A Gateway to Effectiveness in Translation Class : Flip Classes
Cho Woon ik 한국통번역교육학회 2017 통번역교육연구 Vol.15 No.1
Currently, as digital natives are enrolling in universities, the teaching and learning environment is naturally flowing toward this new methodology. Such a methodology requires us to take deep considerations, and its possibility for success lies in cooperation between students and teachers. Different from the traditional translation class, this methodology can flip previous teacher-led classes. To conduct this flipped translation class successfully, three major stages should be created: Provide prior knowledge to students before the class, usually consisting of audiovisual teaching and learning materials uploaded onto the e-class/website; prepare a variety of class activities or peer group reviewing sessions; and assign students with after-class activities, possibly conducted among peer groups.
Exploring Translating Courses with Reference to a Team-based Learning Approach : A Case Study
Cho Woon ik 한국통번역교육학회 2018 통번역교육연구 Vol.16 No.1
This study revisited a K-E translation course with Reference to a team-based learning that is widely applied to interpreting and translating courses of B-University. Theoretically, translating is a wide spectrum of language transfer. It implies that message conveyance can differ. During this learning course, translating a source language into a target language was performed through a team-based learning and course participants showed their high interest and many positive effects in learning translation skills: learners’ passive learning attitude is turned into active learners; learners’ social skill is elevated doing their team-based tasks; their self-directed learning attitude is strengthened; logic and critic thinking skills are promoted doing their cooperative team-based learning courses. In a nutshell, translating course-takers responded positive awareness the significance of a wide range of translating message spectrums that can be applied to translating skills through team-based cooperative learning tasks.

The purpose of the study was to identify the effects that parents’ characteristics of taekwondo trainee have on taekwondo studio selection, customer satisfaction and re-registration intention and to provide essential marketing strategies for taekwondo studio management and operations. The respondents in the study are parents of taekwondo trainee in yangchengu, seoul and 300 parents were surveyed through the questionnaires. In addition trainees’ parents participated in kukkiwon were surveyed and then 150 questionnaires. The findings in this study indicated as belows. First as for the difference in taekwondo studio selection, gender, education, children’s gender, taekwondo training time by one day, number of training participation by week and training term show significant differences on motive/goal, service, administration and children’s grade show significant differences on the motive/goal, service and trainee management. Second, as for the difference in taekwondo customer satisfaction, education and children’s gender show significant differences on instructor, education program, facilities and studio location and also gender, job, income, children’s grade taekwondo training time by one day, number of training participation by week show significant differences on the instructor, education program. Third, as for the difference in re-registration intention, job, education, income and training term show significant differences on the repurchasing intention and word-of mouth intention and also children’s gender, children’s grade and taekwondo training time by one day show significant differences on word- of-mouth intention.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The crystal structure, domain patterns, and ferroelectric properties of Fe-modified BNT-ST [0.77(Bi0.5Na0.5)TiO3-0.23Sr(Ti1-<I>x</I> Fe<I> x </I>)O3] ceramics, fabricated by a conventional solid-state reaction, were investigated. Core-shell structures were observed and the volume fractions of the core-domain and shell (relaxor-matrix) were found to be dependent on Fe-modification content. The crystal structures of the core-domain and the relaxor-matrix were rhombohedral with the space group <I>R</I>3<I>c</I>, and the tetragonal with the space group <I>P</I>4<I>bm</I>, respectively. Compositional inhomogeneity, specifically, the enrichment of Bi3+ and Na+ and the considerable depletion of Sr2+, were observed in the core-domain region, and was reduced by substituting Ti4+ with Fe3+. The Fe-modification of the BNT-23ST ceramics promoted the diffusion of Sr2+ ions into the core region and shifted ferroelectric behaviour towards ergodic-relaxor behaviour. This improved the effective d33* of BNT-23ST ceramics to over 500pm/V at 2kV/mm.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We describe the experimental study on the spontaneous capillary instability of gradient poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) stripes beneath the continuous polystyrene (PS) film. Upon vapor annealing using a selective solvent only for PMMA, the PMMA stripes were transformed into well-ordered dot-arrays beneath the continuous PS film via capillary force driven rupture. Dimensional features of the PMMA dots strongly did not depend upon the initial width and height of the PMMA microscopic stripes. Repeatedly, such this gradient stripe geometry triggered a competition between the phase correlation of neighboring stripes and the kinetically favorable wavelength, thus leading to the formation of an intriguing, recursive surface sub-patterns.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Controlled Evaporative Self-Assembly is used for creating gradient polymer stripes. </LI> <LI> A facile approach for capillary breakup of patterned polymer film is proposed. </LI> <LI> Spontaneous capillary breakup of gradient polymer stripes into spatially ordered dot arrays is made. </LI> </UL> </P>
