        Abundant Manganese Complex-Anchored BiOI Hybrid Photocatalyst for Visible Light-Driven CO2 Reduction

        An abundant manganese complex-anchored BiOI hybrid system for CO2 photocatalytic conversion was constructed. Layered BiOI and tricarbonyl Mn bipyridyl complex with carboxyl acid groups were connected with covalent bonds and used as visible light antenna and CO2 reduction reaction centers, respectively. The covalent connection of this hybrid system benefits the transfer of electrons from the semiconductor to the Mn complex. The anchoring group (carboxyl) is the key to CO2 reduction for the direct coupling of the two units, facilitating the transfer of electrons from BiOI to the manganese complexes. The photocatalytic properties and stability of the tri-carbonyl Mn–bipyridyl complex were significantly enhanced with the aid of anchored BiOI. A high turnover number (TON = 74) of HCOO- formation from CO2 could be achieved using this hybrid system under visible light irradiation.

        The Work Experience of Newly Recruited Male Nurses during COVID-19: A Qualitative Study

        Purpose: This study was to investigate the work experience of newly recruited male nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: With a phenomenological approach, this qualitative study was adopted semistructured interviews by phone or video calls. A total of 9 male nurses newly recruited for the COVID-19 wards in Chinese hospitals were interviewed for this study. And Colaizzi's method was applied for evaluation in the data analysis. Results: Based on our findings, three themes were extracted. First, the newly recruited male nurses showed negative emotions at the beginning of COVID-19 epidemic, which was caused by changes in working conditions and content, but also prompted the nurses to change the way of coping with the crisis. Second, they gradually mastered the working skills and psychological training to cope with COVID- 19 and developed a positive attitude toward life and a high sense of professional responsibility. Finally, we learned about their needs to respond to public health emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: COVID-19 is a disaster for all of humanity. The newly recruited male nurses are an important force in emergency rescue. Although they suffered from short-term negative emotions, they quickly adapted to the crisis. In order to better prepare for future emergencies, the disaster response capacity of newly recruited male nurses needs to be further improved. In addition, newly recruited male nurses have a strong demand for timely and personalized career development guidance.

        SET/PP2A signaling regulates macrophage positioning in hypoxic tumor regions by amplifying chemotactic responses

        Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are one of the main cellular components in the tumor microenvironment (TME). In many types of solid tumors, TAMs tend to accumulate in hypoxic areas and are intimately related to poor patient prognosis. However, the underlying mechanisms by which TAMs infiltrate hypoxic tumor regions remain unclear. In this study, we report that genetic deletion of SE translocation (SET) in myeloid cells inhibited the entry of TAMs into the hypoxic tumor region and abated their proangiogenic and immunosuppressive functions, ultimately inhibiting tumor growth. Mechanistically, in response to hypoxic tumor supernatant stimulation, SET in macrophages shuttled between the nucleus and cytoplasm via the PKC-CK2α signaling axis. Cytoplasmic retention of SET increased ERK and P38 signaling by inhibiting PP2A, which promoted TAM migration into the hypoxic area and polarization toward the M2 phenotype. Therefore, we conclude that SET modulates tumor immunity by acting as a key regulator of macrophage positioning and function in the tumor.

        MiR-182-5p Mediated by Exosomes Derived From Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cell Attenuates Inflammatory Responses by Targeting TLR4 in a Mouse Model of Myocardial Infraction

        Exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) could protect against myocardial infarction (MI). TLR4 is reported to play an important role in MI, while microRNA-182-5p (miR-182-5p) negatively regulates TLR4 expression. Therefore, we hypothesize that MSCs-derived exosomes overexpressing miR-182-5p may have beneficial effects on MI. We generated bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) and overexpressed miR-182-5p in these cells for exosome isolation. H2O2-stimulated neonatal mouse ventricle myocytes (NMVMs) and MI mouse model were employed, which were subjected to exosome treatment. The expression of inflammatory factors, heart function, and TLR4 signaling pathway activation were monitored. It was found that miR-182-5p decreased TLR4 expression in BM-MSCs and NMVMs. Administration of exosomes overexpressing miR-182-5p to H2O2-stimulated NMVMs enhanced cell viability and suppressed the expression of inflammatory cytokines. In addition, they promoted heart function, suppressed inflammatory responses, and de-activated TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway in MI mice. In conclusion, miR-182-5p transferred by the exosomes derived from BM-MSCs protected against MI-induced impairments by targeting TLR4.

