classifying and quantifying the roughness. For this purpose, a new characterization index SLAwas proposed based on the spectral shape parameter ω1, spectral moment λ0, slope k, and angle fractal index C.

Dynamic fracture catastrophe model of concrete beam under static load

Zhonggou Chen,Chuanqing Fu,Yifeng Ling,Xianyu Jin 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2020 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.25 No.6

An experimental system on three point bending notched beams was established to study the fracture process of concrete. In this system, the acoustic emission (AE) was used to build the cumulative generation order (AGO) and dynamically track the process of microcrack evolution in concrete. A grey-cusp catastrophe model was built based on AE parameters. The results show that the concrete beams have significant catastrophe characteristic. The developed grey-cusp catastrophe model, based on AGO, can well describe the catastrophe characteristic of concrete fracture process. This study also provides a theoretical and technical support for the application of AE in concrete fracture prediction.

Influence of flexural loading on chloride ingress in concrete subjected to cyclic drying-wetting condition

Hailong Ye,Chuanqing Fu,Nanguo Jin,Xianyu Jin 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2015 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.15 No.2

Chloride ingress implies a complex interaction between physical and chemical process, in which heat, moisture and chloride ions transport through concrete cover. Meanwhile, reinforced concrete structure itself undergoes evolution due to variation in temperature, relative humidity and creep effects, which can potentially change the deformation and trigger some micro-cracks in concrete. In addition, all of these process show time-dependent performance with complex interaction between structures and environments. In the present work, a time-dependent behavior of chloride transport in reinforced concrete beam subjected to flexural load is proposed based on the well-known section fiber model. The strain state varies because of stress redistribution caused by the interaction between environment and structure, mainly dominated by thermal stresses and shrinkage stress and creep. Finally, in order to clear the influence of strain state on the chloride diffusivity, experiment test were carried out and a power function used to describe this influence is proposed.

Stochastic characteristics of reinforcement corrosion in concrete beams under sustained loads

        Le Huang,Xianyu Jin,Chuanqing Fu,Hailong Ye,Xiaoyu Dong 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2020 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.25 No.5

This paper deals with the characteristics of reinforcement corrosion in concrete beams under the influence of sustained loads. The evolution and distribution laws of the reinforcement corrosion were measured periodically over time. The results show that sustained load exhibits a pronounced exacerbating effect on the reinforcement corrosion, and enlarges the nonuniformity level of corrosion as the load level increases. Accompanied with the continuous formation of the rust, the corrosion rate was also observed to be highly nonlinear and time-dependent. Moreover, to visually and quantitatively analyze the distribution of reinforcement corrosion, the 3D scanning technology combined with the probability statistics analysis was adopted, and the observed nonuniformity can be well described by the Gumbel distribution. Finally, an approach based on the three-phase spherical model was proposed to estimate the reinforcement corrosion, taking account of the effects of sustained load on the changes of concrete porosity and oxygen diffusivity.

Global gene expression analysis of a rice high-tillering dwarf mutant

        Bosen Zhang,Lubin Tan,Chuanqing Sun,Daoxin Xie 한국유전학회 2014 Genes & Genomics Vol.36 No.4

Plant height and tiller number are indispensiblefor the establishment of grain production in rice (Oryzasativa L.). A new rice mutant high-tillering dwarf 3 (htd3)exhibiting more tiller number and shorter culm length thanthe wild-type Guichao 2 (GC2, an indica cultivar) was usedto investigate the global gene expression patterns at daysafter germination 25 (DAG25) and DAG60. In this study,we identified 305 and 987 genes with at least twofoldchange in gene expression level at DAG25 and DAG60respectively using the rice microarray chip. Gene ontologyenrichment analysis of these twofold change regulatedgenes revealed that large numbers of genes were involvedin binding activity, catalytic activity and metabolic process. The chip results also showed that some of the regulatedgenes involved in diverse molecular pathways, includinggibberellin pathway, brassinosteroid pathway and auxinsignal, had significant differences in gene expressionabundance at DAG60. This genome-wide gene expressionanalysis could provide a new opportunity to uncover theregulation mechanisms of the development of culm andtiller, two important components of yields in rice.

Prediction of chloride binding isotherms for blended cements

        Hailong Ye,Xianyu Jin,Wei Chen,Chuanqing Fu,Nanguo Jin 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2016 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.17 No.5

A predictive model for chloride binding isotherms of blended cements with various supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) was established in this work. Totally 560 data points regarding the chloride binding isotherms of 106 various cements were collected from literature. The total amount of bound chloride for each mixture was expressed a combinational function of the predicted phase assemblage and binding isotherms of various hydrated phases. New quantitative expressions regarding the chloride binding isotherms of calcium-silicate-hydrate (C-S-H), AFm, and hydrotalcite phases were provided. New insights about the roles of SCMs on binding capabilities of ordinary portland cements (OPC) were discussed. The proposed model was verified using separate data from different sources and was shown to be reasonably accurate.

Functional analysis of prv-miR-LLT11a encoded by pseudorabies virus

        Huimin Liu,Li Yang,Zhibin Shi,Ruiqi Lv,Xia Yang,Chuanqing Wang,Lu Chen,Hongtao Chang 대한수의학회 2019 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.20 No.6

Viral-encoded microRNAs (miRNAs) play have vital roles in the regulations of virus replications and host immune responses. The results of previous studies have indicated that miRNA clusters are involved in the replication and virulence of the pseudorabies virus (PRV), which may potentially lead to the immune escape or facilitation of PRV replications. This study's previous research revealed that the prv-mirmiR-LLT11a was differentially expressed during PRV infections. The present study's results have demonstrated that the prv-miR-LLT11a could significantly inhibit PRV replications. It was further determined that SLA-1 was the target gene of the prv-miR-LLT11a, and simultaneously, thate overexpression of prv-miR-LLT11a could down-regulate the mRNA and protein levels of SLA-1 in a dose-independent manner. Furthermore, the present study also found observed that the prv-miR-LLT11a canhad also down-regulated the TAP1 expressions. Our findings provide a better understanding of the molecular mechanism involved in on the effects of prv-miR-LLT11a on SLA-1 and TAP1, as well as and its involvement in a potential immune system evasion of PRV.