        Response of Growth Performance, Cecal Fermentation Traits and In vitro Gas Production to Substitution of Soyhulls for Lignified Fiber in Rabbit Diets

        A growth trial (Expt. 1) and an in vitro fermentation experiment (Expt. 2) were conducted to determine the response of growth performance, cecal fermentation characteristics and in vitro gas production to incremental levels of substitution of digestible fiber for lignified fiber in the diet of weaned rabbits. Three diets, formulated by substituting soyhulls (SH; used as digestible fiber source) for soybean straw (used as lignified fiber source) at substitution levels of 0, 25 and 50%, were used in a factorial design. In the growth trial (Expt. 1), increasing levels of SH substitution resulted in a quadratic increase in daily body weight gain rate (p<0.04) and feed conversion efficiency (p<0.02), but in a numerical decrease in dietary DM intake (p=0.15). When SH were included in the diet at 25% substitution level, rabbits had the highest rate of liveweight gain and feed conversion efficiency. As SH substitution level increased, pH values and ammonia-N of cecal contents linearly (p<0.001) decreased, but total VFA concentration linearly (p<0.03) increased. With incremental levels of SH substitution, the percentage of acetate and butyrate linearly (p<0.05) reduced, but the percentage of propionate and minor acids linearly (p<0.03) increased. Increasing the SH substitution levels tended to increase incidence of diarrhea. In the in vitro fermentation experiment (Expt. 2), regardless of origin of substrates fermented, increasing SH substitution level resulted in increased maximal gas production (p<0.001) and shortened gas production lag time, but had no effect on gas production rate (p>0.2). These observations suggest that incrementally feeding SH to rabbits could stimulate their cecal microbial activity, allowing cecal fermentation to shift towards favoring fiber digestion. In conclusion, digestible fiber from soyhulls may partially substitute for more lignified fiber, soybean straw, without having an adverse effect on cecal fermentative and microbial activity and growth performance. For growing rabbits, about 73% of total dietary NDF should be supplied by effective NDF, the remainder could come from digestible NDF, such as soyhulls.

      • 한국 텔레매틱스 시장에서의 소비자 선호도에 관한 연구

        텔레매틱스(Telematics)는 "통신(Telecommunication)"과 "정보과학(Informatics)"의 합성어로서 소비자들에게 길안내, 교통정보, 긴급구조, 기타 부가가치 서비스를 제공하는 서비스이다. 본 연구에서는 컨조인트 분석을 이용하여 텔레매틱스 사용자들의 서비스 속성 및 제공시기에 따른 선호도를 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과, 현재 사용자는 향상된 길안내/교통정보 서비스를 가장 중요한 선호 요인으로 보았고, 잠재해 사용자는 VRM 서비스를 가장 중요한 선호요인으로 보았다. 또한 미래의 서비스 제공은 현재 사용자 및 잠재적 사용자 모두에게 부정책인 요인으로 작용하였다. Telematics is an amalgamation of the words "Telecommunication" and "Informatics". Telematics services include navigation, traffic information, emergency assistance, and other value added services. Using conjoint analysis, this study explores the key factors affecting the consumer preference in terms of service features and purchasing time. Empirical results indicate that upgrading navigation/traffic information service and WIM service are the most important factors for both current and potential consumers and future availability of the services is a negative impact to consumer preferences.

        Factors on the Adoption of M-payment Services

        The channels of retail payment have been widely diversified due to technological innovations in the telecommunications industry. New payment solutions are mainly conducted by electronic delivery through the Internet or mobile phones. In particular, the use of mobile banking services has dramatically increased since the recent appearance of mobile phone-embedded IC chip. This study reviews the current mobile payments market in Korea and investigates the factors influencing the adoption of mobile payment services. Through factor and regression analyses, we find seven significant factors: relative advantage, image, safety, personal characteristics, propensity for using the mobile Internet, personal payments environment, and perception of the advantages of mobile communication. We also accompany market segmentation by cluster analysis and suggest effective marketing strategies for four classified groups.

          The number of Internet users and corporations around the world including in Korea has grown and is on the increase at present. Therefore information technology (IT) has become an essential part of doing business today. However, as organizations continue to increase their use of IT, the security risks and concerns associated with it are growing even more rapidly. There are many methods currently being used to prevent computer crime and abuse. These methods are categorized into five elements; (1) user authentication, (2) encryption, (3) virus detection, (4) physical barriers, and (5) logical barriers. Our study deals with virus vaccine software in Korean in order to analyze customers preference for these programs. Questionnaires were obtained from the organizations and individuals working with Internet or through networks. The data collected from questionnaires are used for analyzing customers preference. Based on the preference, customers perceptual map of products can be drawn. In order to describe the perceptual map, factor analysis with preference regression was used to explain the dimensions of the perceptual map. The dimension of the perceptual map consists of the components extracted through the factor analysis. There are three components: (1) Core Quality (2) Efficiency (3) Peripheral Quality. Therefore we can make up three two-dimensional graphs: (i) Core Quality and Efficiency (ii) Core Quality and Peripheral Quality (iii) Efficiency and Peripheral Quality.<BR>  The Core Quality is the most important component of the three. It is made up of (1) online support, (2) quick response to newly emerging virus, (3) convenient menu to run the program, (4) design, and (5) upgrade of the program. These five factors can be condensed into characteristics such as effectiveness and interface of program.<BR>  On the contrary, Efficiency component is least important one out of three components. The development of CPU in the personal computers makes Efficiency component less important for using the virus vaccine programs.
